yep horrible isn't it. I have a plan though

I've been focussed on lightweight for so long that I never really looked and as I carry PA most of my gigs I didn't need anymore weight But I have a couple of gigs where I don't carry PA so am happy to lug this

Folks, I'm wondering whether anyone in/around/near Sheffield has a Bass Vi they would lend me for some overdubs on our new studio album? Glen Campbell type vibs, nothing gnarly that might hurt it Obviously I'd live to own one but thats isn't an option just now financially I'm in Hope Valley (S33 6SB)

Sade performed 'Be Thankful For What You Got' live in Japan back in 1986. The track is originally by William DeVaughn, featuring Ronnie Baker on bass (also on my website). Sade - Be Thankful For What You Got | Paul S. Denman

I have a few of those. Frustrating... I once contacted the guitarist of the band Fates Warning for help. I don't remember his reply, but in essence it was "I don't feel like it". The drummer never replied.

Is this the same bass you're now selling in the classifieds with a different pickguard? Oh I've just seen it's a spare white pickguard on the same bass.

Our duo played at a birthday party last night, augmented with a drummer we often work with. Venue was a large Memorial Hall, with a high stage and about 80 guests attending. There was a Martin house PA which annoyingly we weren’t allowed to use, so carried all our stuff in and then up onto the stage. Room didn’t sound as bad as it looked it would, so no probs there. Used my Rumble 500 combo and P-Lyte, my go to set up these days. The booker wanted 3x30 mins sets of dance stuff so we obliged and had a full dance floor for most of the time. 3 sets is weird for pacing the evening, along with fitting in the buffet and announcements etc - rock n roll or what? 😆 Still, we managed it and just got packed down by the 11.30pm curfew. A strange gig, but very well paid and happy punters so all good.

My exact thoughts too but didn't want to mention it and cause more problems for him. Most of our gigs run on a little but that's usually because we just put too many songs in the set list but we all enjoy it. I forgot to mention the Bingo and raffles do tend to run over and our 2nd set invariably starts late. Depending on how nice the club is to us we will either just do the full set or we cut it short and finish dead on time we initially stated. Dave

Blimey, it sounds like your guitarist is in the wrong band! If he doesn’t appreciate that most weddings rarely run to schedule then I’d suggest he finds another band rather than holding you all to ransom over a final song.

It is smaller, which was your complaint! Although having used some of the MVave stuff, I doubt it would sound as good as the ME-90B

There's a link with why Witon's on the Joni tracks isn't there (other than shear class)...wasn't Max Bennett one of her affairs?

I have tried them all. Best solution, in my view, and it's not close, is the JamOrigin MIDI Guitar / MIDI Bass Solution WITH a hexaphonic pick up (it works well without, too, but if you are doing chordal work the hexaphonic makes an enormous difference). If you want something to be used without a laptop, a GK-3B + GR-20 will do. All that said, I do not think it is entirely true to say that pitch to midi is a complete non-starter. But you do have to play differently – for example, if you are playing a bass synth line with a fast attack sound, then you'd be advised to play that one (or even two, if possible) octaves up. it's a world of trade offs. It can work, but you need to be aware that it is a different animal. Here is an example from a few months ago, with the much worse MIDI Guitar 2.
-
I would say contrary to above that if you want something to put into a daw, there is no harm playing it on the bass and then doing the pitch to note conversion afterwards, because latency then doesn't matter, and you can manually tidy it up afterwards as there are no real time constraints. There is no harm using midi bass live if the latency isn't an issue ie, you are not playing fast lines or you can preplay which is fairly easy, or you are using slow synth sounds such as pads for sweeping notes. For any kind of fast stuff, it doesn't really make any sense as it is far easier to use a keyboard.

Franz Ferdinand do what I suspect is put fabric covers over road cases. Sorry that they don't work for you, but please don't try and tell those of us who are doing it that it can't be done. It's possible to create excellent stage sound using a variety of approaches. Those 'farty' frfr cabs are the same ones that do mains pa duties on thousands of stages across the world.

Final sale of my five stringers. Super bass, comfy to play and looks a stunner. 35" scale approx 4kilos 17.5mm spacing at bridge Fitted with straplocks Comes with Modulus case as shown Fingerboard fairly flat. Built in 1995 Notes:- Retro fitted with Bartolini passive soap bar pickup by Guitar Mania of Poole. The original EMG pickup and complete pre amp and wiring loom are also supplied to return the bass to factory specs. There is a 1mm deep chip in the outer neck finishing layer (which I didn't notice until after two years of ownership). See photos, it's at the first fret and is not felt whilst playing. I've had this bass for twelve years and the neck is as stable as you would expect it to be. Collection from Bournemouth or meet up within reasonable distance is preferable. No sound clips, sorry. Let me know if you need any further info. Cheers, Graham
