1.
What' the weight?
I asked Bart the same question, and it's 3.9Kg or 8.5 lbs in old money. Stuart.
2. Are the leads 5 or 13 pin DIN? If 13, I'd be interested.
3. Chris, you might find this topic useful. This is a subject that comes up a lot and the advice is pretty much the same every time. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/267442-active-pa-speakers/ The Audio Works UK is worth a look. They have a pretty good clearance list. Generally previous models being cleared out.
4. OK, I'll give you a shout when they are here.
5. Mike, I am about to order an East pre-amp with black controls. I can order Chrome instead and do a swap if you can hang on a couple of days until it arrives.
6. The Bass Doc on here. He seems to be the "go to" man for scratchplates. Failing that Mike Walsh of Iceni Zoot fame will do one.
7.
They're not all perfect. My acoustic has some finish flaws. Peering at your photo, I think it is just a lacquer crack. If it is deeper, and you've just received it, don't forget that you can return it if you want.
I'll get a good look tomorrow and as it isn't mine it's up to the singist to decide. If it is only cracked lacquer, for £40 I'd keep it.
8.
I don't think we're ever going to find out why these instruments are described as 'dekos'.
Well there was bound to be one.... Having extolled the virtues of my 5 string koostik and the fact several of my bass playing buddies couldn't find a thing wrong with it, our vocalist ordered a 4 string for a present for our female vox. This is what turned up........ A REAL DEKO. Not a particularly good pic as taken with an iPhone and not sure if it just a laquer crack or the actual body. I'll get to see it in the flesh tomorrow. So don't assume that every one of them will be perfect.
9.
is that a crack by the control plate?
I thought that as well.
10. http://www.acguitars.co.uk/acg_admin/wordpress/ I'm sure Alan, ACG, did one. I seem to remember talking about it at the last UK Bass Day. Unless you ask for something different his Filter Based pre is the standard on all his custom bases. Worth contacting him as it never went into production, but you never know.
11. Another vote for G&L L2000/2500. Save yourself a fortune and go for the "Tribute" version. I looked at both and couldn't see the additional £1K.
12. Cannot belive this is still here. A high end bass for Squire money.
13. I went to the Manchester one and we did have the pleasure of Yolanda Charles, it was her last gig with the tour. What happens is that the Band chart the history of the 4 American Series instruments, Telecaster, P-Bass, Stratocaster and Jazz Bass by playing what are considered Iconic tunes that featured those Instruments. As a "for instance", a bit Dr Feelgood and Police for the Tele. A bit of Floyd and Chic (?), for the P Bass etc. There's a video at the beginning of each instrument with the Fender corporate "blurb" No Vocals and a fair amount of talk about the instruments. There were a couple of instruments available to try, and I do mean a couple, and a fair amount of interaction with the audience. They are also carrying round an unknown, (well to me anyway), Indie band who did a set at the end. I actually enjoyed it although knowing Yolanda Charles and Rob Harris can sing, it might have been an idea to introduce a few words. Yolanda was singing along to most anyway. For free, I thought it was OK, but I certainly wouldn't have paid.
14. That's impressive SS. So a 500K Log needed.
15. Here you go. Axesrus http://www.axesrus.co.uk/Alpha-Pots-s/1877.htm Most passive Vol controls are 250K Log, (audio) so just a question of the shaft length, ( o'er misses ), and the diameter.
16. As a previous owner of this bass, I can confirm it is a stonker. With an East J-Retro it is absolutely epic. Actually these bases were never really active Nik. They were passive but with an active "mid range boost" circuit. You pulled the tone pot and it switched in the boost control. I have the circuit diagram that Gary Levinson sent me when I made some enquiries about the pre-amp.
17. My Pleasure.
18. Here you go.
19. [s]I've a spare ticket for the Manchester show tomorrow if anyone can use it.[/s] Ticket now gone.
20. +3 The problem with powered mixers is if you get a problem with the power amp section you have lost the mixer whilst it is being fixed, and vice versa. Also, and I will stand to be corrected, but most powered mixers are only up to about 500w + 500w, which probably won't cover all eventualities. Passive mixer and active speakers every time.
21. Hi Cal, I got a PM wanting these just before your posting, so now gone.
22. I'm in the "just buy a cab" camp. You have the same amp that is used in the combo so just get a 2x10 ir 1x12 cab.
23.
Manchester booked
I'm going to the Manchester one Alain. Beer?
