  1. Just seeing a friend is having to let go of a lot of his basses - possibly the single biggest collection of ACGs to go up for sale too. Would be good to see them go to good homes so keep your eyes on Bass Direct.

@andybassdoyleunfortunately not, they are all handed over as I think he wants to make this as easy as possible which I totally understand. Give BD a call and see what he's dropped off, they'll definitely be some cool basses!

  2. Always funny to see a bass you sold back up for sale at twice what you sold it for, and being described as a "bargain" 😂

For those interested, it's an 80s G&L L2000...price tag is interesting.

To be fair it was about a year ago I sold it, and it's definitely not worth what he is asking. But if don't ask you don't get I guess.

  4. Red Hot Chili Peppers with Anderson Paak and Thundercat next year. YES!

I paid slightly less than that on the O2 presale but not a cheap day out. As long as the set list is good the I'll be happy 😊

  5. Getting nervous about this fuel shortage/non-shortage. Whole band is supposed to be driving up to Scotland from London on Friday, returning Monday and really don't fancy running out halfway there...

Shame, I'm in Glasgow and there doesn't seem to be as much of a issue up here. If you'd made it over the border I reckon you would have been grand! Such a bonkers situation to end up in!

  6. Thought I was patient enough to wait for a relay of friends to get my new bass to me, but it's proving very difficult 😅

      BassApprentice

It's currently in Essex and I need to get it to either Stratford-upon-Avon or Glasgow. Might start a relay request post 😁

  7. The little pang of resignation when you have to list bass gear on eBay 😔

Thanks @Teebs as good as they can be just now! I'm just annoyed at having to use eBay as selling platform as there are so many horror stories these days.

Well, I sold something and got a P Bass instead. Ah well, always the next bass!

  9. Anyone know of any shops in Scotland that stock Sire? I know I could easily buy online and return if it doesn't work out but would like to try before I buy (in the future of course)

    1. BassApprentice

      BassApprentice

Thought it might be the case. Just looked and there's 262 Sire bass variations! That's mad!

Not sure yet....Maybe I'll upgrade some pickups on one of them. Just want some thing new to mess with

  11. Well, that's it. Converted to tapewound strings 😁. So smooth but still with bite.

I'm also on that La Bella kick. Copper White Nylons on my Yamaha and Black Nylons on my Musicmaster.

  12. For those of you with a persuasion for ACGs - it may be worth your time in becoming a member of the ACG Owners group on Facebook. There's going to a be some very nice basses for sale in the near future.

@TheGreek he's a mutual friend of ours and has no less that 13 ACGs I think and he's planning to sell the majority of them in the near future. They'll be some prototypes and other raritys in there. They may appear on here as I'm sure he's a member here too.

  14. That twang of annoyance everytime I hear 'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick' knowing I'll never be able to play it as cleanly as Norman 😅

    1. BassApprentice

      BassApprentice

Fun fact about that lick in Call Me Al - it's backwards. Recorded then played in reverse in the record, hence why it's impossible as the phrasing is, well, backwards 😁😂

  15. I see that Bass Direct now have Super 5s with Laurel fingerboards in.

    Balls.

      Good point.

Only balls would be mine on the chopping block if I cave and buy one!

  16. Why don't Sandberg do a Shell Pink? A soft aged shell pink VM4 would be an instant buy.

      BassApprentice

Ooooh, reason I said as pink wasn't on the configurator. Those pinks are a touch pink. Going to drop Sandberg an email.

  17. Really GASsing for a 5 string Wingbass, or similar very small / short scale bass

    1. BassApprentice

      BassApprentice

I see ACG are now doing very small basses - don't think he has quite cracked the B string on a 23" scale yet....

  18. Ed Sheeran now has his own guitar brand. Interesting approach from Lowden (?!) there....

  19. Are there any studios in Glasgow that I can use for an hour or so on my own to try out my new head and really give it the beans? It's too loud to really test it properly at home.

      BassApprentice

Maybe try this place: http://thepracticepad.co.uk/rehearsal-studios/ Seems to be the only one that doesn't do bookings in 3 hour blocks.

  20. One afternoon spent in Bass Direct. What a shop Mark has. So helpful and let me put my grubby mitts on anything I asked. Some very nice basses in stock but that Kingston Super 5.....

      BassApprentice

@CameronJ I thought you had one! I've been eyeing them up and definitely didn't disappoint. Might consolidate the collection a bit and get one!

Paul is the bass guy at GuitarGuitar Glasgow - he's taken them having nothing but Fenders and Ibanez to having custom shop Sandbergs and Mayones and a lot more in stock.

Absolutely, he has put in a lot of work to twist arms to get some very nice brands in his bass cave. Like you said, he is more than happy to chat and let you play whatever you want!

  23. Ok, which lucky bugger got the Tanglewood Bassmaster Funk on ebay for 97 quid?

      BassApprentice

I picked one up for the princely sum of £50 a couple of years ago. Excellent value for money.
