1. Awesome basses and I have 3 of them all 5 Strings. If it helps weight is likely to be between 7 and 7.5 Lbs based on the weights of my 3 and the pre-amp looks like a Seymour Duncan and is almost certainly an aftermarket job. GLWTS as anyone going for this will not be disappointed..
 2.
So clever that circuit! I think blendable in this case is all P or all J and both pickups on full in the middle, with a blend of both as you turn the knob towards one or the other.
That's pretty much it. Another vote for Artec pre's. The great thing about them is that all the circuitry is on the pots, so they will usually fit in some pretty tight cavities. AxesRus usually have them.
 3. Pretty sure all mine are in the other thread, but here goes.
 4.
They also played Earth Wind a Fire in London too.
And Manchester. Superb version of "You can't hide your love".
 5. As Sweeden is part of the EU there shouldn't be any other fees/taxes.
 6.
That's exactly what I'm looking for, looks awesome. Does it have a clear coat over the top?
Shouldn't need one. If it survives on the body of a car, a bass body should be a cakewalk. The designs my mate has done, which are prints, survived without a protective coat.
 7.
If it's a Squier Vintage Modified P5 (there aren't any Classic Vibe fivers as far as I know), the machine heads are the same as those on the Mexican Standards. Some Squiers have smaller headstocks, but I think the VMs would have the same headstock size as a Fender; I know both my CV and Matt Freeman do. Looking at the 4-string version, there's more than enough room for the Wilkinsons but they'd not fit on the 5-string.
My bad, it is indeed a Vintage Modified P5.
 8. Any idea odf the size of the bushes on the Wilkinson tuners? Looking for a set for a 5 String Squire CV P Bass.
 9. Have you thought about companies the do vinyl wrapping for cars? I have seen complete chrome wrapped cars and they looked pretty sensational. A friend of mine does vinyl for a living and has done a couple of guitars. Problem is he is Manchester based and there would have to be some sort of seam where front and back join. Here are a couple of guitars he did.
 10. The Seymour Duncan diagram is one I have used a number of times and is pretty standard. Your version is pretty much the same but they have overcomplicated it using the multi-core. If it were me I'd start from scratch, rewire as per the SD diagram and go from there.
 11.
I've not seen another pewter/silver one.
I have
 12.
Geno Washington And The Ram Jam band tonight in London as part of my mate's stag do. Don't know the band at all, but funky blues sounds like it will be fun.
Great band. Should be a great night.
 13. How much would Roqsolid want to make one? Might be worth a try.
 14. Having given the set of NYXL's, kindly supplied by Andrew, about 3 months of use it's time for my verdict. I received a 5 String set of 45-130 guage. First impressions are that I love the "stealth" packaging which is a bit of a departure for D'Addario. I am already quite a fan of their strings and use light guage XL's on 2 of my basses so I was able to make some direct comparisons. I tried them on 3 basses, (about a month each), and all through the same backline of MarkBass SA450 and 2x Zoot 112 Cabs. First up was a Squire VM P-Bass that normally has light guage Elites on. The NYXL's made quite a difference to this bass. They have a really nice softish feel about them and I noticed there was very little string noise when you get busy. They feel as though they have a higher tension than the Elites but are more balanced across the strings. They are quite bright when fresh, (as most strings are), but soon took on a nice defined tone and the note definition was excellent across all the strings. The low B in particular was a revelation and actually made it more useable, whilst the mids, (the important bit), had a very authoratitive sound about them. Even after some pretty long rehearsal sessions I wasn't left with sore fingers and they are very kind to your fingertips. Next up was "Marvin", the Carvin with a Marleaux neck. This bass has had Marleaux strings on ever since I have owned it. The NYXL's obviously feel the same as on the Squire so any review would have to be down to sound and again there was quite some difference. The bass is fitted with a Glock 3-band preamp and I tried it in both passive and active mode. In passive mode I found characteristics similar to the Squire. Nice definition across all the strings, even