Cost of the software is no issue. Learning how to use it is the hard part. Where going active is concerned there are full DSP plate amps at reasonable cost. Even if you go DIY with the amp the cost of DSP to go with it is about 10% of what it was 20 years ago. Not that I'd recommend trying to design your own for a one off build, the time it takes to acquire the skills required ranges from months for simple designs to years for complex designs. But there's no shortage of plans available from those who have done the work.

Really high quality synth sounds, the kind I'm looking for too. Will see how the MXR handles them. A crazy thought, but is there any way a lightweight, affordable system could use light, electronics or EMR to be a superfast way of pitch detection based on finger placement, touch etc that could be input into the synth engine?

The colour match is pretty good. The ASDA cable is actually a better match to the amp than the speaker cabinet badge. It's quite hard to make out but I think it says 1.25mm2

We just use one wireless microphone but we also have a wireless sax, wireless bass, wireless X-Air mixer and Wireless IEMs, and haven't had any drop outs or anything. We found that we had a problem with the new Nux Sax wireless, the range wasn't great (certainly compared to the mic), so I now attach an XLR and hang the sax RX up near the front of the stage and the range is hugely better (ie, over double), so maybe that was inteference of them being plugged straight in the desk a few cms from each other - all the other wireless things are connected elsewhere.

If it's only a temporary injury, you could do worse than a Squier Bronco or Gretsch Junior Jet 2nd hand.

Just watching it from my feed and wanted to know about this guy and basschat is up there in the search results. His tone and playing is sublime. It takes some balls to do this as well, a whole orchestra behind him, wow. The music flows into some really cool sounds with beautiful chords and rhythms.

I believe Subdecay contacted them as most of his new pedals (Noise Theory, Pixelwave, M3000) are basically software in a stomp. So I’m hoping they could be ported and be the first they add to an “app store” style system.

I use them on both of my 5 string Washburn XB925 basses (fretted, and fretless). The fretted bass came with a set, which I liked so much that I got a set for the matching fretless. I liked the grip and bite of them being round wounds, but slightly smoother because they have been compressed. A nicely tight string, but not so much tension that I have to fight with them. On the fretted, there is a good low B, solid sound across all of the strings, and a lot of resonance transmitted through the neck. The fretted seems to have thinner gauge strings on it, and I am still getting used to the instrument following a recent neck adjustment to give me some mwah. They were difficult to find - my fretless set were ordered from Holland, I think. And the set already on the fretted came with the bass, from Hungary. I am not a connoisseur of bass strings. I have never tried the main brands. So, I can't really compare them to other brands. However, I like the SIT strings that I have. Ooh, hang on! One of my Washburn XB500s has a D'Addario low B (0.130", I think). I prefer the SIT low B to the D'Addario.

She tried the wireless out at a gig on Sat and worked great. @Woodinblack Do you guys just use the one wireless? Just wondering if there will be interference / drop-outs if more than one of us get the same wireless set up? I note that, in theory, both the Joyo and Lekato have 4 channels. Amusingly her Lekato wireless via Ali Express arrived in time for the gig, but her AKG D7S from Thomann didn't!

I can't comment on the Squire, but the Vinterra's intonation is good. It was nicely set up and smooth playing out of the box. The only thing I've noticed is a sporadic buzzing on upper frets of the high E string. I don't think it's a string buzz. Continuing to track it down. The Bass VI is a fun instrument.

Ooohhh liking some of that. I can hear similarities to Goth thing but it reminds me of some of the more light hearted bands from early 80's but just can't put my finger on who it i've got in my head. Sounds really good tho and i'd enjoy your gig. Thanks for sharing with us. Dave

I have a rotator cuff injury and cannot currently play my 34" basses. I have a U Bass (23") and it helps, but I am now looking at a 30". Not only that, but I am on a budget. I could probably stretch to £250, so what is worth getting? A bit of info, the Kala U Bass Solid Body is not as good as any cheap bass I have bought in the last 10 years, so I have been looking at Ibanez, Hartwood, Harley Benton and looking for advice.

I admire you faith in the producer's intent in finding the objectively-best players. I'm confident none of these players will be mentioned. The criteria will almost certainly be 'World's Greatest Basslines (your Mum would recognise)'
