  8. Stick it on with some double sided tape and glue fake screw heads onto the pick guard. (I'm being about 75% serious actually..!)

  9. But isn't part of the 'Ric' sound caused by having two truss rods that don't work properly?? *runs away*

  10. Errm... no. Especially given Kodiakblair's recent trials and tribulations with Paisley... I might consider a 50s -style pin-up though, that would be in keeping with the vibe.

  11. It's a possibility... courtesy of, and with thanks to, Mr Kodiakblair.

  14. Given your popularity, I'd say you are faced with an unreasonably large task if you take it all on. Good luck with that. You needn't worry. We're a casual lot for the most part. So, what brings you to this forum? I'm betting you aren't looking for tips on slap technique or the TAB showing how to play the intro to Wherever I Lay my Hat as played by Pino Palladino...

  19. We always get the drums set up first, with my amp on drummer's left and geetar on his right. Then we all drop 3 tabs of acid each and start on the Buckfast to prepare ourselves...

  20. First cd better than the second imho... Saw them live at Mcr Academy soon after they released the second - they were dreadful. Complete shambles. Still love the cleverness of the lyrics and range of genres parodied in the first though.

  21. I’ve just tried a set of fender flats for the first time - I have basses with la Bellas, Thomastiks, and quite a few Chromes on (my preference) - the Fenders are pretty much as good as the others - I have a preference for the feel of the Chromes - but otherwise they are just as good

  23. I used to have a CMD121P combo to which I added a NY121P cab. The increase in volume sounds more like four times and the fullness of sound is amazing. Do it now!!! As I already had a LM3 I sold the combo and bought another NY121P cab for my lightweight rig of LM3 plus two NY121P cabs.

  24. For me the key to unlocking the answer here is in your first statement: you 'love the portability and sound'. If that's the case, then having something that you already really like is worth a lot when evaluating your options. The missing piece of the jigsaw is a lack of volume. My suggestion would be to get a MB 121 NY cab (and even better, if there's one available second hand in very good condition) to pair with your CMD 121P. This should do five useful things: a) increase the output of your amp from 300W to 500W; b) double the amount of air that your single cab is shifting; The combined effect of the above two will be: c) a considerable increase in volume which I'd be very surprised if it didn't meet your needs. (For comparison I have a MB AC 121 Lite which puts 500W through a single 12" speaker and I've never had to push this more than half way on either the volume or gain knobs. I'd expect your rig, with the additional 12" speaker, to be louder than mine, so you should have plenty of headroom). d) you will have the flexibility to just use your single 300W combo for smaller events and the full rig for larger events; e) the fifth (not to be dismissed) point is that you will have a matching / compact / lightweight rig with many admirers(!) which you should not have any difficulty in moving on if / when you decide to do so. ...just my tuppence worth - hope that's of some use

  25. I've never tried. But playing along right now to some 'new' Grateful Dead CDs (21 discs 1971 live) is enough fun for me!

  26. Sort of back in the workshop today, mostly waiting for the replacement binding to arrive but out postman was late as usual and didn't arrive until nearly 4pm so at least I can get that redone tomorrow. What I did do was rout the recesses for the control cavity covers and made a former for the body bindings so I should get those done tomorrow too

  30. Nice. Also f-hole dependent. But I think cream works without a guard. There is also the option of a black guard, just to confuse the issue...

  33. That definitely qualifies as weird or wonderful, depending on your point of view... My other half would have a fit if I brought that home, which almost makes it worthwhile on it's own!

  34. Yes, I remember the endless debates about Geddy Lee switching between his 4001 and his Jazz, and how he clearly unmistakably used the 4001 recording tom sawyer, as it sounded so much like it and he used it in the video. Until he came out and said it was recorded using the jazz.

  36. Mine was a wreck when I got it, I bought it back to life with a lot of TLC and every time it goes out the house I make a point of dinging it again. It's lovely. At the last gig I did with my old band I actually threw it across the stage in a bit of a rage.

  37. For sale is this beautiful 2018 Elrick USA. The handcraft is flawless. The ergonomics and playability are the best I have come across. Sound is very versatile due to good woods, very useable eq and excellent pickups. The instrument has been played mostly at home, and it has seen only 1 gig. Not a single scratch or mark. All in all, a spectacular bass. The reason for selling is that the wenge neck was not my thing after all, I'm more maple neck guy. And gas for something new, as usual. Swamp ash body gorgeous walnut burl top wenge neck and fingerboard 34” scale and 18 mm string spacing, very comfortable (option) Aero pickups that can be used in dual or single coil mode ($650 option) Bartolini 3 band eq with bass, treble and switchable midrange active/passive switch weight 3.9 kg (very light!) original hard case included The price with these options would be $4450 plus customs and taxes. I am asking 2600€ or £2300 for it. The bass is located in Finland (EU area) and can be shipped anywhere at buyers expense. I may consider trades for a high quality 5-stringer around the same price range, such as Mtd or Fbass, or perhaps some cheaper easily selling bass, such as Fenders (+/- cash). Thanks for watching.
