It is a workable solution, and the bass can be used in normal situations. Things like the Yamaha silent bass, or the traveller bass https://www.bandtmusic.co.uk/guitars/bass-guitars/travel-basses/traveler-guitar-ultra-light-bass-maple.html are sufficiently odd looking that they might detract from your performance. I used to be in a band with the best keyboard player of all time. He's approach was The right hand is for playing, the left hand is for smoking and drinking. In originals we'd never have to tell him the chords or structure. He just play the right thing and his parts would dance around wherever all the other instruments or voices were. Another regular aspect was Doesn't sound like this one needs keys lads!

Aha I did see that! Thanks. Any experiences of whether that is a satisfactory experience? Or is a small body a better solution?! I think I can probably test the modern Steinberger and Cort Space 4 quite easily in London to compare.

If you haven't already found out, most cricket bat style headless bases have a hinged metal flap that mimics the lower horn when you use them seated. David

Like @ian61 said. Problem solved. The lower you go, the further the two instruments/notes must be. Frequency difference gets very small the lower you go. Therefore you should not get closer to the keys than a fifth, but an octave sure is safe. The same applies to chords played ɓy us bassists. You can make simple calculations by subtracting A4 from F4 (a major third), and then A1 from F1 (try this with your bass!). The difference in the lower end starts to resemble flanger, and the result is really mushy. Besides if there are any issues with tunings of different instruments, the result will be even worse. https://www.vibrationdata.com/piano.htm This is the musical theory reason why only one bassist is needed, and keyboardist should stay far enough. For the same reason there's theoretically space up there for two g-word players, but in practise...

Rob's playing on that track is what in the world of fashion would be called "bang on trend", i.e he's epitomising everything that is considered necessary, appropriate and desirable according to current tastes in bass guitar. And of course, he's using an old P Bass with flats. Nothing wrong with any of that, and he does it all so well. Surely one of the best bass players in Britain nowadays. I think he's great. -
How did you get involved in that one, it looks a lot of fun (despite lack of dancers)? It would be a good one for us to do if they have a few bands on during the day.

Great cabs! Bad timing, bought one just last month. These are super cabs suited for all genres, but I particularly like these for Motown & reggae as they’re deep but have great definition. -
Hi, I have read a lot of threads on travel basses but I have a slight twist! I am a very average bassist but soon will be spending part of the year first in a campervan and then a boat! Airplanes are not a problem. My main bass is a great Frankenstein put together by Beedster of this parish. It’s a fender mashup and is in a decent massive square fender case! Definitely too big for easy storage in a limited storage setup! Anyway have looked at the stick options but I will be sitting down to practice obviously and as long as it all fits in a small gig bag it should be fine! I think headless is the way forward. So there is hohner jack cheap on ebay, new cort space 4 for maybe £600, all the stick options new Steinberger, second hand Hohner thing, Yamaha something. Or more expensive?!! Which is crazy. Ibanez and the ultimate which is Boden 4!! Looks great and is perfect weight and ergonomics!! Actually there is Marcus Miller M6. Having said all that I just think stick ones not so good for sitting down and not wearing a strap? Need small and light though! I’m abroad at the moment so haven’t tried any! Need to go to a shop in uk and try modern Steinberger and Cort? I hate sensible options!!

Split the keyboard, with the bottom half panned hard left, the upper hard right (well, maybe not as hard as that, but more than 50% at least...). Pan the bass to the middle, obviously. Ideally, of course, this 'sharing' of the frequencies should be done when the song is composed and arranged, so as to have a better sonic field for each instrument, although there's no absolute rules for this, either. Some overlap can be musically valid, it depends on the song. Kudos for the drumming in the video; more interesting than many 'young' bands these daze. All in all, Good Stuff, worth getting right 'live'. Hope this helps.

Here's the story... I was moving house a number of years ago and didn't have a proper case for a much treasured (and fragile!) 1960's Hofner Senator Bass. At the time I couldn't get hold of a suitable off-the-shelf case, and so I had a custom flight case built for it. And it has literally been used once - for a single house move. But I've never used the bass live or even taken out of the house since then. So this flight case has set in my spare room, kept just in case I needed to transport the Hofner Senator Bass again. Then very recently....I discovered that Hofner now make a suitable hard case (for the Hofner President re-issue)...and so I've got one of those to replace the flight case, and this flight case is now definitely surplus to requirements. From memory, I think it cost me not far off £200 to get made, but I just need the space it's taking up, so I'm happy to take £50.00 for it. As you'll see from the photos it's basically in 'as-new' condition, Hexaboard with proper professional grade fittings throughout. Dimensions: External Dimensions: 122cm x 47cm x 21.5cm Internal Dimensions: 115.5cm x 41cm x 15cm So...this could be a very handy case for all sorts of things! I can ship it - but that would probably be quite pricey. Collection would be better I would think. Thanks! -
Used, in great condition except the zip has a tendency to do what Pedaltrain gigbag zips have a tendency to do. Velcro already on, plus a tiny bit underneath where I had a power isolator. Price is posted to mainland UK. Please forgive the upside down pics 😆-

Yeah the case is a definite doozy. its seems customised completely for this rig.... everything fits perfectly and it looks as though it was made for it. Truly an enigma. Wrapped in a conundrum. Ive been enjoying it immensely this afternoon...glorious. I would venture it sounds better than my SMX 300 era head and certainly is up with my Series 6 AH500X. I'm gonna continue my search for info and thank you for your help so far
