  1. I also had an ACG for my 60th and can recommend them highly plus you are buying UK made product.
  2. Probably need at least 3 passports to play a bass with that finish
  3. Welcome Rewi, we are a friendly bunch (most of the time) so I hope you enjoy the site.
  4. Keep the Wal and buy a Harley Benton shorty as a second bass and modify as you go along. More fun and you don't need to feel bad about selling the bass. Second option sell the bass and give Alan at ACG a ring and discuss your requirements with him.
  5. It's Scott Devine and he has a neurological condition called focal dystonia that makes his fingers/hand shake when they are not touching something. The gloves help to stop the movement by acting as a support. Scott explains it better in one of his You Tube videos.
  6. I like the spalted beech option, the black hardware just seems to blend with the wood better for me..
  7. I have all my short scale basses strung with Newtone Platinum Nickel roundwounds these seem to work on all 3, Harley Benton P bass shorty, Scott Whitley SWB-1 and the ACG Skelf short scale. Alan at ACG supplies his basses fitted with Newtone strings.
  8. Was always impressed with the Peavey Microbass I had a few years ago. It held it's own at band practice a number of times.
  9. As they say ped 'imitation is the sincerest form of flattery'
  10. I had a Spector Legend 5 string which is an excellent bass, well built good sounding and not that expensive.
  11. I agree. I think it is a sign of the times, courtesy has a low priority with some people in this rush-rush world.
  12. Yep, been very pleased with the modified Harley Benton short scale P bass. Sometimes the low end basses can 'feel' high end with a little fettling
  13. +1 for Newtone strings. I have standardized on the round core Nickels on all 3 of my short scale basses. It's good to have a UK manufacturer and they will do specials i.e. scale length and strings sizes.
  14. I have put Velcro cable fasteners on my guitar leads. The other day instead of feeding the guitar lead through the gap between the guitar and strap I actually attached the velcro directly to the strap. It hangs more freely and does not rub on the finish of the guitar. If you use one at the amp end and have a carpet covered cab then the Velcro will 'stick' to the cab and can help prevent inadvertantly pulling the lead out (especially for those of us who are more active on stage).
  15. I use one for hanging guitar straps on rather than rolling them up.
  16. I've got an RB... amp head in the garage - must get it out and have a play
  17. I moved to short scale basses and my first, which was an ACG, was fitted with Newtone strings and I now have them on all three basses. I like buying British, you get to talk directly to the company and there service is great. Yep, you may wait a little longer but allow for that and there is no problem. I also thought that if a top quality luthier fits them then they must be good.
  18. Thanks NoRhino, currently playing along with the You Tube studio version. I suppose I could let the guitarist do any fancy infills
  19. Agree with Cosmo. Currently the band have decided to include Paper Plane in the set and I must admit I am finding it awkward to decipher and I can't find any tabs on it.
  20. Ibanez UK are not the only ones to have this problem. I work for a multi-national company and we regularly have customers asking for product we know nothing about. A lot of is because certain items are only released in certain countries (typically due to differing standards) and they get really annoyed because you did not know about it. It has got worse due to the wide use of the internet.
  21. Hi LeftyP my SWB-1 does the same - there is a difference when moving the tone knob but it is a minor one. Mine is the 'original' Scott Whitley version of the bass.
