Obviously depends on budget - but the new Cort Space range at £700ish could be another answer for you. Not talking down the quality of SQOE basses but Cort a bit more of a known quantity.

That's the sharp end of the gig pricing spectrum. Many top bands are now charging £100+ for big gigs, but they are normally with support, bigger "show" and probably a slightly longer set. Appreciate this is a very intimate venue so you get a better view but that's still expensive.

Sounds about right for a first run of models that have literally just come through the door - would have expected BassDirect to at least check the pots when unpacking but that's a 2 minute job. I'm sure if they sell well enough you'll see more versions (multi-scale, fretless etc.)

In case this is of interest to anyone - seems Cort have just released a new headless bass - looks pretty cool and for £700 seems fairly reasonable stacked against Ibanez etc. So new that there's nothing about it on the Cort website 😅 BassDirect have a Star Dust Black model after the green sold whilst it was typing!

Just perusing the Ibanez site as I still have a hankering for a bass with the Powerspan pickups after trying one a while back. I fully appreciate Ibanez do things differently, but this is just.....eeeesh. Anyone a fan of this finish? Mars Gold Metallic Burst

I totally get the OPs point - and if you're not in the market for one then scrolling past a few things to see something you might be interested in can be annoying. But conversely, you can see/read some pretty cool stories about basses from time to time even ones I have zero intention of buying. So I'd leave it as is.

Same can be said for many custom builds, particularly UK builders. Many ACGs go through the For Sale section for between £800-£1500 when they would easily cost double that or more to order new. It's the risk you take custom ordering something since the buyer rarely has an exact point of reference vs buying a Fender P bass that they can try in a shop.

Would like to try a Wal, but I doubt I'll ever be in a position to buy one. Edit after actually reading all posts: having basses sharply price and having multiple of them probably isn't the best combination to get them moving....

Very subjective - but they'll be very little in it between the 3 in terms of build quality. Will come down to playability for you and the tones you're looking for.

Not the best picture, but I think the body shape of the SireRay isn't as jarring in real pictures. Not as convinced by the single cut.....

It was mentioned in a comment on the YouTube launch video for the latest Joe Dart model. If you thought the full fat Music Man versions sell fast, these will literally (fearlessly) fly out the door.

It does look very good on the stand...but gold hardware would have been really cool

Weird coincidence - After not seeing these anywhere since I last owned one, I wandered past The Music Shop in Inverness yesterday and there's a green SGV for sale. Cool looking thing.

As @neepheid says, trying before you buy is always best. Only think I find about Yamaha stock in stores is it's a bit patchy. They'll have loads of the 234/5 then a maybe a 714 and some TRBX. Sometimes hard to see the model you're looking for without checking first.

I understand the sentiment, but if there's demand then people will keep on doing it. Some cool paint designs which I guess separates them from others.

Seeing this thread pop up makes me really miss my old L2000 - definitely one I should have found a reason to hold on to... If anyone has seen it (has distinctive discolouration on bottom of the body from an old guitar stand) let me know
