  1. Past hour
  2. Ahhhh, NYE...generally ours have been positive, even better when the DJ says 'Can you finish and be off for 11:45 so I can do the countdown?' Of courrrrrse we can... 🙂 We did have one disaster, thanks to a promoter who we didn't use again (amazingly, that can be a two-way street), when we turned up to a £25 ticketed do at a Working Man's/Liberal/Con/Labour Club*, and by 'we' I mean our guitar/acoustic trio doing all sorts of stuff, to be greeted by the landlord/sec with a cheery 'Where's the f*cking rest of you?'. After explaining I was considered medically complete he informed us, with furious gesticulations at the promo signage, that he'd booked a 7-piece soul band, and the sellout crowd was expecting that. Attempts were made by both parties to contact said promoter (we hadn't had any contact directly with the landlord, so it was immediately obvious who was to blame) but unsurprisingly he wasn't answering his phone. We set up and gave it a go for the first set, but it became immediately obvious that by the time drink had flowed in any greater quantity we'd be needing chicken wire a la Blues Brothers, and the DJ saved much further pain, embarrassment and possibly violence by saying 'Pack up and get out, lads; I'll take it from here.' We were packed down and legged it by about ten. When we finally got hold of the promoter days later he was so embarassed (presumably after a biblical bollocking by the landlord) that he actually paid us in full. One consolation on the night (other than the early finish) was the thought that somewhere a small pub was, presumably delightedly, squeezing in a 7-piece soul band they hadn't booked... * I forget the exact flavour, but uniquely it was less than a mile from my house at the time...swings, roundabouts...
  3. They make an excellent backup bass, and they sound fantastic. Very hifi, clean sound. Easily small enough to keep in the boot of your car when you need a backup or quickly need a bass. I've owned two, a 5 and a 4. I've never sold one because I didn't like it, instead usually because students always want to buy them off me! Would have another one in an instant. In fact, once my Walnut-Graphite Jazz is complete, I'll be looking for another one. My last Space 4 was a demon with one of the fastest necks I've encountered this side of a Status.
  4. Bela Lugosi’s Dead - Bauhaus / Dead Cross
  5. Don’t want to be a prophet of doom, but just a warning that there are extensive engineering works on the local railway lines on the 9th. It will be replacement buses running on the Reading - Waterloo and Guildford-Reading/Ascot lines. So plan extra time if you’re coming that way, or see if you can arrange a lift. ☹️ https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/engineering-works/staines-reading-woking-and-ascot-guildford-20251109/
  6. It seems to say that USB is purely for audio in/out.
  7. It’s the older one with the recessed knobs. It really is a killer unit but the size can be off putting. I run it off a Fender LvL 8 power brick at 12v 500ma and it works perfectly. I have a valve preamp on my board and some additional Lightening Boy Audio 2020s transformers hidden underneath my board and I’m not really needing the tube stage form the MB comp as I have that tube character already but it’s nice to swap it on and off the board when I feel like it. Aww I might pop it back on this evening now I’m talking about it. I knew this would happen 🤣
  8. In fairness to Peavey, I think they had good intentions and were perhaps caughtup in the programme, but then commercial reality hit. Their ex-employees weren't treated fairly though.
  9. All Dead All Dead - Queen
  10. I think this this range is 60’s (even though I put the PV 74’s into a 60’s spacing). I believe there is a 70’s version from HB with the blocks and binding but again BTW Gregor is into the 60’s thing.
  11. Kev you are welcome to borrow my pair of QSCK10's and a single FBT15" sub to trial at a gig/rehearsal. I'm not saying that to indicate that is what you should buy but it might give you some further insight into single sub/10" top systems. Just give me a shout.
  12. Another one from the 'Song Of Seven' album. Easy in the main but a pretty little fretless solo overdubbed that makes it sweet. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/take-your-time-jon-anderson/

  14. Now we want a comment about fendersquires.
  15. That’s groovy !
  16. Someone please buy this bass. You’re getting a hell of a lot for not much money.
  17. Today
  18. Now You're In Heaven - Julian Lennon
  19. 60s or 70s spacing?
  20. Knocking on Heaven's Door - Dylan
  21. Sale only at the minute ideally but could pontentially consider trades (via pm obviously)
  22. The neck on the MV series HB range have a nice profile. More D than C so feels more substantial in the hand than a Flea sig (I have both). I put some Fender PV ‘74 pick up’s in my HB and a new loom and it sounds fantastic. (As an aside I’ve never used a 70’s wind jazz set before and they really do add some muscle and add in a more forward midrange. Very impressed by them!) but I think Gregor favours the 60’s wind. Kloppman pick up sets, especially the one Gregor likes, are about £300 per set so this will likely be a great sounding bass but as a one off series it’s probably gonna be spendy for the brand but with good quality hardware. The neck looks like a nice piece of wood and hopefully they’re monitoring the weight to keep them under 4kg.
  23. I Hear You Knocking - Dave Edmunds
