  2. You are right. I need to find an Ian Hill model, the PJ version. That also visually goes well with the Mike Starr - Black and White, Yin and Yang, the dark side and the light side etc etc etc.
  3. Gouda ‘Nuff - Van Halen
  4. Seems like you still can't order from them in general though, but the site is at least still there. I imagine they have a lot of stuff to work through
  5. Seems strange that such an incredible city like Edinburgh wouldn't have a classical teacher, but I don't doubt it. I only know one in Bristol. I love the sounds of the bow, too. In the end, it's what the bass was designed for, so no wonder it sounds so rich and vibrant. Personally, I'm an experiential learner and found that the months of time I spent watching videos and trying to teach myself was wasted. A few lessons with a teacher had me making the sounds I wanted with the bow. Without wanting to come over all Swiss Tony, it's very much like driving a car. Someone can explain the mechanics and the movements and mechanics to you, but you really need to get behind the wheel and hit the road. Wish you the best of luck and will step aside for some (hopefully Scottish based) experts.
  6. Recently published and totally new books on: Mama Cass of the Mamas and the Papas The Zombies Manfred Mann Each retail at £25. I am charging half price plus £3.35 UK postage - £15.85. Discount given on two or more books. All are great reads.
  7. Played my green one on saturday night and realised it is a better bass in natural light, because under green light it looks a bit sickly, whereas under sunlight it glows - should have swapped the order this weekend!
  8. This was my first ever pedal, had so much fun with it! GLWTS
  9. @Eldon Tyrell that's a beauty, black cherry is one of the best finishes for me on a Spector, I had a Euro 5LX but foolishly sold it. Too bad about the neck profile but there's nothing you can do really other than selling it it. Once you play the Starr you'll always be reminded....
  10. Waiting on a 12 string - buy on soul, not price Strange title, but it will make sense. I used to have six guitars and was typically following the X+1 formula. A Tanglewood 12 string A Squier Fender Strat copy A 1972 Yamaha FG-140 A Cordoba Electro classical A Simon & Patrick SP6 A Yamaha 3/4 steel string (for a child) I sold a few, was robbed of the Cordoba and the Squier. I loved the S&P story and it was for a long time my go-to guitar. I then found myself in a position of being able to spend more, and went looking at Martins and wanted an electro S&P. I ended up with a very nice Maton SRC-70c (Australian S&P in my view). My mind wandered and I became obsessed by a Mini Maton EMD-12 - a very rare beast and about a grand if you can find one. So I drifted and almost convinced myself to sign my life away on a Taylor 652 Builders (not cheap at over £3k)/ Divorce crossed my mind, as I knew how well it would go down with the love of my life. So I Googled alternatives to Taylor and came across a video by Rich. I was that taken by his passion. And solid belief that its about the guitar not the brand, that I am now waiting (3 more days) for a Furch 12 string from Richard's guitars. Passionate, a believer in good product and service, the communication with Rich's team has been excellent from the start. I am sure that when my new 12 string arrives at the weekend, it will be brilliant. Then for my search for an electric.....
  11. These are underrated! The low and high controls are super handy on bass 👌
  12. Thanks Tom. 👍 I can’t fault it - TBH, it’s more than I need as we always DI. Hence, I’ll got for a little combo as a backup. This needs to be cranked up and used! 😀
  13. Cheese Gone - Hall & Oats Wasn't Whistle Test Great...
  14. Hi all. I'm selling my Terror Bass 500, latest version, as I have too many amps and I'm not gigging, so I need to make room for a small practice combo that's incoming. I've used this one for a few rehearsals and jams, but it's probably left the house fewer than half a dozen times in all. I think by now everyone knows what these do, and how well. They're very loud and also look very cool, as does the gigbag. They're also very adaptable, as you can use the gain to really drive the amp or you can switch to "clean" for a transparent, warm tone. Either way, you’ve got that lovely valve-driven pre-amp, with an ECC83 (12AX7) and an ECC81 (12AT7) – in fact it’s the same pre-amp as you get on the flagship AD200 (but you can lift this one!). In fact, while the weight may be a little more than an all-transistor head at 4.65 Kg (10.25lb), it’s no big deal and just feels “right” - nice and solid. I bought it new from the no-longer-with-us GAK for £549 in November 2023, so I think the price is fair, given age and excellent condition, as you can see from the photos. It comes with the very lovely gigbag and a kettle power lead, but I’ll throw in a Speakon cable if it goes at or very near the full price. I'm happy to include the cost of postage to the UK, but I'll knock £15 off if you prefer to collect (from Mapperley, in Nottingham). You can play through it, and tea and coffee are on tap. Otherwise, I’m up for a meet-up within an hour’s drive from Nottingham. Not looking for trades, I’m afraid. I need the cash, and I’ve got all the gear I need for the moment (though with my GAS, I’ll probably change my mind tomorrow!)

  20. I Herd It Through the Grapevine - Marvin Gaye
  21. Cheers for the offer but it's the lollipop versions I'm after
  22. How Soon Is Cow? - The Smiths
  23. Wish i thought of that reply. Made me almost fall of my chair. 🤣🤣🤣 Dave
  24. More setup shenanigans - I can't get the action low enough. That Fender bridge is not designed for this bass as it stands. I could shim the neck, but I'm not wedded to the bridge either... measurements and a decision will be made tonight.
  25. I was the other way round - started with J types and had no idea what to do with a P bass. Finally got there - I really love both, for different things.
