How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
dave_bass5 replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
Well he has been playing for over 40 years I believe. Ive only known him for 3 of those. I joined the band and feuds I had a lot of work to put in. I was happy to put the work in to get them up to speed, but it seems he is so stuck in his ways that it will impact the band getting gigs. Having played the club/function scene for a good 20+ years I know the standard thats needed. All are competent players, but struggle with the fact that thy have to be professional about it if they want paid gigs. -
Some promoters are morons. We were playing a well known pub chain and the manager had to fight his way across the heaving dance floor to tell us he wanted us to play more danceable music!!! The dance floor was full, so we carried on with the set and everyone had a great night. . . . and we didn’t get rebooked!

I use a very old and very mellow Ibanez chorus for occasional use only. The sort of songs it excels on have bassline with slow, melodic sections - What is and what should never be is an example, it makes the long, slow slides shimmer.

Nile Rogers autobiography Le Freak is a good read. I've just finished reading Just Backdated by Chris Charlesworth, an account of his years working for Melody Maker in the early '70s. An excellent account if like me you were at an impressionable age at the time. I think I got it from @Mickeyboro

State of play tonight. Most of the 'back end' connections are made, and after much cursing and struggling with inaccessible M3 fixings, the bias board is fitted. I'm not 100% happy that it's secure though and I may yet look at mounting it to the end of the chassis.

I have a Behringer PA amp. Very happy with it and slightly intimidated by all it's bi-amping and bridging possibilities. Fortunately I just need a basic stereo amp.

In my old punk covers band The Daves we played a local venue where we went down amazingly. Unfortunately a lady and her husband that we knew had come to see us, she was very drunk and started a fight with him, yelling at him very loudly in the middle of the pub. When he left she started yelling at anyone who made eye contact she would fight them too. Her broad German accent made the behaviour even more noticeable in rural Watford. We could hardly say we didn’t know her as she had a Daves tee shirt on. No matter how many times we tried to get gigs they were always fully booked…..

Likes a Phaser, started back in the 80's with an Amdek Boss-a-like Kit Likes a Joyo, have the 3 Knob Ironman Nebulous Phaser, (and the Rowin Nano) But this takes a battery... and was cheap! Not a fan of the Vintage Phase decal so scraped it off. Nice Single Knob Phaser, prefer Slow and Shallow these are not that overbearing on the depth.

Interesting. I have a simila, but significantly lower intensity, high pitched whine on my Euro 5LX, which I assumed was a shielding issue and have been meaning to get looked at by a bass tech. Paging @cetera !

Agreed. There’s so much junk on the vintage market. This seems a genuinely really well cared for bass and the sort of thing a collector would want in their collection.
