  1. Oh wow, totally forgot about this. I think Catwhisker were able to do a Humbucker in a P90 style case, so very similar to the Serek. I never went through with the order so no idea how it would work out!
  2. In keeping with the vintage theme, I was waiting for a set of older tuners with a bit of patina on them as I know ageing modern chrome tuners is difficult. @ead had the perfect set from his Greco, just old enough to have lost the shine which is perfect. Just a couple of bits left now!
  3. A matching set of G&L basses. SB1 and SB2.
  4. Just seen this on an advert on Facebook. The last word in the second section is a new one....
  5. Spotted this on Facebook. Sandberg Electra = Good Sims Quad = Good Both together for under £600 - Ridiculous value
  6. People need to stop selling basses I want. It's not fair. I want them all 😂
  7. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
  8. Oh my days. I love this! One day I'll rustle up the funds to get myself a properly nice bass again
  9. Question for all the old slappers out there. I've got a Squier Musicmaster and Bronco, and tried a few other SS in shops etc and none have been very good for slapping, particularly the open E. Just feels a bit weak. I wouldn't say any of my SS basses are set up to their best, but what have others found. Is it the strings or set up or pickups in short scales that make them a bit less suited to slapping?
  10. After seeing a video of it, it really makes me further question the "half finished look". It's basically a G&L SB2 without a pickguard. If I was wealthy enough to have £3k around to buy something I wanted I would probably have one of these. Would be very straightforward mod to add a tone control if you really wanted to.
  11. It's been a while. Not much progress as I've been doing other bits. Decided I didn't like the neck finish so changed it a wee bit. Still happy with the worn patches but the Cedar varnish I used didn't work so used a Pine colour and think it looks much more natural now.
  12. It's probably all down to the eq for you. The sound you get at home jamming/practicing is easier as you are the loudest instrument in that moment and you get a sound you really like. In a band, we're all continually competing for space and volume so you'll alter your EQ to cut through and find your space. Others have "their sound" and don't touch anything between home and practice but that's probably far more rare 😂
  13. The now seemingly annual tradition of people getting annoyed that EBMM have made a bass that they don't like and aren't going to buy. This type of release in no way devalues the brand as they still make the same basses they made yesterday and will make again tomorrow.
  14. That placentia looks fine. Just fine. Really hope this isn't a move away from the chunky bridge on the tribute series for cost saving reasons.
  15. A potential bargain for a medium scale BB https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-BBVIs-medium-scale-bass-early-1980s-/275238537149?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
  16. I've been into Bass Direct a few times and Mark has said he enjoys the challenge of finding someone the right bass. If it's there just go on and they'll try and help you find the right bass. Just have to be strong enough to resist the temptation if it is outside your budget 😂
  17. If I could snag one of the 5ers for £600 that would be ideal 😁

  19. Hey, look. Cort found a bass player down the back of the sofa https://www.instagram.com/tv/CbZ_uOfrzet/?utm_medium=copy_link
  20. Not overly so, just actually play it would be excellent 😅
  21. That video is....not great. Very generic and doesn't exactly sell the bass
  22. That's a very fair price by all accounts. Will definitely be trying one.
  23. Just spotted this on Facebook so had a better look. The GB moderns look fantastic and the Elricks don't look too shabby either. Loaded with ultralites, Nordstrands, Markbass and Babicz, will probably cost about £1700. Will be interesting to see how they stack up against other basses in this price range.
  24. It's nice when something like a simple string change totally revitalises your bass!

Truth. I think back to years gone by when I was inexperienced in terms of bass setup and string choice. I would sell basses because they didn’t feel right…in hindsight a string change could have completely fixed things!
