A busy day for me on Sunday; set off from the North East 07:00 to get to Newark for a 12:00 festival gig, then across to Preston for an evening gig... then back home for maybe 01:00 on Monday.

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?

Have to admit thats a gorgeous looking bass. Dave -
But Pastorius obviously never got good enough to graduate to a 5 string! 😁 And on the drums thing, I've played with too many drummers who have more than 3 toms, plus another 4 cymbals. It takes 'em ages to set up and it takes up most of the stage (unless you're in a proper sized venue). I could forgive said drummers if didn't then bash every one of those drums as hard as they could without listening to how they fit in with the band, and especially by tw@tting the ride cymbal constantly giving just an unpleasant wash of high frequency that obscures just about everything else... If they could just do the groove thing with the snare, hi-hat and bass drum we'd all be much happier. And funkier!

Ah great, thanks very much! I likely skimmed over your clarification and didn’t pick up on it because I didn’t see a ratio anywhere….completely on me. Si

I have been delaying posting this because I was hoping to include photos but none have surfaced so far... Weird gig at the weekend. We played the Newark Festival, which I was disappointed to find was not the big "rock" event on Newark Showground happening on the same day, but a series of gigs spread around several pubs in the town. We were down to play early evening at The Castle & Falcon and due to our synth player being somewhat under the weather we arrived just as the band before us were finishing. Surprised to find that the actual stage was outdoors in the pub courtyard, which hadn't been mentioned at any point when we were being booked. I'm never quite sure of the effectiveness of these events for us since we're not a "conventional" band, and in the past some of the similar gigs we have played have been more than a bit "meh". However this was one of those exceptions. The audience seemed to be really up for our set of "melancholy bangers" and even more surprisingly we sold several T-shirts and CDs including a couple that we had the sign. Compare that to our previous gig where we were playing to our core audience and we sold just one T-shirt. Bit of a break now until the end of September which will give us a chance to work on some new material and recording for the album.

For sale is my Vanderkley MNT 112 which was bought New from Bass Direct in 2020. 600W RMS and 17kg. The cab is in immaculate condition and always stored in the Roqsolid branded Vanderkley cover. I’ve recently bought the LNT 210 4ohms version, which renders the MNT112 surplus to requirements. Considering the above, this is Sale Only, and not interested in trades. Collection only from BD11 between Bradford and Leeds.

Anyone bought a cheap (Chinese) neck off eBay?

Pretty much all the damage on the bass has been done on purpose every time it leaves the house; there's little effort involved in wrecking the visual aesthetic of the body. -

Ah the acoustic I bought back in March has earned its keep as a campfire travel guitar this weekend so it’s staying now. Which makes me feel slightly better!

Boss Dual Cube Bass LX, bought for a project (one gig!) playing bass Uke when it sat on a table and ran off its batts and never used again since. (Other than to test before sale.) before you ask, no it won’t keep up with a Heavy metal covers band on a gig, but it is a decent practice amp and could be used (as I did) on small acoustic gigs/campfire jams if that’s your bag? With the addition of the Bluetooth adapter (not included) you can access the app and program the LX to your hearts content. Add a footswitch (also not included) you can turn effects on and off, starts/stop the inbuilt drum machine or start stop the inbuilt looper. This unit is in immaculate/brand new condition with all the packaging and candy - manual, boss PSU, mini jack cable. I’ll include UK postage in the price too. Any questions please ask.

Emergency amp needed: Advice on options please.
Phil Starr replied to Marvin's topic in Amps and Cabs
The Deltabass is roughly the same power as the Gnome/Elf which I use regularly and is also why I don't really need the Peavey. The Gnome does the job. If I think the amp is going to struggle to make the volume I'll trim the bass a tiny bit and boost the mids to make the amp cut through. Hope the gig goes well. -
