[Sold] Squier Vintage Modified P 5 String [Sold]
BassBunny replied to BASainty's topic in Basses For Sale
5kg doesn't sound right. As you say these basses are delight to play in terms of their weight. Mine weighs in at 4.1kg or 9.1lbs whichever you prefer.
Must admit that doesn't make it featherweight to me either. 11Lbs is a boat anchor. -
All depends on the country @BassBunny. Looked at sending a wee box 20 x 15 x 15 weighing 1Kg to Milan last week. £31 was the cheapest.
I would have thought UK to Prague is not as far as UK to Totana. Strange.
@CamdenRob I just checked flights to Denmark Rob, Ryanair are £20 return London to Copenhagen. Damn sight cheaper than a courier.
But they would probably charge about £100 to throw the Bass in the hold and damage it beyond recognition.
I shipped 3 basses to a fella in Totana,Spain last month. It was in a big Thomann box so say 1400 x 1000 x 180 and weighed 20Kg. Total cost was £39 and he had them by the fourth day. I booked using UPS via Interparcel. Extra insurance over £100 cost 2%. Ask the buyer to bank transfer the funds as Dan Dare's right PayPal will protect the buyer if anything goes wrong, leaving you to deal with the courier. Could be I've just been lucky but I've sent and received plenty items from Europe without a glitch.
Wow, Interparcel must have jacked their prices up then. Looked at sending 2 Guitars over to CZ for my Son. Same Thomann Box, weighed 14KG and they wanted £107 plus Insurance. Crazy thing is doing it as 2 separate packages is about £30 each. That said, I would still favour them. Have had to claim recently on their Insurance and no arguments and paid out fairly quickly and Interparcel use UPS.
Saw them early 70s .....think it was supporting Santana in Glasgow Greens Playhouse.........they were probably one of the best live bands that I have ever seen. And the horn section....Phoenix Horns? as tight as.
I saw that tour as well, in Liverpool. No one knew them then and they were awesome. Crowd wouldn't let them go and Santana came on stage and moved them off in a right hissy fit. Don't know how many times I've seen them and even though they are now really only "Earth", they still put on an awesome show. It's funny reading JT's commnts about Verdine White as last time I saw them as the 3 remaining members, Phil Bailey had his wife helping him out off stage but they did credit her at the end of the show.

G&l tribute active and dying battery dilemma
BassBunny replied to kevvo66's topic in Repairs and Technical
Kev, the G&L is actually already passive. It has passive bass and treble controls with a line driver after the vol and tone section. If you want passive just switch it to passive or take the battery out. Regarding the eating of batteries, assuming you are unplugging the lead, the likelihood is a problem with the jack socket shorting out and draining the battery. -
Anything with a headphone jack?
-
Why not just get something like a Phil Jones headphone amp?
-
As an avid MarkBass user, IMHO I don't think you can go wrong if you can get a stellar deal. I have been using MB amps for so long I can't remember and have always been pleased with the result. Like everyone else I used to carry some pretty heavy gear around in the day. Never regretted going lightweight for one moment.
Guys, what's the cheapest way to transfer Adrian the money, please?
Use a currency transfer service such as Currency Change. You get a guaranteed rate of exchange and no charges as it's a BACS transfer to CC. Will be with the recipient in a matter of hours. I played a couple off against each other for a Euro payment to get the best rate.

I've got a Bartolini NTMB in one of my Bass Collections. It sounds fantastic with the original SGC pick-ups. Can also recommend Glockenklang pre-amps. Very neutral, put the 3 band in my Carvin. Great to have the Active/Passive option.
I've been reading the Class D / "Heft" arguments with interest and I'm beginning to wonder how much of an influence an older style preamp would have with a Class D power amp, even if the weight went up a bit.
I have been thinking exactly the same thing. Having tried virtually every Class D available, I was unimpressed by all of them in a gig situation. I realised that I haven't tried a Class D with a pre-amp containing a Valve. There seems to be a lot of love for the Class D/Valve Pre construction so i may have to have one final attempt.
Do they offer a 3 year warranty like Thomann ?
Yes they do and I think it is a 60 day free return policy. Been using them for a while, when they are cheaper, no problems at all. Think there is another posting on here about them.
the headstock though
Easily re-shaped
Thanks all, useful info. I'll give your most kind offer some serious thought MrBB. What are the neck dive issues like on these basses? Are the necks firmly in P bass territory for general lack of slimness?
You are welcome Alain. Just let me know and we'll sort something out.

I've got one of the Harley Benton PJ's. Got it as a Deko for the princely sum of £43.73 delivered. Even with the newly installed Wilkinson Vintage Bridge, (the stock item isn't that good) and new CTS Pots, Orange Drop Capacitor, Switchcraft Jack and some beefy cloth wiring, it still comes in at only £83,45. You wouldn't lose much moving that on. You are more than welcome to borrow it if you want. We rehearse, (when we rehearse), in Chorley so getting it to you shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Genzler Amplification Magellan 800 - now released!
BassBunny replied to Ghost_Bass's topic in Amps and Cabs
Sounds like the "Contour" control is like the MarkBass VPF/VLE controls in one.
