1.
maybe they were too good..??
A statement I would not argue with. Best Cab I have ever owned.
2. For Sale section ?
3. If you have the option I would go for 1 cab per output for a very simple reason. If the cabs are daisy chained and the cable to the first cab breaks down you get complete silence. Using both outputs you have a degree of redundancy in that if 1 cable goes, you still have 1 cab working.
4. If you want to keep a tweeter replace it with a Stage Line HT-30 Minature Horn Tweeter. £12-13 online. This is what most CMD121P owners have done if they want to keep a tweeter. Little bit of filing may be needed but the difference is amazing. Or disconnect it and it becomes a Jeff Berlin Combo.
5. Have you checked in the control cavity to confirm the pickup is a 2 wire one? I had a 5 string Basic with a Delano MM pickup and it was 4 wire, (although wred in parralel). I just got the wiring diagram from the Delano website and put a coil-tap switch in, ( series/parallel/single ). Worked a treat and the difference in the settings was really noticeable.
6. I've got a CMD121 and love it. Also have an NY121 to add to it for a full rig that is never lacking. I know you could add a Blackline cab to the Jeff Berlin but not sure that a 250W rig would cut it all the time. I guess what I am saying is the CMD is "future proof". If it is only for home use or a VERY quiet band the Jeff Berlin would do it.
7. Been using them for years. Just bought my guitarist son a pair.
8. I've been round the houses with lightweight amps but always kept my LMII and now use either a CMD121 Combo, which has a LMIII head in it or an SA450. My only concern with a new LMIII is that apparently they are now using the Big Bang Class D output stage & having tried just about every Class D around, I just don't find they have the "clout" of the Class A/B section in the MB analogue amps. I can't see me ever moving away from MB and if it were me, I'd be after a decent 2nd hand analogue amp and you are set for life.
9. It looks like the Gumtree one is using stock images from a Google search. The eBay one has a mix of what appear to be real pics and a couple lifted from a Google search. Unfortunately at least 1 pic is the same. Not sure it is the same item and the Manc one does prefer collection, so difficult to see that one as a scam.
10. Pete, Is he an "ex" club keyboard player by any chance? You know the type that used to back the "turns" with a Drummer. If so that could explain all as they had to sound like a complete band. I think you depped for me when we had Alan, (right bloody pain he was), playing keys. He was a club player and IMHO did the same thing. Played too loud and very heavy on the left hand. Current player, Keith, is different altogether as he has been playing in bands almost from the start. I have been playing with him on and off for years and never had that issue. The stupid thing is that left hand could be doing so much more if he wasn't treading on your toes. I would have to record some numbers and play them back with the band for comment. Maybe even compare to another band. I am sure our set-list is similar to yours, so I could probably provide audio/video of some numbers to compare. Glad you have found a singist by the way.
11. There is a UK company that sell the same thing, Rothko and Frost http://www.rothkoand...-dot-inlay-rod/ I have used these and also Luminlay and can't tell the difference.
12. I would also consider one of the original Bass Collections. They always come up on here for around £150 - 200 and are outstanding. I've got 3. Even more left for lessons which I would definately recommend.
13.
We work backwards from "what will the audience like" and "will it fit in with the rest of our set".... and I don't care what I play as long as the punters like it!
Same as us and we are lucky that eveyone is happy with that arrangement, although it tends to be a case of "can we do a decent version" rather than will it fit.
14.
Is the amp head a standard unit outside of the cab or would it need an outer casing if it was separated from the cab?
It's a standard RH450 head, nothing extra required if you remove it. TC just add a small housing to the top of a standard cab.
15.
Does the stage line fit straight in or is there some cutting / filing involved?
There is a bit of cutting/filing involved. Check post #15.
16. Here you go. Look for my answer. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/181125-fender-mustang-decal/
17. Not really comparing like for like. The Fender is a Class D 2x10, the MarkBass a Class A/B single 12 in a tiny cab, although with the 112H or NY121 is a stonking rig. Looking at the spec of the Fender, it is pretty similar to the Genz Benz Contour, and it would make sense after Fender buying Genz, and burying them, that they use the technology. I had a Contour for a while and found it massively underwhelming. In it's Combo format it would not cut it at all and my band ain't loud. I have 2 MB rigs and of late have mainly used a 121P Combo on it's own and Di'd into the PA, or on it's own with a NY121. Never found it lacking. Loads of headroom, great tone and really cuts through as Lozz says.
18. Here's a post about the same thing that came up recently. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/249934-luminlay-markers/page__p__2615106__hl__luminlay__fromsearch__1#entry2615106
19. Another vote for Interparcel. Don't touch Parcelforce, they won't insure musical instruments.
20. Flat board, asymmetric neck, heaven.
21. There is a UK company that sell the same thing, Rothko and Frost http://www.rothkoandfrost.com/ip-luminous-glow-in-the-dark-side-fret-marker-dot-inlay-rod/ I have used these and also Lumnlay and can't tell the difference. If you want genuine Luminlay, don't worry about ordering, they are spot on.
22. Could I state the obvious. It's a pre-owned amp and the first time you try it is with a cab from a studio/rehearsal room, so how do you know if the issue is with the amp, cab or lead. Have you not tried it with a cab you KNOW is OK? As a long time MarkBass user my opinion is they are Loud.
23. Careful with a Standback. I got one and it wouldn't work with a 1x12. A lot of Bass Cabs are too deep or not high enough and it won't tilt back. I did contact the people who make Standback and they were aware of the issue as it was designed primarily for Guitar Amps.

25.
That`s both interesting and confusing, why bring out a higher powered version of an amp but make it sound different. May as well call it by a different name/model number.
As MarkBass gear is modular in it's construction, I assume the 500w version will have the analogue A/B power section as in the LMIII and the 800 will be a Class D.
