  1. Just come across this site if it's of use to anyone for guitar bodies and necks (both skinny and fat): https://www.boobooguitars.co.uk/
  2. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++1 what ped says.
  3. Nice bit of kit there Bridgehouse, glad your pleased with it.
  4. It is a bit of a mix. I agree with Paul S as I have purchased a Silver Series Squier recently and can back up his comments. I also have a heavily modified Harley Benton Shorty P bass which has a Delano pick up and it sounds and plays great. Then again not quite a P bass but I have an ACG TKO short scale with a P pick up which has become my go to bass, but, any of the 3 are extremely usable and sound great but each is slightly different. Conclusion: you don't have to spend megabucks, one of the above was less that £200, the other under £300.
  5. Not sure how mini the tuners have to be but there are both Korg Pitchblack and Boss TU-3 's in the Effects classifieds.
  6. +1 for dood's comments especially the last paragraph. Due to concerts and specifically one in my forties I developed ringing in my ears which years later has led to hearing aids and the wearing of moulded in ear protectors when I play so as not to cause any more damage. I will echo the fact that at times the continual ringing can drive you to despair, I don't know what silence is any longer. Be warned, get any sign of hearing damage checked out and instigate the required precautions accordingly.
  7. I use Newtone Diamond Nickel round wound round core 50 - 110 gauge to very good effect on my ACG and HB short scales. Can also recommend their Platinum Nickel round wound on hexagonal core 45 - 105 gauge if you want a smoother less finger noise string for recording.
  8. It's turning into one of those plucking threads again.....
  9. I signed up a couple of years ago after the 14 day trial. Like some have said for it can be difficult to have a regular tutor but being able to 'dip' into the academy when time allows is a god send. I also find that being able to recap and replay the lessons when it suits is a boon. Eventually took the full subscription offer and with retirement on the horizon I will be (hopefully) using it to the full.
  10. Just purchased a Squire Silver Series P bass from Alain, an excellent and easy transaction from start to finish and he even delivered it to me. First class service and a gentleman to boot. Thanks ead.
  11. Quick take Bridgehouse's computer off him before he gets a reply to his PM🙄
  12. You could go for the ACG Krell fretless in the classifieds and take a string off
  13. I don't look 61 (so I am told), feel more like 30, and the wife says she will have children when the one she's got grows up and leaves home. With me being the comedian in the band my band mates are of a similar opinion
  14. I'm the eldest in the band at 61, the lead guitarist is 60 the drummer 55 and the singer/rhythm guitarist 48. We have never spoken about age, play classic covers and are actively looking for gigs. We also have the best interaction between band mates since I joined 20 years or so go.
  15. Good idea, I'm going to remember that one Lozz when my Swiss Army laptop bag and me retire.
  16. I was thinking of suggesting that one as I read through the post. Put it with one of Lozz's Ashdown cabs in the classifieds and you will be well away.
  17. No you are not alone, our studio practice room also causes sound problems, boominess, havoc with the vocals etc...
  18. What's the possibility of ageing the white scratch plate to more of a buttercream colour?
  19. Yep, and I think I'll be reduced to tears
