1.
+1 from me. That's what my cabs wear
+ whatever from me. Best covers around.
2. Sounds Great in Heald Green, Cheadle are MB dealers. Had a load of stuff last time I went in. http://www.soundsgreatmusic.com/pages/about-us Also the Great British Bass Lounge also stock MB. http://greatbritishbasslounge.com/product-category/amplification/markbass/
3. We have had a great deal of success with Samson Q7's, in fact we retired our SM58's and just use the Samson's now. You can get them for about £27. Very robust and have built in feedback surpressors.
4. Just bought Brian's Eden WTX500. What a Gent, great to deal with and the packaging was Bomb Proof. Thanks for the deal Brian.
5. There's an SB310 for sale on a Facebook Bass page for £150. Unfortunately I haven't a clue on how to post a link to the particular sale. Here's the Facebook Group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/UKBassgear/ It was last "bumped" about 17th Nov. It isn't far from me and I was going to buy it as it is a steal but a) I don't play 4 strings and I've got 3 x 5 Strings already. Looks quite tidy.
6.
Ditto. Still in use and has some knocks but going strong.
Double Ditto. about £15 and has a moveable divider to seperate the head from cables.
7. If you mean the ones that were held at RNCM and the last one at Band On The Wall, simple answer is No. I go and see Stevie Williams, (who organised them), and his band quite regularly and I asked him about future events and whilst he was concentrating on the new "Most Wanted Band" album he had no plans to organise any more. The album is now finished and has been launched so maybe next year. He certainly hasn't ruled out future events.
8. I think the words "Designed and Engineered in England" have been taken somewhat out of context by Music Store. If you look at the manual. http://ashdownmusic.com/files/product/file/user_manual_20150211111143_92483.pdf It clearly says "Designed and Engineered in England Manufactured in PRC"
9.
yes, but which cab is it?....
Check the pic of the backplate. It's a 1212L.
10. I've only ever bought 2 brand new amps and both went back within 48hrs with faults. I'll stick with taking a chance on 2nd hand.
11.
We are sorry to hear that you received a defective unit. Did you contact the dealer to exchange it? We haven't heard of this issue before. If the input jack is loose that's a fairly easy fix but the fan should NOT be on all the time.
Yes I have contacted the dealer and it will be on it's way back tomorrow. I am not having it repaired, I have requested a refund as I don't have much faith in the product now.
12. Just taken delivery of a Tech21 VTB500 and it looks like it is going straight back. As soon as I plugged in, nix/nadda/nothing. Wiggled the lead around and crackle/pop and then sound. Swapped the lead and it did exactly the same thing. Also the fan seems to be on all the time and it is really noisy compared to my MarkBass. I don't have the confidence to take it out on a gig so looks like it will have to go back. The input Jack socket appears to be the problem. The jack plug is not very tight when plugged in. Loads of play. When it does work it sounds great and the tonal possibilities are endless.
13.
Not to spam but this is incorrect. The amp is not a Bass Driver attached to a power amp. It's a 500 watt amp with a newly designed preamp based on our VT Bass products that can be run totally clean if you're into that "hi-fi" bass tone or it can emulate a vintage tube amp. Even when using the tube emulation the amp is capable of clean tones. There are a lot of choices out there and we always recommend you try before you buy if possible. Here are a couple of recent videos of the VT Bass 500: https://youtu.be/aeus-kMK4qs https://youtu.be/iDtTWGwWMj8
Sorry for the bum steer.
14.
I think I've ruled the Tech 21 out of the running. I was just curious if there was anyway it could be tweaked in order to not sound like an Ampeg, I don't want to be trapped with that sound so I'm guessing the pedal route seems like a more sensible option in order to achieve that drive.
Simple answer is Yes. Essentially the Tech 21 is a Sansamp bass driver and power amp in 1 box Play with the Character control and well it changes the character of the amp.
15. Also watch out for warranty terms. Some are worldwide, some just the country of purchase.
16.
I had a 4 string version of this. A lot of bass for the money. Interesting what you said about the jack - now that I think about it, my Deko also ate a battery suspiciously quickly.
So does mine. I remove the battery and holder when not using it.
17.
I'm always left shaking my head in disbelief when I see bands micing up the drumkit for a small pub gig, yes people want to hear the music but they also want to be able to order drinks at the bar and have a shouted conversation as well.
Yes, Yes and three times Yes. I couldn't agree more and have this discussion constantly with our vocalist, (who owns the PA). Our guitarist has a PA company and it never ceases to amaze him why everything goes through the PA for Pub Gigs. The minute you amplify the drums, everything else has be turned up a notch. Also Wedding/Function Gigs, why do bands soundcheck from the back of the room? The edge of the dancefloor is the area to concentrate on as people want to talk at a function. I agree that certain genres of music need to be "felt" but I have walked out on bands that make my ears bleed.
18. That is an insane price for one of Alan's creations. Good luck with the sale and someone will be very happy if they buy this.
19. + A million to "Go And Try As Many Amps As You Can" after doing a list of contenders. What suits one person may not suit you. I have tried just about every Class D amp going and didn't get on with them, but plenty of people on here do. Gary Mac plan is the way forward in my mind.
20. Speak to Marshall, who now own Eden. Their service dept is pretty good in my experience.
21. Just checked his website and he is at Band On The Wall, not Ruby Lounge. Now BOTW is a class venue. Standing only and a large balcony, so get in and head there.
22.
I have never been to the Ruby Lounge. What is the standing view like? Any seating? Do people queue for ages etc etc. I do not fancy making a 2 hour drive and then staring at the back of someones head cos I should have got there 30 minutes earlier to bags a place.
It's OK. Where Fender used for the Manchester leg of their recent tour. It's downstairs and the area in front of the stage is standing only and it isn't a massive area. There is some seating, but not much. Bar isn't too pricey either. They tend to make you wait out side and then open the doors and "herd" you in, which doesn't take long. i guess it's a pretty old school type of club.
23. Fantastic basses and considering Lakland, G&L, Sandberg, Fender, Ibanez etc. etc. use Cort to make some of their models I think that says it ll.
24. I've got 3 Bass Collections 5 strings. The lightest is 6.8Lbs and the heaviest 7.2Lbs.
