1.
Hairdryer. It'll soften the glue & the stickers should just peel straight off. Any residue will wipe away with acetone or white spirit, neither of which will damage a polyurethane finish. Don't use a heat gun or you will take the whole finish off! Jon.
# +1. Should work a treat. Done exactly that myself.
2. Result.
3. Why not send some pics to Mesa and see if they can identify it. If it's discontinued, they could suggest the replacement.
4. I know someone has already mentioned the Bristol date but Victor Wooten is doing some other dates around the UK. June 28, The Fleece, Bristol June 29, Under the Bridge, London June 30, Gorilla, Manchester. (Got my tickets already) July 4, Brudenell Social Club, Leeds July 5, Komedia, Brighton
5. He's coming to Gorilla in Manchester as well.
6.
Thanks for all of your replies. I don't want to remove the Bartolini preamp, I use it a lot. It's just that with the East preamp that I had in my Modulus, it had a passive control too. I used to have the passive rolled off totally, and just used to adjust the highs using the active .
I actually converted an East J Retro to a J Retro de-luxe, (Ie added a passive tone control). John provided the control and if I remember correctly it was a dual concentric pot with 2 capacitors and fly leads. The leads went to the "hot" of each pickup at the input to the pre-amp and a common to earth. So effectively each pickup had it's own capacitor connected to it on the passive side of the pre-amp. I'm pretty sure the diagrams are still available on the East Tone website.
7.
I just noticed that thomann are selling Harley Benton b-stock. They might have moved all the decos there?
They've always sold B-stock which are customer returns or ex-display and sold as perfect with a warranty. May be the odd scratch but tested and passed. No warranty or returns on Deko as they are sold as faulty. So can't see them being able to palm Dekos off as B-Stock.
8. Now that is some nice neat constuction and a lovely big toroidal xformer. Impressive.
9.
There is no volume drop at all when switching or blending. First bass I've had without volume drop issues. That of course doesn't include if I've boosted with the eq but I don't.
That is one of the features of the East pre-amp. The Noll is effectively the same design of blend control that John uses in all his products.
10. Here's a solution. If you use a passive blend, there is likely to be an overall volume drop as you blend one way or another. Noll make an active Blend which gets rid of this issue and actually has 2 small driver amps in each part of the circuit so you can set each pickup gain seperately. Called the "Mixpot" http://noll-electronic.de/guitar-electronics/mixpot/ This would, IMHO, be a perfect answer and the battery boxes would be used. The switches could be whatever you like, even DFA's. I wired a passive blend once and I didn't like it.
11.
Unbelievable. One of the greatest live performers I've ever seen.
+1 to that. Absolutely gutted but thankfully I got to see him live. Awesome performance.
12.
This was on my radar, way back when i got my OTB 500. It still is and i'd like to A/B one with a LMIII.
If you do that you'll buy one. Plug in to a Little Mark, (and I am talking the analogue version not the Class-D one), and you go, "that sounds really good. Leave the controls alone. I'm happy" then plug into a WT550 and you go, "Wow, that is awesome. Nothing to do, I'm ecstatic." The Eden has so much natural tone it is amazing. The thing is built like a tank and actually uses military grade construction. There used to be a picture on the Eden website of a WT that was in a studio when the studio caught fire. It looked very sad covered in smoke residue and all the plastic control knobs had melted but they switched it on and it still worked.
13.
I have a Markbass LM2. I certainly wouldn't describe it as sterile - so it's not a feature of the whole range, but maybe just the F500.
Me neither or the SA450 for that matter but the older LM2/3 and SA450 are Class A/B heads and the F1/500 are Class D, (as is the LM3 now). I've never get on with Class D and I used an LM2 in a rock band whilst also playing in a Soul/Funktion band. Did both jobs a treat.
14. Like the look of it. Subscribed. Can't wait to hear what you think of it.
15. Thanks all for the interest but it is now Sold.
16.
Can i have 2nd dibs if it hasnt gone already. Pm on the way Thanks
More like 7th dibs. There's a bit of a queue. Subject to the usual, it's sold.
17. Was it Insured? I had a similar incident with a Schroeder Cab that was sent via Interparcel. When it arrived there was an ominous rattling around inside the package and one of the magnets had sheared off the driver. Fortunately it was insured and they paid for a new driver.
18. You all know the score with the Harley Benton Deko's. If not they are supposed to be unplayable decorative items, but over time many have been bought and you can't find fault with them, I have a 5 String Acoustic Bass I bought as a Deko and it's mint so I went for this one as well. Can't find anything wrong with it. It plays well, sounds just like it should, P-Bass thump from the neck pickup and Jazz growl from the bridge. It's in a nice Trans Red and not a mark on it. I bought it for something that is now not going to happen so it is in it's original box doing nothing. I couldn't get on with the HB "hooked" headstock, so that has been reprofiled and resulted in the transfer disappearing. I also tried a different bridge on it, but it is back to original now. Original packaging with it. It cost me about £50 delivered, so a 20% saving and you don't have to wait for one to come up. 19. Why not fit a Stinger pre-amp from Retrovibe. These are based on what is the "Holy Grail" of Stingray electronics, the Classic Stingray 2-band Active Tone Circuit. At £49 it is a much cheaper option and from what I understand they are supposed to be incredible. http://www.retrovibe.co.uk/stinger.html
20.
Thanks Stuart, that's a great idea, will have a look at that. That could be a bit of a revelation, cos all the cool jazzes come with rosewood boards . Thanks again. I KNEW I wasn't the only one with this "passing of time" issue
They work really well. I have used them for years.
21. I can relate to this Karl. I use these or Luminlay on all my basses. Really great and a cheap fix. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Glow-in-the-dark-dots-Luminescent-spot-stickers-Fret-markers-3M-6900-Film-/131747472749?hash=item1eacc2e56d:g:utwAAOSwAKxWaFE2 10mm might be a bit large but you can get smaller ones either from eBay in the States or Rothko and Frost do them and the little UV charging torches. Sorry to highjack your sale thread but thought it was worth the heads-up.
22. I've just reshaped the headstock on a Harley Benton and found a Detail Sander did the trick and pretty efficiently. If you have a lot of wood to remove using a Jigsaw first would be the way to go leaving some "meat" to finish off with the sander.
23. I really think you need to get out and play through as much back line gear as you can. To decide on Hartke just because you played through one in a shop or a Hartke/Ampeg rig because that is what your friend has could be an expensive excercise. If everyone liked the same gear we would all be playing P Basses through Ampeg Flip Tops and nothing else would exist. There is so much out there that the world is really your oyster. If you are anywhere near Bass Direct, get in there and try what they have, (vast), and get some solid advice from Mark.
24. Lovely Bass and fantastic value for money. BTW you have it strung wrong. The E and G string wrap the opposite way round. So looking at it from the front it should be Left/Right/Left Right.
25.
Absolute bargain.
=1 to that.
