  5. Classic East J Retro in Chrome. Decided to put my fretless back to stock passive mode. Hence this is up for sale. Comes with the original box including instructions - it’s dead easy to fit. Price includes UK postage.
  6. It's not yours by any chance is it?
  7. Joy To The World - Three Dog Night
  8. That’s groovy !
  9. I love these Gary Moore ballads. This is the complete Neil Murray bass part for the tune 'On Second Thoughts' from the 1976 Colosseum II album, 'Strange New Flesh'. A stunning performance all round. A career highlight for all concerned. A relatively easy read but there are a lot of rallentandos so watch for those. Also, the final section features synth bass for reasons I cannot really fathom - it's the same notes and feel that Murray was using so I don't understand the artistic decision. I don't suppose they care what I think. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/the-color-of-iris-dave-holland-prism-quartet/
  10. My Aria came with a Rickenbastard TRC. I have a spare Rickenbacker one but I don't want that either. I really want the original Aria one but can I find one? Annoyingly the previous owner had swapped and said he had it somewhere (in the middle of a house move) and would forward it on. I've since messaged but nothing.
  11. I am on (extensive) record about these. There was never any situation I went in to that this did not deliver on. Backline with bonkers drummer and no PA support? No problem. Nice quiet gig but need rich sound anyway? No problem. Like the tone quiet, but disappointed that it all goes to mush when you turn it up? Not here. All the way down to the very bottomest B or A? Here it is. Do I fancy it? Not half. But my ears are shot and I no longer play with backline. Otherwise I would be sitting here telling you how rubbish it is as I planned my trip to pick it up.
  12. Personally, if you want to play double bass, then buy one. If you want to play EUB, then buy one. They’re different instruments really. Dont buy one new, buy a used one (preferably from someone here) that has been set up and comes with the essentials (like a case). The Thomann ones are fine (I’m selling one cheaply) but if you can spend a bit more something like a Boosey & Hawkes Artia bass is probably a better buy. If you find something you like, share it here. There are plenty of people with lots of experience who are happy to help.
  13. I'd have only been able to collect it today, I have to go somewhere and the bass is about 10 miles further on... But happily, it sold last night. Not surprising for a fiver.
  14. This sale concerns the third of my basses, a Sandberg VT4 which was purchased earlier this year. During my brief period of ownership the bass has been stored in a temperature controlled environment at home and is in excellent as new condition. This bass plays beautifully and has recently had new Elixir 45-105 strings fitted, it’s also exceptionally light and weighs around 7lbs 12 oz. It comes with the Sandberg hang tag/instruction booklet and a high quality Sandberg gig bag. This model with the soft aged treatment and fingerboard markers sighs in at over £2000 so I feel that my bass is priced fairly for a quickish sale. If you’re local or just interested you can arrange to come and try it with no obligation. A buyer may organise hi/her own courier, however I am also happy to deliver with the NW of England and meet if you are traveling from further afield. Any questions please ask.

  15. Owing to a change in working circumstances I am looking to sell 2 of my three basses although I will be listing all three. This is the second listing for my very recently purchased Duesenberg Alliance Dave Landreth Signature bass. This is probably the coolest bass I have ever owned. It arrived fitted with round wound strings which have been swapped out for a set of lovely Pyramid flats which deliver a wonderful old school vintage tone. The string height sits at a medium level and in my opinion suits a bass of this type allowing the bass notes to bloom fully. Whilst it’s a bass that you can play fast lines on, it’s more suited to a relaxed and grooving style where it really comes into its own. Think of Rob Mullarkey in Zero 7 (he played A Duesenberg Starplayer bass on some tracks which the Dave Landreth model stems from). The bass comes with a top class fitted case and the appropriate tools, certificate of authenticity etc. Here’s the spec, RRP for these basses is in the region of £2600. It goes without saying that my instrument is almost indistinguishable from new. Buyer can arrange their own carrier although I do advise that the bass is collected or handed over at a suitable meeting point. I am happy to deliver free of charge within the North West of England. Any questions please do let me know. 16. What is this 'audience' of which you speak..? ...
  17. I played in a band where the drummer was Lenny Tench (real name Dave Pittard). He was always Lenny Tench as far as the general public were concerned, but Dave to his friends. Seems the solution to go for.
  18. Back at the Exchange with Bendricks this time. Still tough to get the sound right in there, and rhythm guitarist said I was too loud, vocalist that I was too quiet... I struggled to hear myself well. First set was very poorly lit and I could barely see my neck dots... that caused a few minor bloopers, especially compounded with mushy sound due to all the hard surfaces. Second set we got the lights over us switched back on. Audience modest, probably because of storm Amy. In the second set drummer ran for the loo! Lead guitarist started jamming Parisienne walkways (which we haven't ever played together) and I joined in and vocalist jumped on the drums. Audience loved it. Drummer recovered and we got on with it. Had a couple of encores which I played with a pick for an experiment , Rock and Roll and War Pig.
  19. For me the answer is currently "three is too many". Hopefully that will still be my answer the next time this thread gets bumped!
  20. Joy Spring - Clifford Brown and Nax Roach
  21. That’s wonderful, as is the currently out of reach bass. GLWTS

  24. Selling my set of original pre-CBS reverse wound Precision/Jazz bass tuners. I bought these for a project bass about 10 years ago. I think the ferrules were included at the time, but I can't confirm the age of the ferrules or the screws. If there are any obvious ways to verify the age of the ferrules, please let me know. Any questions, please ask.
