  2. 5-string set reversible, £60?
  3. That said, owning this means that I'm easy to convince about Aristides instruments...
  4. A .50 G should fit fine. I've done the same this week actually, going back to a .70 D and a .50 G (Fender flats). I'm working on using open strings to help with transitions and the thinner strings I had on weren't cutting it. Both strings fit fine on my Fender P.
  5. Careful curation? hah - not in our band, the sax gets everywhere!
  6. Those were the days! Such an exciting time for bass players.
  7. I tried to find the Spider-Man paint job, but failed, so perhaps I either imagined it or just mis-remembered, but yeah, that TRON paint job was pretty nice I thought. Mark
  8. I love the Tron model @LowB_FTW! 😍
  9. The Schallers I fitted were massive plates, you must have a different model number, how much flooding gear are you asking for them? and do you have any pics. I might be interested.....
  10. Sorry, I didn't pick up on you being sent a 2nd replacement for free. Fair enough!
  11. Thanks for the reminder; I haven't listened to this album in over 40 years. It's even better than I remember!
  12. Really underrated basses these. GLWTS.
  13. What sort of build time?
  14. I've been searching for an answer on an FRFR unit. All I'm seeing is people jacking in HX Stomp type boards...my question is whether an FRFR unit will work with a rudimentary distortion pedal (in my case a Fender Pugilist).
  15. All credit to you guys for taking on a Burns Supper night. Not an easy task unless you're a typical Scottish Ceilidh band. Well done. Dave
  16. 2006 Squire Vintage Modified Precision Bass in Olympic White for sale - with some modifications to dress it up like a 70s P bass. I will include the Thomann gig bag with the sale. I have always wanted a 70s P, but as a mainly 5 string player I knew I wouldn't use it that much so I didn't want to commit too much cash to one. So, I found a Squire VM P bass in Olympic white which had a few dings online and then proceeded to create my own. Personally I think it looks great and it saddens me to sell it but I could do with a little cash injection right now. So, the main change is the headstock. The squire details were removed and sanded flat, some discolouration added to age the wood, a 70s decal added and then a vintage amber Nitro lacquer from NorthWest Guitars. I have flatted it back and flatted off the sheen from the back of the neck so it's nice and smooth. Aged string retainer and neck F plate was added (I always intended to add aged tuners and bridge but never got round to it.) Body - it had a few dinks here and there which have been added to (nothing major to be honest) and the bass still has the Seymore Duncan designed pickups, original bridge and tuners. The olympic white has aged and yellowed really nicely and the rosewood board is nice and dark. I know this won't be to everyone's taste but if you fancy a 70s P and don't fancy the price of one, this could be for you! I have included a picture of the original squire serial number for information. Not sure what else to add about the bass. It plays great and sounds just like a P should. The previous owner changed the wiring to cloth wiring and added an orange drop cap to the tone control. Any trial is welcome and I have packaging to post. Will look at quotes and happy to look at various options.

  18. Have you tried fitting your D string to the G position and seeing if that fits? If it does you have your answer re thicker gauge strings. Mark

  20. From the 2016 Richard Bona Mandekan Cubnao/Heritage album, the tune is 'Santa Clara Con Montuno'. Unreadable because of the ghost notes - it's too much. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/santa-clara-con-montuno-richard-bona/
  21. When we took the gig it didn't register that it was Burns night. I arrived first to find a very loud piper in full flow on the stage! We therefore had a slight delay getting the kit in. The plate of haggis, tatties and neeps with whisky sauce while we were setting up was very nice though. We are not a Scottish music band at all, but we did play a few songs by Scottish artists or fabricated tenuous Scottish links to the songs we did. I don't think we upset too many of the folk in tartan, although one guy did ask if we could play properly. When we said no he just said "Ah, crack on then" 😂 The place was quite busy and very hot when we started around 4pm. It was a bit of a relief that it thinned out slightly as it went on. We were all starting to flag a little by the time we finished though. The trusty Stingish bass and Rumble were in action again. I also gave my Solovair boots a run out for a change - not quite as comfy as my DMs yet though, so I'm glad to be at home in my slippers now 😜
  22. *sigh* Memories ☺️
  23. Today
  24. One of the newer Classic Vibes. Upgraded pups/loom, bridge and black plate. Not weighed it but I’d say it’s less than 9lb. I can leave the straplocks on or put the original pins back on. I do not have any of the other original parts. In pretty good condition, I’ve tried to photograph any damage I can see. The back of the neck is lightly sanded, which improves it in my opinion. It’s a really nice bass in one of my favourite colour schemes but something has cropped up that I’ve got my eye on. Collection from Blackburn Lancs is preferable but buyer can arrange a courier at their expense and I’ll add a beat up Gator case that is functional for shipping and gigging but has some issues.
