+1 for Newtone strings. I have standardized on the round core Nickels on all 3 of my short scale basses. It's good to have a UK manufacturer and they will do specials i.e. scale length and strings sizes.
I have put Velcro cable fasteners on my guitar leads. The other day instead of feeding the guitar lead through the gap between the guitar and strap I actually attached the velcro directly to the strap. It hangs more freely and does not rub on the finish of the guitar.
If you use one at the amp end and have a carpet covered cab then the Velcro will 'stick' to the cab and can help prevent inadvertantly pulling the lead out (especially for those of us who are more active on stage).
I moved to short scale basses and my first, which was an ACG, was fitted with Newtone strings and I now have them on all three basses. I like buying British, you get to talk directly to the company and there service is great. Yep, you may wait a little longer but allow for that and there is no problem.
I also thought that if a top quality luthier fits them then they must be good.
Agree with Cosmo. Currently the band have decided to include Paper Plane in the set and I must admit I am finding it awkward to decipher and I can't find any tabs on it.
Ibanez UK are not the only ones to have this problem. I work for a multi-national company and we regularly have customers asking for product we know nothing about. A lot of is because certain items are only released in certain countries (typically due to differing standards) and they get really annoyed because you did not know about it. It has got worse due to the wide use of the internet.
Hi LeftyP my SWB-1 does the same - there is a difference when moving the tone knob but it is a minor one. Mine is the 'original' Scott Whitley version of the bass.
I tried the 'seagull' shape on my Retroglide and Two10 last night while practicing in a very small studio. It produced a very acceptable sound not to vintage and not to modern.
I will try it in a few different situations and see how we get on.
I purchased a Gator bag from Gareth recently an excellent transaction and the wife thought the bag was new. Gareth kept me informed during the sale and also was patient when there was a delay in my replies.
Top man, thanks Gareth.
It is a fine little amp.
I use mine with a Barefaced 2 Ten from a DHA VT1 and it is very versatile combo due to the graphic. I can get sounds ranging from modern to traditional tones.
