  2. Keep your skills up to speed, get out there and something will turn up if you want it to. My last band, a function outfit drifted apart after 6yrs and at 63yrs old I thought the party was over. I placed my profile on Bandmix and 3 weeks later I was in a '80s cover band. Go for it!

  4. The Baby Quasar, is the Analog phase part of the mighty Quasar (without the extra digital bells and whistles) It's a very versatile 4 stage Phaser, with control over the centre frequency which should be standard on all phasers, as well as resonance and depth/rate. It can do the warm phase 90 thing, but also can have a very bright aggressive sound, which works perfectly with fuzz, it has a very wide range . It can also run up to 12v for extra headroom, very cool phaser indeed, I've tried loads of others and this is my favourite, just need to unlock a bit of cash. It has a bit of the wording worn off, but other than that in good condition, very small pedal in a pretty palma violet colour. Comes with the original Box
  5. Perfectly reasonable thread as it looks like an amp that might cater to a lot of bassists' needs/desires.
  6. I have decided to sell my 1974 Gibson Ripper, which I bought on Basschat in 2011. When I bought it the body had been completely sprayed black. I stripped this all back and was surprised to find the wood is alder, rather than maple, which weighs in at a very comfortable 9lb. Details of the restoration ... I was able to preserve the original finish on the back of the body, but the front had to be resprayed with matching laquer from Manchester Guitar Tech. The original pickguard was wrecked by the paint and has been replaced with 3 ply tortoise shell sourced from the US. It was hard to find one that was correct for the Mk1 body and I ended up with one where the volume and tone knobs are not in the correct alignment, but they work just the same. The pickups, 3-point bridge, knobs and tuners are all original. The trussrod cover and the number disc for the chicken head selector are replacements. The paint on the headstock is crazed, but it's much less noticeable than it appears in the photos. Dating these is difficult but from pot codes and other data it appears to be 1974. It comes with a Chase gig bag. I very rarely play it now, but the action still feels good. If you like the sound of a Ripper, you should like this. Located about 30mins drive from J15 on the M40, west of Stratford upon Avon. Collection preferred, delivery may be possible, courier last resort. Payment by bank transfer or Paypal gift.
  7. My EBS has arrived. Now to make a spot for it.
  8. I found the Streamliner far too wooly for me and I like wool! Maybe I didn't tweak the knobs enough. I think this one will be more to my liking.
  9. I will entertain trades for this, with something my way….🤷🏻‍♂️
  10. I can't believe it's not sold. A beautiful vintage bass with case...what's not to like. I have 6 basses that l gig and alternate on a regular basis, but if l could warrant spending on another bass l would definitely buy this and just hang it on the wall and admire it like an expensive painting while sipping on a malt whisky....apologies in advance for the ramble l'll get my coat.... Glwts bud.
  11. Not ticketed, but aside from festivals our biggest crowds have been pay at the door events rather than free ones.
  12. Yup I’ll get them over to you
  13. PS sorry @funkle for hijacking your thread.
  14. Just finished routing the pick guard and some finishing touches like countersinking the screws etc. Was just about to connect it up and realised all my flathead screwdrivers i need to connect the pickups and preamp have gone missing 🥲 Very happy with how it’s turning out, ended up spacing the pickups a little further than initially intended largely down to cosmetics and symmetry.
  15. I’ve read a lot of reviews about the Warwick Gnome amps but there doesn’t appear to be much on their cabinets. Has anyone had any experience with the cabinets as I’m think about the 2x8 or 2x10 4ohm with the gnome head as I want something smaller (and more forgiving on my back) than my 30year old TE combo?
  16. Yeah if you move the divider directly after the input you get a Selector routing option. Dunno what it does but sounds like it has a lot of potential!
  17. I believe you need it set to Mode = Pan, not sure if you could then set an assign to toggle mix 100:0 or 0:100 or something. I seem to remember if you put a divider immediately after the input it changes too.
  18. It is tough… my band of 20 years is fizzling out. Two gigs booked this year (both a bit crap, one unpaid) and a not very inspiring rehearsal last Sunday. A decent number of gigs booked with the other (not as much fun) band but we’re moving house next year and the added distance will knock that on the head. Dunno if I can be bothered starting again at nearly 50…
  19. Hello everyone. I have a Barefaced Compact 15, bought new by a bass chat member in 2012, then purchased by me in 2013. I used it for quite a few gigs that year, but since then it's probably been played a handful of times. It's got a silver grill and comes with a roqsolid case. Overall it's in great condition, a couple of dings, photos attached. Currently, it lives at my studio in Hackney Downs, but it could also be collected from my home near Bounds Green. I could probably deliver it, if it isn't too far / for petrol money. Payment in cash preferred. I may consider a trade or part trade - for a cab that's a bit smaller. I'm potentially open to other trades, so ask away. Dan
  20. Your strengths are that you are prepared to put in the hard work to learn the songs and be a reliable bass player . This alone stands you in good stead for any future bands . Its not always the flash players that get the gigs .
  21. Just bought this on here, it’s in great condition and sounds as awesome as we know these do, but an unexpected expense means I need to recoup some money quickly, so sadly it’s got to go. £60 posted to uk.
  22. Come to think of it, I suspect there are some well-informed members of this forum even, who admire the basses which Jack Stratton et al. market to them as musicians. I for one like what EBMM and Joe Dart are doing, and I hope it inspires a new generation of bass players to emulate their hero.
  23. Haha, funny enough I was watching this concert earlier today. Steve Gadd & Anthony Jackson are both on it, with Dave Grusin and few other top, top players.
