You can't beat a bit of ACG holly at Christmas

I'm over the moon with the pictures Alan from ACG Guitars sent me today. I'm off to Moffat tomorrow to collect my salace.

The specs are:

Black Walnut body with American Holly top and 4 mm Bloodwood accent.
5 piece Wenge/Bloodwood neck with Acrylic Impregnated Birdseye finger board. ACG RFB and PB pickups in a single Bloodwood ramp. East U-Retro pre-amp.
The pickups are a P and an MM housed in the one wooden casing, electronics are a John East U-Retro Deluxe. Spacing is 15mm and scale length 34".

The coin is a sovereign, set into the body. It was My late Mum's and I wanted to have it somewhere I would remember her regularly. The whole bass is spec'd with her in mind.

I'm afraid I was expecting much the same as dudewheresmybass but I've never seen such a pretty headless bass! Love the sovereign addition too!

The Holly top looks like molten silk!

I've been playing it a lot today. I've owned many basses, too many perhaps if that's possible. This is I think the nicest playing bass of them all.

That's awesome to hear mate :)
How'd you like the pickup combo and the U-Retro? Did you go for the passive switching one?

The gap between the pickups places them close to the traditional. The electronics are active only as I've not wanted switches on the body preferring a cleaner look (I carry a spare battery too) but there is a passive tone knob (that works in active mode), bass, treble, treble boost pull and sweepable mids as well as active blend and of course volume. The pup output is strong, particularly the P at the neck.

Thank you for the kind comments, Alan has excelled himself. It's my 4th ACG and he gets better if that's possible. Nice touches ooze from the bass.

The wood combo was a shared decision with Alan. The walnut is really light too and the bloodwood accent works well being thicker than most at 4mm.

The birdseye maple board has blossomed in colour too. The truss rod cover is really a nice touch with the ACG logo. It's mounted with a wee magnet :)
