1. I've used both the 2 and 3 band ones and they are exceptional for the money. The only thing that lets them down is the pots. They seem to get quite "scratchy" quickly. East to get rid of by just rotating them a couple of times but better pots would make them pretty unbeatable.
2. Zoom all in one Effects Pedal. Amp Models, loads of Effects, Expression/Wah Pedal, Tuner, Di etc.etc. All the details are here. http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/b21u Great condition as only used a couple of times. Boxed, Power Supply, Cubase LE included. 3.
Our PA guru is not a fan of JBL gear he feels it is way too expensive to repair when compared to any of its rivals,
Probably due to using Crown Power Amps. They ain't the cheapest in the world.
4. I sent a guitar to my son in Prague and I think it cost me about £30 insured.
5. Reckon it is do-able the way you outline, (power amp and x-over for Subs), but having used some PRX715's, I don't think you will use the subs much. The 715's are a fantastic speaker and we had 3 x Vox, Harmonica, Keys, Kick and Overhead through them and they coped really well.
6.
It's a very subjective thing - some people seem to pick up on it, and others don't. I noticed with my AI Focus, Streamliner and TC RH450 that although I could hear the notes, and they were loud, they just lacked impact. They felt almost hollow.
Beat me too it and couldn't have described it better. I tried an RH450 twice and really wanted to like it, then tried an Eden WT550 and the difference was obvious. So much more "balls and presence".
7. MarkBass LM 2/3, LMK and SA450 are all Class A/B. Not sure about The Eden Traveller, (even though I have had one), but wouldn't exactly call it lightweight.
8. A long shot, but Is anyone by chance going down to the Mids Bass Bash tomorrow from say Stoke/Stafford area, (ie closer to Manchester), and be prepared to pick a Combo up for me, which I would in turn collect from them?
9. Is anyone by chance going down to the Mids Bash from say Stoke/Stafford area, (ie closer tom Manchester), and be prepared to pick a Combo up for me, which in turn I'll collect from them?
10. I've got the same pre-amp in my Carvin/Marlleaux clone. Fabulous bit of kit.
11. Remarkably similar headstock to the Lakland. Could that be an indication as to who makes them?
12. Rod Stewart - Steam Packet and Faces
13. I had exactly the same problem and am a bit older than you. A Chiropractor identified the issue and has hopefully sorted it, (including a posture problem that was one major concern), but we agreed that lightweight was the way to go. Already using a Markbass/Zoot rig so all the >8lb basses were sold. Although I have 2 gorgeous ACG's, I seem to be using my "around 7lb" Bass Collections more. Result
14. Going slightly off post, one of my "find" albums from years ago was Jess Roden's first album. I picked it up in the Comet bargain box for 75p. Only bought it as I recognised "On Broadway" but I had seen him when he was with the Alan Bown Set and thought for that price it's worth a look. I was a guitarist at that stage but loved the bass lines on the album. Only recently discovered that the album was recorded in New Orleans and The Meters were the backing band. 15. It looks exactly the same as the basses they made for Trace Elliot, (T Bass???). So maybe they also made some under the Status banner.
16.
I make that 1800w..???
If it is the one in the link then 1200W, I think. The Elements kit is a mixture of Active/Passive components, so if you had 2 Bins and 4 tops, 150w each but passive feeding off the bins, you end up with 1200W. If you had 2 additional amps, the ones that just plug in to the top of the bins replacing the pole you would get an additional 300W per side. The Active bins on their own are rated at 300W and can feed 2 passive tops, (150W each) or a passive bin, (300W), to get the full 600W.
17. Rob Gilmour, who is a member on here, has been using one for a couple of years. I think it is a Band 1 they use and put a whole band includig keys, brass and backing through it. I know he rates it highly. Could always drop him a PM.
18. Pall of mine does them. Here is an example of a Bass and a Guitar he did.
19. I've done the standard and de-luxe J-Retro in a a Blade Jazz and a Bacchus and they are dead easy. Difference is amazing.
20.
Very nice - mind if I ask how you managed to get a decal for the headstock? as I've considered the same thing myself.
I've had a few deacls made by Dec-Art Decals and they were superb. He can do virtually anything.
21. +1 for Manchester Bass Lounge. Well worth sorting an appointment out and you will be in bass heaven. Drew does a decent coffee as well.
22. Another vote for ACG. Mike Walsh of Zoot fame would also be worh a try. He has done a good few 1 offs.
23. US Import TC products are not covered by their warranty in the UK.
