  2. When I had a jazz bass I changed the pickguard from white to tort to black, and for some time I played it without a pickguard. I would probably do the same again if I ever got another one as changing the pickguard is so easy on a jazz. If I buy a secondhand one and a previous owner had hacked up the pickup cavity, it would pee me off a lot, and if this was disclosed before the sale (as it should be) I wouldn't buy it.
  3. Fender Champion 50XL in excellent condition.... never left the house. Has built-in voices and effects (see pics). Includes postage or can knock a few quid off if collected.
  4. A well modified instrument will probably lose value on the original. A badly hacked one even worse so. If it's under the pickguard - it might be OK - just ensure it is declared up front to avoid any comeback later on.
  5. have you already found that fingerboard oil? I also have some but it is getting empty and I need it!! Fritz
  6. I have a J style bass and am considering expanding the middle pickup's cavity with a chisel in order to install a P pickup. It is a Schecter, made in Korea (so a good quality instrument but maybe not with the same "prestige" value as a Fender). I'm not a wood worker so I'm not caring too much about how professional it looks under the pickguard, but with the pickguard on (and original pickup back in) it would be completely hidden anyway. My question is - if you were theoretically going to buy it, would that put you off buying it or affect how much you would spend on it? Personally I couldn't care less what it looked like under the pickguard but I want to know if other people would just so I know whether to consider potential resale value when deciding to go ahead with this. Cheers!

    Phil Jones X2C

Major GAS for this: https://www.bassgearmag.com/step-into-x2c-with-phil-jones-bass-dual-compressor-effects-loop/ All sorts of dual signal bi-amp goodness post-compressor...
  8. Just bought Chris' Sansamp RPM. Like everyone else, found him a dead easy guy to deal with and the Sansamp arrived safely via 24hr courier - can't say fairer than that!
  9. Yeah . Pretty much that . Need to swap ground and feed on one lipstick 👍
  10. SVT-CL, in the lead because it’s just right. Then there’s loads that do a great job, but I’d tip my hat to Markbass, prob the LM3, as IME, it’s super reliable and sounds great for every gig. Then, the Fender Rumble, as above.
  11. I've just picked up a shell pink Ashdown jazz from BassChat. It's awesome and has quickly made it to my No1 gigging bass. Paid quite a bit less than the £500 mark!
  12. Shame that shell pink is reserved for the 4’s.
  13. Up for sale an immaculate 2022 German made Teambuilt Warwick Thumb bolt-on 4, purchased new 5 months ago. One gig and home use: not a single scratch, ding, dong... immaculate condition. Nice grained ovangkol body and neck, wenge fingerboard, golden hardware from factory (those usually came with nickel or black hardware),MEC active Gold pickups and two band preamp. With these recent builds Warwick guys are back to slimmer necks and bronze frets. So it plays like butter and has THE Warwick signature punchy, growly low mids in spades. Weight is 4,1 Kgs. Comes with all the papers, tools, candies in the nice Warwick gig bag. 1600 GBP or 1850 EUR, shipped to you door with traceable Air Courier shipment. Only UK or EU countries.

  15. Just tell people you have a BSc. They won't know it means bronze swimming certificate rather than bachelor of science.
  16. I don't have a degree but I can rescue a mean rubber brick from the bottom of a swimming pool whilst wearing pyjama bottoms if needed.

  18. Continuing to thin the surplus pedals. This is the Ebs OctaBass Octave pedal. Boxed inc instructions and excellent condition (does have velcro underneath for the pedal board). Looking for £90 that includes delivery (U.K mainland only) or £85 collected. Heres my feedback page if you fancy seeing my past purchase/selling history https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/168931-feedback-for-chrisasp/?tab=comments#comment-1550553
