I've been out of work with stress for a couple of years. Had a job interview earlier today - just had a message to say they were very impressed and asked if I can start next Monday. Now what can I spend that money on???8 points

Just took delivery of this little beaut a couple of weeks ago. S2 Classic 5-string headless thru-neck with gold hardware and Bendwell & Paramatrix options. Although we spoke at length with Rob & Dawn about the finish I was going for (and probably gave Rob a headache in the process!) the end result was even more stunning than I'd expected. Literally gave me a sharp intake of breath when I first opened the case.4 points

The Gig with Dream Tröll was a massive success, we almost hit the venue cap. Made tons of cash and paid every band and I'm 80 quid up. A fantastic night all round.4 points

I have just spent some time catching up on a very moving thread, not too big to admit I even had a little cry. It makes me think of how this community has developed over the years, how it has grown, thrived and become the great place it is today. Made by the people that visit it. This in turn makes me think of some of the great members we have lost, snatched by time, illness or other causes. This forum will remain a place where you are remembered, some by many, some by few but you will be remembered. A salute to those we have lost, you remain in our hearts always!4 points

Hi Bass players. I'm Bob O'Brien a 61 year old jazz upright bass player who has been playing on and off for about 50 years. I play a German flatback bass of unknown origin made in the 1850's with a Revolution Solo pickup and use a Gallien-Kruger amplifier for small gigs. I studied at Berklee in the late 1970's, stopped gigging after getting married to pursue a day job, and retired in August (finally!!) and am playing the bass regularly again. I've kept my chops up fairly well over the years but completely lost touch with equipment, technology, trends, etc that affect bass players. I really appreciate the wealth of bass knowledge on these pages and look forward to learning from everyone here on the boards.3 points

I'm used to playing my ER Basses with all sorts of effects and goodies and they sound ace. This afternoon however I have been playing my (new) old Precision bass with nothing but me and amp. It sounds insanely good. I even tried out some of the effects that I am used to using live... nope, P bass just sounds amazing without. Really good. It reminds me of a sound I had in my head when I was younger (my first REAL P bass when I was 18). Happiness.3 points

Are we really going to change the rules of Cricket just because kids don't find it 'exciting' and have the attention span of a goldfish?? Anyone who doesn't understand the rules doesn't deserve to enjoy the game, IMHO. Bah! Tsk! Pshaw! And so on.2 points

Failed to find a kebab in Liverpool. unbelievably there just wasn't one between the venue and the motorway. Had my girlfriend with me and her 16 year old daughter who thinks kebabbing sounds the best thing about being in a band and had been looking forward to hers all night. The day was saved by the ever excellent Mediterranean Pizza back home in the centre of the known universe, though she couldn't finish it. Bit of an eye opener for the pair of them leaving the house at 5.30 and getting home at 2am, an insight on the work and time involved that goes into a gig. New Peaky Blinders theme show was very well received so all in all a top night.2 points

Excellent start to the kebabing weekend, got some pussie as well. Very tasty chicken burger meal inc. chips and a drink for less than three and a half earth pounds. By default as it was the first takeaway we came across trying to escape Bolton, lost as we always are trying to get out of Bolton as they were close to closing and it was all they had left. Would defo go for this again. This little fella was in the quiet bar round the corner on his stool as he usually is keeping an eye on proceedings.2 points
