  1. Past hour
  2. Ian bought a Jazz body from me, nice easy transanction and as always a pleasure to deal with. Thanks Ian
  3. They would use this thread as defence - that even though learning was hard it seemingly brought you great joy later in life
  4. As usual, top service from Brian. I've acquired a lovely bass body to build upon 😍. Deal with absolute confidence 👌
  5. Tea for Two - Irving Caesar , Vincent Youmans
  6. Hélas, they are both dead now, but I still can prosecute their children ... isn't it.
  7. you got your song ready then?
  8. The opposite of the Holland track but I think I would prefer to have had this one on my CV. The complete bass performance (unknown - could have been one of 4 people - see the blurb on the website) of Joni Mitchells 2000 version of 'Both Sides Now'. Simple but perfect. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/both-sides-now-2000-joni-mitchell/
  9. Update, ..... Used theo Monaco at several gigs and rehearsals now. It's definitely the best cab I've owned. I'm an old git though and have a pretty rounded sound. Did a double header recently. I used my PA for both bands, and due to time constraints, the bass player for the first band used my rig ( Trace Elliot 1200 plus Monaco) . Uses a pic, unlike me, and plays more " modern" rock than my band. Usually uses a 500W Mark Bass Head plus a new 4 x 10 MarkBass cab. He sounded Fantastic! Best I've heard him. PHENOMINAL sound and plenty loud enough with the tiniest amount of PA support. I've done their sound before and this was the best ever! He contacted a friend of mine the next day to ask " What was that cab, where can I get one , and how much are they!" Put me to shame.... But certainly showed what this cab can do ....... So, short summary. Bloody Great!
  10. I found the Mojo to be very dark sounding. The Larger of the sparks can do drive well at a few different levels Really though some idea of a target tone type might help people offer suggestions, rather than it become a 'my favourite pedal' deal Also perhaps ask in the Effects forum?
  11. A few years ago i had a USA L2000 that had a rounded off truss rod nut. I think it was a 4mm allen key one. The Bass Gallery repaired it easily without removing the rod and i seem to remember they welded a new one on
  12. Newton Faulkner on Tuesday night. Solo guitarist blokey, very talented and also funny. Nova Twins last night. The sounds Georgia gets out of her bass are just ridiculous, they are massively talented.
  13. I have just bought a rather nice G&L CLF Research L1000 2018 and the truss rod nut appears to be missing. The person I bought it from was the original owner and, having just messaged him, he thinks it has always been missing and he has never adjusted the truss rod. I attach a picture and all appears there is the thread. It is a dual action truss rod and there is comment on the internet that there should be an integrated bullet that is welded on? Can any one help or point me in the right direction- thanks
  14. Can't wait, looks great!
  15. Sweet Leaf - Sabbath
  16. I think 1980 Rush would be shocked - possibly even horrified - that the band still existed in any form, 45 years on. I've mentioned I've followed them for a while. I distinctly remember reading an interview with Geddy - I think it would've been in 1984, the band's 10th anniversary and the release of Grace Under Pressure, their 10th studio album - discussing the future of the band. Of course, a band with a 10 year career was fairly unusual back then, and they already had a huge back catalogue & had been through several musical metamorphoses. Discussing what he thought the future held Geddy said Rush was "nearer to the end than the beginning", and that when it came it "would be a beautiful day". I wonder if he remembers giving that interview?
  17. Fantastic... Thank you for your help.

  19. The guy is bonkers and just seems angry at the world for not venerating him as a genius. But he can’t half play. It seems sad that he’s become embittered given he’s had a stellar career. It’s just that the bass pyrotechnics stuff isn’t as popular as it once was and he’s arguably been eclipsed by the next generation who are a little more tasteful. If you’re reading this Jeff, I’d go for a beer with you.
  20. sugar sugar - the Archies?
  21. For God's sake buy it Chris. Please. When I was a wee lad, the local shop in Epsom had one of the first Tune Bass Maniacs, and one of these in the window.
  22. because they are good at making pedals and bad at marketing!! Honestly, having tried the FI4 yesterday - I want one, it was amazing sounding. I've no idea which is lusher - for bass I would probably focus on how low latency they are, you can add reverb pedals after if needed!
  23. Golden Brown - The Stranglers
  24. Silver Machine - Hawkwind
  25. Artist. Artiste, whatever.. Anyone can call themselves whatever they like and everyone else can laugh at them as they see fit. If someone has made enough cold hard cash to laugh back then their status as an artist is considerably emboldened. This does, however, lead to a considerable number of artists without much artistic merit.
