  1. Ok OK, thanks for the reply. I was just wondering whether to get my Eden Navigator fixed, or this might have been the cheaper option. Paul
  2. Anyone have an idea how this might sound as a bass pre-amp , into a power amp? Done some digging on the net and not found much
  3. I bought one of these new when I were a lad . These really are superb .
  4. Nothing ............... IMO of course
  5. Withdrawn - what on earth was I thinking
  6. Carrying on with the clearout , here we have a Musicman Sterling , with the piezo option , plus original case . I got this a few months ago , but realise as lovely as it is , I'm making a real stab this time at 5 string , so the 4's have to go . Pictures aren't great I know - sorry . Digital scales , with me on then on again with bass , show it's 8.5 lbs . Guy I bought it off was the original owner , who ordered it direct from EBMM . 3 way switch , as per all the Sterlings I've played , is a subtle change , but the addition of the piezo , makes a big difference . Serial number is - F24805 . EBMM database shows date of 23th April 2009 . Not much interested in trades I'm afraid , as I've seen something already . I'm afraid I don't do any online banking - all my buys and sells over the years have been cash on collection/pick up , and that's my preference . Can do bank transfer or PayPal , but you pay charges please . I'm willing to meet up within reason - I can travel up to around 3 hrs to meet . Thanks for looking . Paul
  7. Yeah my mistake- that I couldn’t seem to correct
  8. Dingwall Super P5 . Brand new - literally as it left the factory . Got this from Bass Direct a few months ago - after a wait of over a year . Been out of it's case around a dozen times at the most . Probably one the best basses that I've ever played - just makes sense when you play it , and feels so 'right' . Come to the conclusion (yet again) that I'm not a passive P player , though I bought it to try and convert myself . But even though it's the best P I've ever played , I have to accept that it may not see much use . Weight on scales is 8.5 lbs - and strapped on feels super light . Cost me close to 3K . Prices have recently gone up , and can't find the latest new price for one of these , but Bass Direct have the 4 string version now up for 3.5K . The maple FB which mine has , is an extra cost now . So get a brand new bass for a grand less , and no 12-18 month wait time . I don't do any online banking unfortunately , so cash only - sorry . Though this is the way I've done all my big private buys and sells over the last few years . Happy to meet up half way - up to 3 to 4 hours . Not much interested in trades , as I've seen a Modulus wide string 5 , that's more my liking . Apologies for the pictures on my old phone . Thanks for looking . Paul Put the wrong price on the top , and won't allow me to edit it - doesn't come up as one of the options . Price is £2400
  9. Issues can also occur with ‘pro’ players. Used to play every year at a rally, and my mate did the PA for first few years. He and I had bought matching Eden rigs from the old Wapping Bass Centre years earlier, and he had his set up as a loaner for the weekend. They’d booked a famous Bass Player one year, who had a ‘pub band’ set up, when he wasn’t being famous. He proceeded to rock up, turn everything up full, and crack on. Nearly blew it up!! Also, hasn’t there been a few posts on here over the years, about Norman Watt Roy trashing other people’s Bass gear, and then just walking off? Cause he’s a “good ‘ol boy” ain’t he !
  10. The case/speaker maker Dixon (there's a thread on here somewhere I think) , does something similar . Though it looks more like a regular flight case - ie all silver etc . They are more expensive though . I've been looking at the possibility of the Enki when the gigs come back in , and I've also not been able to find anything that compares , but is cheaper either .
  11. I sold a spotless Status Jazz bass a couple of years ago for around £900. The best jazz bass I’d ever played, and the front pick up was a beast. Was my last stab at a jazz- hoping it’d change my mind on jazz basses. Just don’t do it for me unfortunately. They are stunning basses
  12. Another lovely bass Dave . I take it the B string is good on this
  13. Anyone noticed that they can't access Talkbass at the moment? Is it down?
  14. Front to back . 1st - master volume 2nd - piezo PU/magnet PU blend Then - Treble , Mid , Bass , as per normal . So the extra knob (which could be the bloke playing it) , is a pan , rather than a second volume .
  15. This would be perfect in a 4U rack with my big ‘ol Crest CA9, banging it out at a gig. But come up when I’m pretty much spent out this last year. Unaware if anyone uses these as a live pre- maybe a few over the pond? Haven’t got the funds at the moment, so a pointless reply from me really- he he. But a GLWTS, for one of the all time killer pre amps.
  16. Bought a last month , and just a few rubbish pictures - that are already up on the Musicman Porn page . Got a mate to do a set up , new strings , and it plays really really nicely .
  17. Crest CA9 does grunt in spades . I bought one a few years ago . Used to be in charge of band's PA over the years , so had lots of brands - from big 'ol iron heavyweight jobbies , to various switch mode ones . I bought it on a whim , really expecting all the hype was rubbish , scratch the itch , and move it on . It's a beast . Never a better time to buy a heavy power amp that really does the business , if you don't mind the weight - good bargains to be had .
  18. I might be wrong , but I think Marillion ask people to send them say £15 or the like , this pays to record the album , then they post it out to the person . I think that model , makes them a half decent living . Also , I know nothing about streaming , as not interested at all in it ; but has anyone actually refused to have their songs on Spotify or the like? Thus maybe forcing people to actually buy something?
  19. These are far better than the Ampeg ones , that they copied . Main thing being that you still get the lovely sound on the 'thru' , rather then just the clean . If I remembered this correctly . If I wasn't skint , I'd be all over this , as they hardly ever come up for sale .
  20. I much prefer the looks of the Passions like that , to the Arpeges overall. I'm spent out for a while , but whenever one came up for sale , always every time coincided with me just buying something else .
  21. I see summer festivals are being organised and booked - in case anyone's interested .
  22. Your Dad fretted my Musicman that had a Modulus Quantum fretless neck on it - my main bass since around '91/92 . The fret work was impeccable, and It's been gigged hard all that time , and only required a single little dress up in 30 years . He was the only one I contacted who was up for doing it - this was pre internet , and even Rob Green wasn't interested . My memory is sketchy after 30 years (I was around 22 at the time) , but I do remember a massive shed , with stacks of Goodfellow bodies and necks hanging up . He offered to make me one , but I was skint after borrowing the money for the MM/Modulus hybrid . He had some great stories about Goodfellow , Peter Green , Graham Gouldman , Heartwood guitars and I think even Nigel Ross Scott - who I think he gave a Heartwood to as a freebie , in lieu of TV exposure playing it . I only met him twice , and he was a proper gent .
  23. Jeff Porcaro , James Oldaker , Steve Ferrone
