  1. Yes, well done Alan, the accolades are deserved.
  2. I agree with Owen about the Newtone nickel roundwounds they are flexible and you can still dig in when required without the string feeling sloppy. You can opt for round or hex core and there's different string wraps which give a slight variation on the tension.
  3. See if you can find a Genz Benz Shuttle 3-8T floating around it's small and compact and has the advantage that the head is removable.
  4. Nice one. I have the 4ohm only version and their are very versatile and great sounding cabs.
  5. I purchased a modified short scale P bass from this site (the pickups and bridge had been changed) and can't really fault it. The guitarist in our bad loves the sound coming out of it at rehearsals, so not gigged with it yet but would not be afraid to.
  6. That article is in this months 'Which' magazine. It's an interesting read.
  7. Hi Dave, Mine came through last week. Many thanks.
  8. If it's any help I can recommend the following short scale basses: Harley Benton P bass (pimped with new pickup d pick guard. Scott Whittley SWB-1 (original version) ACG Skelf Short Scale All at different price levels but all good (but the ACG is without a doubt the best).
  9. Hi Mark, Welcome to the site, glad your enjoying playing.
  10. Try two lengths of pipe lagging inside each other. Tape round the length so that the seems meet as close as possible to each other to form an decently even tube which you can put under the effects pedal. You could add Velcro to keep it in place. I use a small version of this under my bass cab to angle it off the floor by a couple of inches.
  11. I would still talk to Newtone strings as they may be able to wind a custom set for your application.
  12. Nice one Bob, keep up the good work (bass playing anyway).
  13. I must admit I agree with Dave give the chance for the guy to resolve his issues. The band I am in put up with me having to go to hospital (normally A & E) if there are issues with my parents health. It's nice to know that they say they miss me when I am not there and I am certainly not the best player.
  14. I agree with Raslee on the Retroglide. It's a very versatile piece of kit which allows you to get a wide variety of sounds out of it via the graphic style controls.
  15. I use my Two 10 with an Ashdown Retroglide 800 and because the amp uses graphic equalizer style controls it's easy to get a wide variety of sound out of the cab. I went for the 4 ohm version on Alex's recommendation as my backup amp is a MarkBass Blackline 250.
  16. Nice job there Mr eude. I am also a fan of Alan's short scale basses having a 30.5" 4 string Skelf.
  17. If the 3M Dual Lock is that strong would you not get away with just putting a piece on each foot and corresponding pieces on the cab?
  18. Welcome from a fellow Midlander.
  19. As chris b say's: "What's the alternative? Massive tinnitus, giving up gigging, hearing aids and partial (if you're lucky) deafness. Great choices!!" I have everything except the 'giving up gigging' bit caused by a rock concert I went to. I use custom earplugs, wouldn't recommend anything less.
  20. A job well done Clunkie66. Congrats ad keep it up.
  21. Dave, How would the Spitfire version look in the original plane's colours?
  22. +1 but just double check your amp has no loose bits floating around inside just in case a short occurs. (Not casting any assertions on the state of your amp - just a precaution.)
  23. Hi Dave, Being in a buy British mode and with all the past exploits we are remembering this year (including my 60th birthday) it ticks the boxes for me Dave. (My dad will love it as he is ex RAF.) I would suggest this as a one off or special edition maybe though?
  24. You may get some latency as the sounds got to go up hill, turn it the other way up and you'll be hearing the notes before you play them - difficult choice
  25. It looks very pretty.
