1. Thanks for that, I might take the plunge
2. Has anyone had one of these from the 1990s? It is this version with P and J style pick-ups. There is one being sold locally with a maple neck. I would just like people's thoughts before I start thinking of a reason to justify this to she who does not understand or condone GAS Thanks
3. Just looked at their site. Purely on looks alone they are beautiful. I'm a sucker for different woods and grains. Shame my ability would never do one justice.
4.
Well, Cresus I am not, but I've just splashed out the princely sum of 3€98 on the download of all the subject matter on that site I linked to, all 150 pages of it. The Anthology part (over 450 pages...) was free. I'm now set up for a fair few long winter nights honing my skills in music theory. Not a bad deal, I think, but, for those reticent to empty the bank on trust, the information is there, subject by subject, for free, if one wants to just dip in and test the water. It's not going to get any cheaper than that.
Thanks, just downloaded this, looks fantastic and should help me achieve my goal of understanding basic theory by Spring
5. came across this company when working in Shields last week. I don 't know anything about them but may be a handy resource if doing a self build http://www.chguitars.co.uk/ Good luck with the build, would be great if you could do a diary of the build for us to enjoy
6. Nice, and you can't go wrong at that price, enjoy
7. It all sounds strange and you're right to have concerns, but if you get English currency (and in mean English cos i wouldn't know i forged Scottish note from a real one and i live in Northumberland where lots circulate) up front and you're happy it is real then no issues. I'm not sure about photocopying docs, i wouldn't let you copy mine cos of identity fraud.
8.
I wonder if Mrs Badsign has posted on a shoes forum something like, "Ive got £700 squirrelled away for new Jimmy Choos, do you think I should give half to the old man to buy a bit of wood with some metal bits on it?"
No you're way off the mark there. Mrs BS isn't mad on shoes, her posts will be on http://www.thebagforum.com/ in the Mulberry section
9. Encore P bass in Sunburst, that I was given for free. I had new strings and the action lowered on it and the intonation isn't bad, but it just doesn't float my boat, so want something else, rather than upgrade. I don't need additional motivation to play but it would be nice to have a bass that inspires me. Farrida, FenderJazz, Bass Collection... All great suggestions I'm sure, but you are seriously overloading my braincell with too much choice. (perhaps I should buy them all...anyone want to purchase 2 tickets to see Neil Diamond LOL
10. I have taken on board all the comments, visited a shop yesterday and tried out everything 4 string below £500 (plus one Jazz in sea foam green for £650, wow what a colour...very tempted) Love CV and VM range and I know my current level of skill is way below their potential. I didn't buy one as I want to go for used and prepared to wait I did however buy Mrs BS tickets for Neil Diamond in Blackpool this July. Now able to hunt down a bass and tutor guilt-free. I love the idea of getting a new bass that closely resembles the old one (reminds me of my golfing days, "that club darling, that is old, had it ages"
11. Once more thanks for the comments and advice. 100% want lessons, so going to keep my bass budget to £300 max, unless I see one in Seafoam Green (see Delbertot) that is a must have colour, stunning.
