tour manager

Massager of ego, provider of possibly illicit wares. ;)
Maybe not so much the band tour manager, that’ll be the proper logistics guy.

So some leaked pics of the rehearsal room are doing the rounds on social media.  Looks like the bass rig is a pair of Fender Super Bassman's with matching 8x10's.  No sign of the basses being used yet

Friedn of mine is considering paying £450 for a Ticketmaster-approved resale ticket.

World gone mad.

Anyone there today, I hope you have an amazing time and that you can see over the sea of smartphones proving these people were there.

We need more bands like this to show the young kids that playing instruments is 'cool'

You're certainly not going to show the kids "this is what you can sound like if you're any good," that's for sure.

Absolutely!

All my mates who worked in music shops loved Oasis first time around. They said that suddenly a new generation of 13 year old kids started coming into the shop, wanting to buy a guitar and to learn to play Rock 'n' Roll Star and Cigarettes and Alcohol...

Honestly, I don't think it really matters how 'good' they are, they were playing guitars on huge stages, TV shows etc... Something for people to aspire to, it really does help sell gear. Can you imagine how many Epiphones, Gibsons and various amp brands Noel Gallagher has helped sell over the years.

Definitely, no maybes about it (see what I did there?)

Whilst they may not be the most accomplished musicians they have a cool factor, if that inspires kids to start picking up guitars etc only a good thing imo.

Successful bands are popular because many people think they are good at what they do. If enough people think you are good then you are. QED

As for Oasis, their songs are very popular with audiences and are easy to learn, so I love them.

The irony that they are inspiring youngsters to pick up guitars, basses and drums and play live...... Just as most of the physical shops selling them have shut down.

It’s all relative of course, but I don’t see Oasis inspiring that many kids nowadays. It’s going to be filled with middle aged men like me.

How many kids can afford those ticket prices?

Unless they blew all their instrument savings on a ticket? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I suspect the audience will be mostly middle aged men reliving their youth.

From my experience as a music lecturer. It’s the events this weekend in Birmingham that most young musicians will be watching. Oasis don't seem to figure highly in my students’ musical influences.

Oasis were always more of an overarching cultural thing than a music thing anyway. There were many bands in that Britpop era that were far, far better than them, but they were the ones that got the column inches, the NME/Melody Maker covers and the tabloid scandals. Basically Oasis - the brand - was the big seller, and the music was only a smallish part of all that. The whole cocky swagger of the Gallaghers was a reflection of the era of Cool Britannia and the national zeitgeist at the time.

The sad thing is, if you put together a supertour featuring a bunch of other contemporary British pop-rock bands who musically left Oasis in the dust (Radiohead, Blur, Pulp, Suede, Supergrass, the Manics, The Verve, Mansun, Ocean Colour Scene, Sleeper, Feeder, Elastica, etc) they probably wouldn't sell as many tickets as Oasis have.

One small mercy. At least there's no talk of a new album.

The rumours are that a new album is indeed on the cards!
