  1. It's a pity you have a 4 inline headstock as you could have tried my Status strings. What's the distance from ball end to tuner on the Jaguar?
  2. I have used Status short scale flatwounds which seemed pretty good.
  3. Update on my post - yep we are definitely better as a 4 piece without the old singer.
  4. Took the TKP to band practice last night, it plays like a dream and the pickup sounds terrific. A P bass with tone that looks stunning - what more could you ask for.
  5. I'll tell you tomorrow. Not a player but our singer left last week and the rhythm guitarist has offered to take on his duties.
  6. I started 'playing' in my late teens teaching myself from the archetypal tune a day book for a couple of years so my standard was very to poor to non existent. I stopped due to starting work and re-started at 44 and now at he age of 60 I play in a band. My level of playing is only fair but does the job and the enjoyment I get from have taken up the bass is enormous. Don't think about it just do it and if you need any support there are members on this forum are always prepared to help you out.
  7. Just sold my SWB-1 to Sid excellent transaction, great communication, great bloke. I have no hesitation about recommending him. Thanks Sid.
  8. Nice looking bass there Mr Paulhauser, just the right shade or red.
  9. Worthwhile cause Al Krow, well plugged.
  10. I used a pick a while ago and could not get on with it, but I think I going to have to persevere a little more.
  11. Thanks for all the complimentary replies guys. Alan does make exceedingly good guitars.
  12. Hi All, Arrived yesterday a new ACG TKO from Alan. It is one of two he has made and it is absolutely stunning, the photo's only get you 90% there. The texture within the wood itself really adds something. It comprises: Black Limba body and top. 3 piece Maple with carbon Rosewood neck, 30.5" scale. Hipshot Type B in chrome.Hipshot string tree, Gotoh GB7 tuners, Dunlop straplocks, Newtone strings. ACG PB pickup with Alnico magnets. Weighs around 7.5lbs (not put it on the scales yet). It has what I would call a true PB sound but with more tonal variation available. Can't wait to try it out at band practice on Tuesday.
  13. Lets mount a covert rescue attempt
  14. Dyerseve, I remember that idea from my days as a member of HiFi Wigwam. Still got the T shirt
  15. Only ever tried Status flats and they seem to have a pretty high tension (compared to the Newtone round wounds I use).
  16. Found this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Original-Blake-Bravo-Bass-Guitar-Case-Brand-New-Semi-Hard-case-not-a-bag/153041073423?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20160908110712%26meid%3Dbba9b87f455e40cb8d2f4717df973597%26pid%3D100677%26rk%3D8%26rkt%3D30%26sd%3D292579991634%26itm%3D153041073423&_trksid=p2385738.c100677.m4598
  17. That's a nifty amp bracket JohnDaBass - simple but effective. That stands good as well. Food for thought with the Two10. Many thanks.
  18. Up for sale is my Scott Whitley SWB-1 4 string bass I purchased in mid 2016 and is one of the original versions that Scott launched under his own name. Details: Short Scale 30.5" 24 fret Ash body Rosewood fingerboard 24 fret Jazz style pickups Volume and Tone controls plus pickup selector switch Fitted with Dunlop dual straplocks Weight: 7lbs The bass is in very good condition with no marks as far as I can see, the protective plastic is still on the rear control cavity. Will be strung with a set of GHS/Newtone round wound strings but can include a used set of Status stainless steel flats if required. The price includes a serviceable hard case. Looking for £299 collected from just outside Lichfield, Staffs/could meet up/courier at cost.
  19. Nice you to hear you are happy with the sound JohnDaBass - I have the Two10 and concur with your conclusions. Would be interested in your DIY bracket. What stand are you using?
  20. I not sure what level of total volume is required in reality but we do two punk numbers and my 4 ohm Barefaced Two10 fed from an Ashdown Retroglide has never struggled against a loud drummer and 2 guitarists. In fact I have only had compliments about the sound. The 4 x 10 fed by an Eden 350 we use at practice does not really cut it in the same way.
  21. I've got one of these, they are an extremely versatile amp and great sounding.
