    If you're not a man who likes to solder and tinker - then take it to a tech and see if they can find a fault. Another option could be this : https://retrovibe.co.uk/product/sire-heritage-3-bass-eq-pre-amp-3-band/ and get the whole preamp replaced

    I saw that last night. I genuinely don't play enough to justify the 3 basses I currently have - but that is a very good price. Happy to collect if someone else wants it though!

    On the note of Carey Nordstrand - just saw on Instagram that the Acinonyx 5 string is in development. Cool to see the range expanding

    I think this of nearly every second hand ACG - but surely you won't find a better bass for the money this is going for! It's mad when you see other ACGs going for around the £1000 mark considering what the big players are selling their premium ranges for these days.

    Well it's showing as out of stock.... But who knows what that really means on Bass Direct. Could still be being made or could never have existed at all!

    Bit of an odd one - on these types of things you normally get next to no photos, here you get a fair few! So anyone bidding doesn't have much excuse for not knowing what they are getting here!

    Cool, but odd at the same time - seem to be based out of Philippines/Malaysia with very little online presence. Probably our of a factory that makes basses for many other brands and have decided to take those designs for themselves. The mustang does look cool as a base for changing bits, don't like the Stingray style bridge on it.

    Yet another example of "What Yamaha Can Do vs What Yamaha Give Us" I know this could be said of most brands - but I feel the BB range has such potential for different finishes or pickup arrangements. Maybe one day something like the above will make it to market.

    Always cool to see progress and new ideas being executed to this level. Not for everyone, as stated above, but to have the option for something new and unique - it's pretty cool. Apparently they can print almost any image for the "top wood" section.

    Now - tinkering is all good fun, but you say you're in love with the thing. I would be cautious about changing anything right away if you're happy with it as it is. I appreciate you say the output isn't as high, so maybe a boost pedal would be an idea first?

    As with everything - depends on budget. I'm sure Sandberg would do you a 5 string short scale Lionel if the price was right.

    Get the vibe you're looking for something a bit different looks wise, which is cool! Big fan of the Reverend basses too! Seriously well put together instruments in relation to the price. Each bass is hand signed from the QC which is a nice touch versus other basses at the price. Would definitely recommend a trip to Glasgow, you've also got Kenny's Music and Strung Out all in close proximity so you can score off a lot of options quite quickly versus GG in Edinburgh which is a bit out on its own.

    Just had a look and see in you're in Scotland? If Glasgow isn't too much of a pain to get to pretty sure both Merchant City and Guitar Guitar had them in when I poked my head in the other week. Reckon you'd get a better deal at Merchant City as they are independent vs GG.

    Found out that Yamaha artist Vincen Garcia is depping on the Cory Wong EU/UK Tour - from this I'm sure he'll fit right in to that band that Cory uses! I wasn't going to go as I've seen them the past 3 times they've played, but I could be tempted now!

    Agreed, change one bit at a time. Seem if the loom and altered controls help you get what you want from it first. Pickups might be slightly trickier, but there are plenty of independent pickup makers in the UK who I am sure could rewind - or make something to fit that pickup shape and style.

    Two things that caught my eye when seeing what's happening in Sandberg-land. A new Ida Nielsen model and a custom Central. Very much yes to both!

    If you enter world of basses, Yamaha and Ibanez really are quite full proof options. A pretty neutral style that will allow you to eventually work out what does and doesn't work for you - and buy more basses! Enjoy!

    Sire confirmed the body is the same size. Still cool to see them offering more options though!

    I can't seem to get on with a standard Jazz shape - not sure if these are slightly more compact or just the extra access but intrigued either way

    Looks great - I hope one day I'm a) playing enough b) fortunate enough to justify commissioning a build from Alan as they all look incredible and his recent teaser of staining looks very interesting.
