  1. I use mine with Barefaced Two10 and it works a treat. As Raslee has commented you can get an array of sounds easily from 'modern to vintage' so it does not matter to much what cab you have you should be able to get the sound you want. It also enables room boundary problems and bass boom to be dealt with. Noisy fan - maybe a little but not overtly noticeable in a band situation. Low output - I think the pot on these is more gradual. In a practice situation with loud drummer and more reasonable guitarist the input volume is at about 2 o'clock with no 'overload light illuminating, while the output is at 1 o'clock.
  2. Just to keep any bass GAS at bay I'd go for 2 and modify the HB. It would then be nearly new GAS.
  3. Wonder why he did not put it in the classifieds if he's a BCer?
  4. Got my fingers crossed for you.
  5. He's being greedy after offering it to you at a price he was obviously happy with.
  6. Criteria - it must work. Not to worried which one I take.
  7. A very simplistic amp with instrument and pre-amp inputs only, no 'tone' controls, tuner, USB socket and speaker outputs. Then produce a range of pre-amp/foot pedals/plug-in modules for any other requirements. There could be a pre/power combination as an alternative. This gives the bassist the ability to add and change as required.
  8. Agree with BigRedX , discreet and Shambo regarding the mp3 files. There are better formats available and you could copy cd/vinyl using a bespoke conversion program (I use Exact Audio Copy) and run from your Mac. These should sound better than mp3 (obviously for personal use only). Another thing to look at as an outboard Digital to Analogue converter which can be far better than those built into your computer and not expensive. Petty your not closer as I have one or two you could try.
  9. Earthing problem?
  10. Congratulations Sibob, I hope the wedding went well.
  11. Hi Dave and LeftFoot, How would the unit look like if you keep the lettering formal but the paint job splatter? I have also emailed you re purchasing a unit at the discounted price. BR Alan
  12. Tutor wise: See if there is someone in your area already listed in these postings. Where are you based? Book wise: Hal Leonard Bass Method Complete Edition. Internet: Scotts Bass Lessons, you can subscribe to the academy, but trial first.

  16. Glad you are happy with your super compacts. My Two10 turned up last week and it's a great piece of kit.
  17. Having also just celebrated my 60th - have a great day, I hope everything goes well.
  18. The '10' series cabs have Tolex as standard. All the others have acrylic as the default finish. If this is not true Alex owes me £50 .
  19. I've just got a Barefaced Two10 for a similar situation. I run an Ashdown Retroglide as my main amp but I also needed something my backup amp, a Markbass Blackline 250, would be capable of diving to decent sound levels.
  20. cgg199: I'll try to get some pictures together at the weekend. gjones: as far as I am aware the standard finish is Tolex and you can request the acrylic at extra cost. Alex does offer a customizing option on his cabs so drop him an email with what you are looking for.
  21. Ha Ha.... Alex She's sounding fine now and settling in well
