  2. MXR bass preamp/di Great pedal, good condition, velcro on the bottom. £105 delivered (UK) Any questions just ask 👍
  3. I did eventually get another Monza and I can confirm that it has done everything people said it would. I don’t think I’m going to need another/replacement amp. Using the two Monza’s together, there is an instant volume increase, plus a heftier feel to the bottom end, while retaining clarity. Another advantage is that the second cab is much nearer to mine and the audience’s ear level. The Monza has excellent dispersion as it is but the extra height of the second cab really adds an extra level.
  4. Out of Time - Chris Farlowe
  5. oh wow these aren’t a arm or a leg AT ALL. Really appreciate this. I’ll look into the TRS to TRS cable also. T
  6. Appreciate this. Make me happy I joined this forum.
  7. Yazz Ahmed in Manchester Jazz Festival, which I can’t describe better than Jazz Times’s reviewer - except to add that Ralph Wyld on vibes and marimba was just extraordinary - almost show-stealing, had all the others not also been so good. Also so far seen Phil Meadows’ Beware of the Bear with Joe Downard excellent on bass guitar and unexpected bonus of Rosie Frater Taylor on guitar; John Ellis with the awesome Grant Russell on DB; and Ladies of Midnight Blue which sounds like it should be a sort of smoky female-vocal led account of the standards songbook but was actually two women (very adeptly) whacking the bejeezus out of various drums whilst spreading Black consciousness. And blowing bubbles. I liked it.
  8. loving this today.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKjlgblVaUs
  9. That was my thought, reading between the lines of the letter. The Hiscox brand has too much value to just throw on the scrap heap, I'm certain it will continue, probably manufactured in the Far East although they may wait a while to see how all the Trump tariff nonsense plays out before they make the decision on exactly where, which would explain why they're not taking any more orders at the moment.
  10. Back on, and now EUR 3300 / GBP 2750
  11. Similarly disappointed. (My dad-joke on seeing "Huge carpet sale" signs.)
  12. Great review and I echo all your sentiments. This cab is seriously impressive!
  13. I prefer it in the 'new' colour, adds to the retro chic, as do the lipstick pickup covers, it looks amazing now, like a forgotten entry in an old Danelectro catalogue
  14. If my sound is dull or flat it's time to change strings. ☺️
  15. That comes as no surprise. 25x25mm pieces of wood connecting the sides to each other and the top to the bottom is the equivalent of doubling the panel thickness for vibration reduction. Three spaced around the driver hole connecting the baffle to the back does the same. 25 to 50mm thick foam or polyester wadding on the interior stops internal reflections that lead to ragged midrange response.
  16. I would buy this if I didn't already have two. I love the look and they feel so comfortable to play. This is a bargain.
  17. I've had my Bass Centre branded hiscox Liteflite for well over twenty years and it is still in near-perfect condition. My '81 precision lives in it an says it is very comfy. Such a shame to see a universally well regarded company close its doors.
  18. Great review, I`m sure at some point I`ll end up with some form of LFSys cab, they just seem to tick all points, only thing really stopping me is I haven`t had to use my own rig for years, all the gigs I do have gear already there.
  19. Too Late, Too Late - Queen
  20. For the last few weeks we've been working on nine new covers and last night we allowed ourselves a smug nod with the realisation that eight of them are finally ready to go into the set.
  21. Today
  22. Not unlikely. If he's been trading for 40 years, Brynn must be thinking of retirement. If he can sell the brand name and add something to his retirement pot, good luck to him.
  23. I can recommend @Manton Customs - Robin just did an amazing job on my Maruszczyk Elwood 5a Absolution, truss rod replacement for the "soviet era" rod in there after it gave up (seriously, it's not a good design) - also put carbon rods in. Sourced, aged and replaced binding for the board which looks excellent. Now playing so nicely! There's a thread for the work over here:
  24. Hmm, it would appear that my bass has seen some sun. The letters on the neck heel ("SL") and this page of the Burny/Fernandes catalogue from 1991 suggests that when it was new, it was silver... It's gone a bit gold/green/yellow depending upon the light. I love finding out stuff like this