tension and loads of bottom end but still with nicely defined mids. Switching to Active and it was more of the same but when boosting the lows I got some huge sounds out of the bass. Trying the same with highs and mids, same result, great definition and lots of grunt. Finally the strings went on an ACG Recurve. This my "bells and whistles" bass. Filter based pre-amp, piezo bridge that is switchable with the bridge pickup and coil tapped humbucker. I was really interested to see how they would sound on the ACG as the pre-amp is obviously not your standard cut and boost jobbie. First impressions were that there is much more of everything available with the NYXL's. I hardly ever used the piezo setting as I found it to lack definition and any form of authority. With the NYXL's it sounded fantastic. You could get an almost double bass sound by playing with the filter stack, but with a ton of definition to it. Even though the strings had seen about 10 weeks heavy use, they still had the feel and sound from when they originally bedded in. Switching to the other 2 pickups and a similar story. Nice warm defined bottom end and clear bright top end. I will be leaving the strings on this bass as there is so much available with a filter based pre-amp that I want to continue exploring. So will I use thse strings in the future, Yes definately. There has been a noticable and welcome difference to all the basses I tried them on and a difference in previous D'Addario strings. They still sound great after a good degree of punishment and they feel nice under the fingers. Thanks to Andrew and D'Addario for giving me this opportunity to test them.
 15.
Is it still popular on the pop/functions circuit then? I wondered if it was the sort of song that might wane with that sort of audience.
Simple answer is Yes. I thought it would be one to chuck away after 3 months but still very popular and still getting plenty of airplay as well. Looks like a function standard now.
 16.
Hi Stuart. How kind you are. The Bass Collection basses have been mentioned quite a few times. I'll do some research and then get back to you if a try-out seems in order. What do you do with that extra string? Steve
There is a huge amount of info on here. Search for "Obscure Musical Backwaters". Don't confuse the original SGC Nanyo ones with the current versions marketed by The Bass Centre. They are completely different animals. Extra string? I use them all.
 17. Steve, I've got 3 Bass Collection 5 strings. Just over 7lbs so the 4 string would probably come in less. Welcome to come and try if you want. You'd pick one up for around £200 and they are pretty awesome, ( hence me having 3 of them ).
 18. + another for a box spanner although there does seem a fair amount of room around the nut so a ring spanner might work.
 19.
I'm not sure that buying another speaker would be cheaper than a recone. My first choice would be to get a recone.
+1 for the recone. Wembley Loudspeakers will do it for you and should be cheaper than a new one.
 20.
Saw Steve Vai in Brighton on Monday - brilliant show - so next up is presently a way off in October and The Tubes in Brighton followed 5 days later by GUN in Portsmouth. It's going to be a good week
Didn't know The Tubes were touring. Checked their website and they are playing Manchester. On it.
 21. Just seen Bruce Springsteen. Next is St Paul and The Broken Bones. Then Victor Wooten and finally Shakatak.
 22. Steve, our Singer/Sax Player had exactly the same condition and the symptoms were identical. I'm more than happy to have a chat about his experiences or if you want or drop into The John Millington in Cheadle on Friday. We are gigging there and I can speak to you then.
 23.
Jimmy Haslip not playing with them anymore?
He left a year or so ago.
 24. Been using these for ages. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Guitar-Fret-markers-Glow-in-the-dark-spots-3M-6900-luminescent-Film-/231958043177
 25.
I thought Parcel Monkey were basically an agency? (I might have got that wrong, but if I'm right,PM are not the people to deal with).
There are just a broker who use up space with a number of couriers, same as Interparcel, but that is who the contract was with and so they are the ones to deal with. I had a similar problem with Interparcel. Cab had obviously been dropped as the magnet had sheared off one of the speakers. I dealt with Interparcel and they paid up for a new driver. I did have £250 insurance with them though.
