  1. I had an Electra VS4 which I picked up for £400 and then sold it to Johnny Dibble (if you watch his reviews on YouTube) Stupidly good bass for the money and probably should have kept it as they now seem to have crept up in price, even pre-owned.
  2. Paging @Andyjr1515
  3. Looked at MTD, and the Kingston Range? The Super 5 will do that (and about everything else) I've got this one and I'm sure with a bit of tweaking you could end up at Stingray tone with 19mm spacing
  4. I want to love these but I'm just not a fully blacked out stealth type of guy. Would be great to see this in more colours Vs the other stingray style HBs!
  5. I'm sure there's a luthier who could make one for you 😅 or a Sandberg Lionel could fit the bill?
  6. Nice job! There's a guy I follow on Instagram (@mikepbass) who gets some very nice slap tones out those Double J pickups.
  7. Question - what readily available pickups sound like the pickups in the BBG4A? I liked the tone but don't need another bass and have wanted to change the pickup in my MTD Kingston for a while....
  8. Never seen these before, look very nice! This is tempting....
  9. Not even close to being real
  10. I could be wrong - but apart from Wal I think you'd struggle to spec a build from a UK luthier that would cost the same as the likes of Fodera/Alembic. Not sure why as the quality is there but I haven't seen a UK built bass go for £8k plus.
  11. It's the colour choices that will do well for them. Squier also do good value short scales, but if far fewer colours. Give people a good choice at a great price.
  12. Stopped by a local shop and had a noodle on a BBG4A, really very good. Is £350 fair for these? Might have to move some bits on
  13. I thought I was safe as I'm not a J bass guy. Oh. Bugger.
  14. Simply an incredible collection to come from the same stable. If I could I would buy them all just to keep them in good hands in case the situation changes. Buy with confidence that these came from a good home and will all be excellent basses.
  15. Would be a great support act for Chas and Dave
  16. So....anyone want to sell me a BB414 or 1024? All this discussion today has me wanting one! 😅
  17. If you're lucky you can get one sub £500, but anywhere around that price and you won't feel out of pocket I reckon.
  18. So I'm in the early stages of organising my wedding and we're close to getting a date and venue set. Obviously the next most important thing is the music. Anyone on here play in a band that does both covers and ceilidh? Or can recommend anyone? Thanks!
  19. That's a point, @Doodif you're reviewing a bass that comes in 4 and 5 string and they are only going to send one of them - which do you pick?
  20. If anyone knows of any Tickets for Tedeschi Trucks Band for the Glasgow gig going, let me know!

      I'm also on the hunt!
After years of hoping they'd finally visit Glasgow, I decided against buying tickets when they announced it last year - I feared it'd get pushed back forever like countless other gigs were.

  21. Anyone else managed to try or buy the NJS? Just watched the Bass The World video and am still very interested....
  22. Just seeing a friend is having to let go of a lot of his basses - possibly the single biggest collection of ACGs to go up for sale too. Would be good to see them go to good homes so keep your eyes on Bass Direct.

sorry to hear that - totally unaware of the circumstances here so apologies if my previous note came across a bit mercenary, it was meant to be constructive!

Very sad, he's a top bloke and I'm gutted that circumstances have forced him into this position.

  23. You wax lyrical about these basses, so shame to see you move it on but must be something good in the pipeline to force this sale.
  24. There are many better models out there than ones from Fender and Gibson, but we are creatures of habit and marketing. I believe most of it is down our Six String playing friends, they very rarely stray away from what's available in a local shop meaning anything else isn't "cool" Yamaha, Sandberg and PRS have refined their own designs and are probably technically better than a Fender or Gibson, but since they only get a fraction of market share they aren't going to get in as many hands to understand the differences.
