  1. I had one and whilst I haven't owned Cali, I have played a few and it's not quite the same quality, but really not far off. For around £400 they are probably one of the best P or J basses for raw materials. Add in that the are already routed for active electronics they should provide a good platform.
  2. With Peach Guitars selling these new below RRP and now the first adopters selling for that price, these must easily be one the best value instruments going.
  3. Private group - how much pricey?
  4. Missed a trick by not creating a sub-brand called Abassi. Looks cool though.
  5. Looks cool! Neck dive - might have to bite the bullet and upgrade the tuners to some form of Ultralites.
  6. I did up an older Bronco and I imagine this is better than those were. These have a proper bridge, and better looking tuners, so it will definitely do a job. Will you want to change those bits and maybe the pickup? Probably, but they can be done on a modest budget and make a big difference. If you can find one 2nd hand you're on to a winner!
  7. Have to say, not many other options for something like this. Plus it looks good to boot! https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2024/05/10/eastwood-guitars-teams-with-seye-adelekan-for-the-classic-5-seye-signature-bass/
  8. Yeah I paid £113 if I remember correctly.
  9. My white one was my very first bass, currently away for a bit of TLC after not coping too well with temperature changes in my flat. Looking forward to having it back soon!
  10. I get a feeling if I was take a punt and hate it - I could move it fairly easily as they'll be A) Joe Dart fans who missed out and really want one. B) People who are just generally nosey but not enough of a fan boi to buy it first time round. Yes, I'm trying to talk myself into buying one 😂
  11. Surely Joe Dart has to be Musicman's best selling artist? He's sold out 3 rubs of full fat USA models at tip end price tags now he's made another £250,000 (roughly based on average of £400 for each bass) in less than 12 hours. That's a mad amount of money and units to move for very simple basses.
  12. I can understand her sentiment, but when you are that good at things, even failures look far beyond what many of can hope to achieve. Nice find and maybe one day she will take on work.
  13. Aye, the model naming structure some big brands have adopted is ridiculous. Feel it's become counterproductive for actually selling to punters.
  14. So it seems we are getting an actual Joe Dart by Sterling by Musicman. Interesting.
  15. A Super 5 is probably where I'd go if I had to have one bass for me. Overkill on everything but so versatile.
  16. MTD Kingston is the first that springs to mind. Good range of models and you can get them for your initial budget of £600. Heck, I got my most basic one for £250
  17. Just popped my Squier Musicmaster (my first ever bass) into a local guitar tech for some TLC. Not been taking very good care of it so hopefully he can work some magic!

  18. Ah, AI powered ads are here. People need to learn you can also ask AI to make things more concise...
  19. I agree about focusing on the sound of the bass/gear and not the sound of the player. I sometimes come across the channel Bass Bonedo when looking for reviews. His USP is no talking and (relatively) simple playing, but shockingly he has over 250 videos and only 12.5k subs. While the flashy boys have far more subs. Shows you what works on the internet just now.
  20. All the strings https://youtu.be/p2kJMPfFOX8?si=4K8WF40p-Q2CcbvN
  21. Or for something like this Harley Benton:
  22. Something to while away 15 minutes or so on a Monday - https://www.music-man.com/custom-design-experience Ignore the silly prices and make a few Stingray specs. Nothing ground breaking on the tool but fun nonetheless, the coloured pole pieces are a nice touch.
  23. I think this has been mentioned before, but I'm sure they will Super light anything (within reason). So I don't see why they couldn't do a super light VS-5 for you as a custom option. Timescale could be the only issue now.
  24. I believe there are a few fans of this model. Might be of interest 😅
  25. It's tough with so much info available, but try and not be influenced by others recommendations and opinions. Spend some time with the bass and if something is still really bugging you after a couple of months, then maybe there is a need to change something. A lot of people opinions come from bias of previous basses with other pickups that they maybe like more than the MK1s, but you might not have that experience. Same goes for strings.
