I was there on Saturday night, he was playing what looked like a 68-73 sunburst P bass with both mutes on

A great example of what-could-have-been bass-wise is the Brendan Lynch mix of Champagne Supernova. It's a lovely part.

Not heard that before. I prefer it to the album version, which I wasn’t really a massive fan of. I think this version has an airiness that suits the song better. Liam’s vocal sounds really good.

Thanks for posting…

seems to be the modern way, bass is there to add bottom end, nobody knows what a bass does until it's not there

Bass instrument in low register note playing shocker :)

There is room for many styles of bass playing.

I do a lot of root note stuff for one cover band and they love it. So does their audience.

I also play in bands where the bass lines are a marathon. Always serve the song.

Yes. Many people were suggesting there were clauses written into contracts in the event of Liam and Noel having a bust up before the tour was done.

There probably are because unforeseen cancellation clauses go on every tour contract, but Live Nation aren't just going to front up nine figure sums if they didn't think it wasn't going to happen. People were talking like both sides haven't been reliably fronting arenas for a decade since the bust-up days.

They're staying in seperate hotels miles apart...

A breakup would hardly be 'unforseen'.

this^ we have just had a request for I Wanna Be Sedated for one of our gigs, they don't come any simpler than that but it's a great song and good fun to play IMO.

It's one those where you think why is this simple song so good, I remember a quote for the Gay Moore when talking about great guitar riffs, "A great guitar riff is one that is so simple you think to yourself why didn't I think of that?"
