Markbass Ninja Cab - Speaker Replacement?
Dan Dare replied to SamPlaysBass's topic in Repairs and Technical
I read somewhere that MB drivers were/are made by B&C (which would be plausible as B&C is an Italian company). Worth approaching them for advice? -

I picked up a Roland RD-700nx used from Andertons earlier this year, in mint condition for a mere £599 with stand and pedals etc. Yes it is a little bulky/heavy, but ticks all the other boxes
-
You always need a back up tho and then a back up for the back up. I'd keep the 3 of them. 🤩 Dave

Interestingly, we played a J Squier in Dawson's which we felt didn't feel nice, same model (I think also in Wunjo) played brilliantly. And I'm not talking set up either but the neck. I think at this price they all play slightly differently.
-
Only £10 more expensive in Wunjo so price wasn't the factor.

So your friend didn't buy the one in Wunjo's then. Do you mind me asking if they were priced the same?

Quick check on the neck stamps tonight. Really loving the bass so far, has a really nice ‘eveness’ tone wise string to string. Nice narrow neck wise with a nice chunkiness front to back

Yes. Quite. 2022 post so presumably post pandemic. Venues were trying anything to recoup losses back then.

Colin Hay at Union Chapel Islington. Popped into Hope and Anchor pub before the gig which for anyone who doesn't know is just a short walk from the chapel. I'd not been in there or to Union Chapel before and both were well worth the visit. Book pre show meal which also allowed entrance to the venue 30 minutes before the official opening time. I'd recommend this if available as we got to pick our seats before the rush and the pre show meal ticket is free with no obligation to buy a meal. Support from Glen Phillips (Toad the Wet Sprocket) who I'd never heard of was excellent. Overheard a conversation behind me "Colin supported us for 39 shows and we came out and watched his whole set every night" Colin Hay arrives on stage, I've been a big MAW fan but was the first time I'd seen him live.......he was just superb. Back to Hope and Anchor for a beer and a little internet search revealed matey behind me was Ed Robertson (Barenaked Ladies)...he's got good taste.

What am I doing wrong with EMG pickup?
paul_5 replied to Brian18242's topic in Repairs and Technical
Jack sockets for active basses need 3 connections - tip, ring and sleeve. This means that whenever a Jack lead is plugged in it forms a connection between the ring and sleeve which completes the power supply circuit - typically the ground connection, leaving the tip to carry the signal. This has the advantage of not drawing power from the battery whenever you unplug your lead. If the original socket only has 2 lugs then you’re going to need an awful lot of batteries… -

What am I doing wrong with EMG pickup?
Brian18242 replied to Brian18242's topic in Repairs and Technical
As the previous jack was for passive electronics, should I be considered about wiring an active pickup to this? -
I seem to remember the late, great John Wetton (King Crimson, Asia, Roxy Music, Uriah Heep, U.K ect) used to live in Farnham back in the late '80's/ early '90's. There's always been loads of musos in that neck of the woods. I expect a lot of Guitar Village's customers are more likely to be investment bankers, though, also in abundance in that part of Surrey.

For the Jack, I would rewire to the old Jack if possible -
What can I say but agree, they sound great. A bass player whom I depped for a few times, whilst she zig-zagged around the world backpacking, has decided she is not playing bass anymore and contacted me to see if I wanted her bass rig. YEAH!!!!! Now have her Reidmar 250 and another BBII cab which are in as new condition. I remember using that amp at the band's rehearsal band and was really impressed with the quality of the sound, so I'm really glad to have it.
