  2. Found it! Just an FYI that, reading through it now there are some mistakes in there...I might get around to re-doing it sometime soon (I'm starting to put an online transcription vault together) Hiromi Uehara XYZ.pdf
  3. I can bring my Super Twin 🙂
  4. It does indeed. It's 8.2lb 👌🏻
  5. Nice to hear a What You’re Doing and La Villa Strangiato mashup. GLWTS and have a free bump.
  6. Over the years I have installed and removed many shims and the main advice I can give is to start small, as @Andyjr1515 says. I now use the matal shi,s from Warman https://www.warmanguitars.co.uk/product/set-of-4-brass-guitar-neck-shims-3-different-thicknesses-in-one-set/ Easy to fit and easy to change to a different thickness. The main thing to remember is that it takes several changes at each stage to get things just right.
  7. Its 48 hours - the button shows the countdown timer before you can press it
  8. Sean, just to clarify, what do you mean by the Euro '79 JJ? There was a limited release of Euro 1979 LE back in 2019, but that has DiMarzio PJ pickups (I own one of these) Is the NS-2JA-R that you mean, the Euro bolt on limited edition (83 pcs each of the three high-gloss finishes: solid white, solid black and natural gloss) that Spector did back in 2008? "Spector's NS-2JA-R is a limited edition reissue of the company's NS-2JA from 1983 and features the original Spector NS curved body design and NS-2JA deep-inset neck pocket design. Other features include a maple body, chrome hardware (Leo Quan bridge, Schaller tuners) and EMG active J pickups with EMG BT active tone controls." On the original question: I have a Euro 5 Classic JJ and it sound different to my Atelier Z 5 string "superjazz" ('60 spacing). Both pickups on the Classic are closer to the bridge and the overall sound of it to my earsis closer to my 5 string PJ /DC Spectors than to the jazz, it still has the Specor DNA rather than the jazz.
  9. Something from Branford Marsalis's 1987 recording, 'Random Abstract', this is the complete Delbert Felixstowe bass part for the Monk tune, 'Cresecule With Nellie'. Interesting structure and very 'Monkish' phrasing. Just three times through the melody but some challenges in there, nevertheless. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/crepuscule-with-nellie-branford-marsalis/
  10. I thought about bootsy and Stanley before posting. Both incredible and I have music from both, but neither put the bass front and centre quite as strikingly as Jaco (although bootsy’s image might give a different narrative). While he wasn’t the first virtuoso, Jaco was the Hendrix of the bass world in the mid to late 70s.
  11. I've been slacking again due to the venue we've just opened. I'll do a thread on that when I get time. On Saturday night we played the Lexington in Islington. Coming from Stoke we had to pickup a guitar that was left behind a few weeks before in Chessington. A total of 6 hours crammed into Vantanamo (named because I don't fit into the van, and so have to spend hours in twisted positions) had me pretty grumpy. Load in up a huge fire escape almost finished me off. The headliner was old friends Abdoujaparov, and I managed to relax while they sound-checked. The venue is very cool, classic old London venue. The set went very well, we won over some new fans, and I left the stage soaked in sweat. Ace gig! Then I had the pleasure of sampling the bourbon bar downstairs. Four Roses and Buffalo Trace were delicious. Here's a photo The next morning we were up bright and early to travel up to Katie Fitzgerald's in Stourbridge where we played a matinee show. Load-in time was 1pm. We arrived at 1:10pm. The owner who actually lives there let us in at 1:30pm 🤷‍♂️ The place was full of our fans singing at the top of their lungs and we loved every second of it.
  12. Short People - Randy Newman
  13. WOW that's some price for one of these amps. 1/3rd of the retail price. I looked at these before getting my Handbox WB-100 but the new price was way out of my range. So so envious of whoever buys this. Amp tubiness in abundance. GLWTS Dave
  14. Epiphone thunderbird classic pro, neck through with the Gibson USA TB pickups, nice and light at 8.5lbs. Lovely low action with a 38mm nut width it plays very nicely, a few minor marks here and there but still a really smart looking bass. Hard case with a key. The best of the Epi 'birds now discontinued. Pick up from Nr Plymouth, or courier at cost I guess around £20. Happy to drive an hour or so for a meet up if it's helpful.

  15. These Graft basses are so good both aesthetically and from a playing POV. Most distressingly I am probably going to have to find a new home for mine pretty soon as my fingers are getting no better.
  16. Morning all How long is it now before l can bump my for sale post? Thanks. Mike
  17. Bump it down to £800 if anyone is willing to take this beast on.
  18. I think you have lost me Tim. Sure there are plenty of people doing very well in this economy. There are some very wealthy people without a doubt. Broadly speaking though the general impression I get is that there is a high degree of uncertainty and even people on decent wages are cutting back a little. For those on the margins - the precariate, the rapid increase in accommodation costs have made life much much harder. This is Bristol in 2025 where my property has gone up by 150% in 20 years: I am sure someone will tell me how rich I am. It’s my home. It makes no difference to me if it’s worth £50K* or £850K!!! The only people benefiting from this are banks, governments and increasingly hedge funds. The rest of us just want somewhere to live. Again yeah I go on a bit, but this is the reality of the way the financial system is structured. The relationship between debt, liquidity, yield curve control/quantative easing, deficit, bond markets and inflation are just dull words. That video is what they lead to and it’s going to happen again. https://www.bristol.gov.uk/residents/people-and-communities/vehicle-dwellers-in-bristol  Edit: * This is not true. It makes a big difference. If it was £50K my stamp duty, interest payments to the bank over 15 years and undoubtedly soon whatever extra taxes I will be scalped for being a beneficiary/victim of money pumping.

  20. I used to have a 1516 for 20 years. It was never a favorite cab, my Mesa 215 was my primary cab, and I would add the 1516 to it for bigger shows. Mine was the same era as yours from the late 80s: single 1/4" input and 3-way toggle for the horn (hi/off/low). Its a 4 ohm cab. It was never a 'master of anything' as the single EV15 didn't like alot of bottom end exertion, and despite the rating, those EVs can really only handle 200w and then fart out. I destroyed the 15 twice. I would leave the cab alone, don't cut it up. Like already mentioned, people do search for them, so just sell it.
  21. As did Stanley Clarke... Bootsy started in the 60s, as did Larry Graham...
  22. Plenty of folks here who started out on treble.
  23. I was just messing, as I really can’t take this seriously 😊
  24. Anderton's? They still have the "Black Friday" sale label, but yep, the price of the HNB3 has gone back uo from £399 to £499.
