1. I put a "Fecker Pretender Bass" on a bitsa I built. Looked remarkably genuine from a distance.
2. AxeRUs sell them as well and they tend to come in a proper Artec Blister Pack with instructions. I have used both SE2 and SE3 and been impressed with both. Funnily enough I put and SE2 in my first Bass Collection very soon after getting it. Absolutely transformed it. Not sure if your problem with the original Bass Collection pre-amp was the same as mine, (Blend Control useless), but when I bought my 2nd Bass Collection and had the same problem, I thought it was a bit weird. Discovered the blend control is not where you expect, (behind the volume), it is BELOW the Vol, where the Treble control normally resides. The control behind the Volume is the Bass. Easily sussed with mine as the pots were labelled inside.
3. What is the impedance of the Trace Cab? If it is less than 8 Ohms, there is your problem. The Combo already has an 8 Ohm driver and will only accept an 8 Ohm or above extension. is the Combo happy on it's own? Personally I wouldn't dream of using anything other than a MarkBass cab as an additional speaker as it will be perfectly matched size wise and more importantly sonically. The Trace won't.
4. Monday morning bump.
5. Nice spot Pete. One of my favorite numbers featured in one of my favorite films, The Lincoln Lawyer.
6. Love the sound of the guitarist. Proper Fender Strat sound.
7. Looks like a G&L El Toro Pete.
8.
These make great usb interfaces too, I have had mine plugged into my mac using garageband and the rythm function is great to practise along to
Cheers H for that. There are a staggering number of features on this pedal and the rhythm function is fantastic. You can set a groove up and just jam along to it.
9. I have been after a double gig bag to carry my pair of Bass Collections around for ages. I tend to take the BC's to venues that are, shall we say, not the most salubrious and the only options seemed to be the likes of Mono, which would cost me more than the basses did.. Warwick used to do a reasonably priced one but the basses were stored back-back which would not be my first choice. After some "Googling" I found a Madarozzo Double Gig Bag which seemed to fit the bill. Only stockist as far as I could see was Sound Unlimited in Portsmouth. Made contact, no stock, we'll order one. 5 months later and it's here. Took it out on Saturday night and it's spot on. Reasonable amount of protective padding. Pockets for Leads/Straps etc and even the obligatory phone holder on one of the shoulder straps. Restraining straps inside for the neck and it looks the part as well. At £49, I reckon it's a bargain. Madarozzo is part of Peter Ritter's empire and he was absolutely incredible when I ordered it. When I couldn't find any stock I sent an email through the Madarozzo website and he answered personally after checking all retail outlets in UK for any stock. After I put the order in he told me when the consignment had arrived and even sorted out a "cock-up" when the distributors couldn't find it, (change in model numbers). Great Customer Service. Here's some pics. 10.
First of all you need to know your bass part so you can play it unconsciously. You then need to learn your vocals separately, and finally put them together.
Spot on and that is exactly what Yolanda Charles advocates. She did a Masterclass at the UK Bass Day in Manchester a few years back and demonstrated the process. Learn both parts in isolation and then starting off VERY slowly, bring the 2 together. It does work. I always struggled with "Higher & Higher". Easy bassline but when I tried Backing Vox with it, all went to pieces. Used the YT method and "Bingo".
11. The Epiphone version is a monster as is the Aria TAB65?, which also looks similar.
12.
Similar to an Eastwood Classic 4. Not a rebadge as the body shape is different. There are lots of similar basses. I'm not sure what the original bass was that inspired both the Eastwood and the Harley Benton. Gretsh G6072?
They are modeled on the Epiphone Rivoli aren't they? I mean the original made in the US 1960's Rivoli. Not sure Epiphone did a 2 pickup version. Our bass player in the Soul Band from the 60's had one.
13. +1 for Bass Collection. I have 2 of them. Both 5 Stringers and a whisker over 7lbs each of them. Great basses with quality hardware. I've got an irreparable back problem and sold all basses over 8lbs.
14. Since 2008, so 6+ years. Here's the full story. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/3725-carvin-marleaux-bb75-custom-made-bass/page__hl__carvin I swapped the pre-amp for a 3-band Glockenklang one a couple of years ago and that has made it even better. There is a very personal story attached to the purchase of this bass and as I said above, it's going nowhere.
15. I've got a Bunny Brunel, but with a Marleaux neck, (long story). Great Bass and going nowhere.
16. +1 to both comments above. The other thing about using Subs is most have a Low Pass Filter, so you will only get frequencies of around 140Hz and below.
17. Funnily enough a mate of mine had the same problem with exactly the same cab. He plays in a 60's band and needs the authenic look. We ended changing th 18 for a 15 after a bit of WinSD modeling. If i can find the original data and the driver we used, I will let you know. End result was pretty damn good.
18. We use Google Calendar. Everyone has their own and visibility of each other's. You do get "malfunctions" though. I have bee trying to get the band to use "Where's the Gig" as it looks really good. http://www.wheresthegig.com/
19. That has pretty much nailed it Jay.
20. It's all been said I reckon and in quite a bit of detail. I always get over the "Well you only charged £X for playing the local pub and you want £Y for my Wedding" argument by saying: "Just give 6 Emergency Plumbers a call and ask them how much they would charge to work from 5:00pm until 2:00am the following day and we will do it for half." Sometimes a reality check is all that's needed. Also an interesting fact, In a recent survey carried out by a leading wedding website, shortly after their weddings 72% of people wished they'd spent more on their evening entertainment.
21. I use a MarkBass head and never touch the EQ. Leave it flat and occasionally use the VLE/VPF controls. That's it.
22. Just take a Jack to Jack cable from Tuner Out to your Tuner In. The signal is on all the time.
