Could well be. Julie's father, Thomas Walters, was an English builder and decorator 🙂

I think you're right mate about not being intended to be replacements, but I'd probably only play one as a rehearsal replacement for my acoustic upright, or if I wanted a double bass sound but couldn't or wouldn't take a big bass to a gig. I hear that a lot of country/roots/bluegrass players in the US even get away with using NS Designs when they tour.

Hello everyone, Having recently upgraded both my touring and backup boards with Cioks power supplies, this is now surplus to requirements. It has recently been serviced and re-capped, and everything works well. It comes with a useful amount of standard 2.1mm pedal leads in short & long lengths, including the useful Voodoo Labs 18V adaptor lead, and a pair of mounting brackets. Also included, but not photographed, is a brand-new Thomann UK kettle/IEC lead. Everything is in used, but good overall condition, and ready to go to work! I'm looking for £110.00 for the lot, which includes mainland UK postage. No offers or trades please. Please message me if interested, and thanks for looking! Etienne

My journey to double bass is like that of many, via the gateway drug of the EUB. The biggest difference on arrival at a real double bass is the string height/action and the physical right hand effort you have to put in to get the lower strings to speak with clarity and volume. Having transitioned, I went back to my NS NXT and raised the action up to double bass heights and gained a far more double bass type tone. But, as Ned Steinberger himself says, the NS EUB’s are not intended to be replacements for double bass, but are in fact to be considered an instrument in their own rights.

First 12-string bass? A bit of British bass history...

That bass with the ridiculously narrow strap he has must have taken its toll on his shoulder. -
Roger Walters? I think he's Julie's estranged brother. Used to be a good brickie back in the day, eventually got sacked for tearing down the wall.

simple multitrack recording software for Android
Phil Starr replied to mcnach's topic in General Discussion
I dont use it much but my duo partner does. Soundtrap is an online app for mixing. Very simple and basic https://www.soundtrap.com It offers a free introductory period and then asks you to upgrade. I've just turned the upgrade down and it continues to let me in, five years now and it's still free. -
I just read this again and noticed that you say your “Casady” is a Peerless - snap! Although I like to think of them as replica Les Paul Signature basses.

The NUX MLD is not a bad preamp at all - the drive sounds good, built in cab sim and plenty tweakable, they’re often overlooked cos of the price I think, but I had one and really rated it for ampless gigs, cracking sound out front

Accugroove Tri 112L ***PRICE DROP - NOW £400***
GreeneKing replied to mrbdfunk's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
A tale to help explain how good I think these cabs are. I've been through a bit of chopping and changing with my rig. I was using one Accugroove Tri112L for band rehearsal and very occasionally both when needed. I decided to get a one cab solution so I had more headroom available with one cab. I bought a MarkBass MB58R P-4. A 600W 4ohm 17.5Kg 2 x 12 with ceramic speakers. I normally use a 'backup' Peavey MiniMax 600W head with it. With the Accugrooves I've was using my GK800 Legacy. I took both rigs along to our last rehearsal. The Accugrooves and the GK won hands down. I haven't tried swapping the heads around but the experience shows just how good these Accugrooves are. -
Looking forward to seeing it! I hope you love it!

I’m a little stretched and the band (covers) has a gig coming up which as much as I’d like to do work and family commitments take precedence! There may be more in the future as we’d like to do more. heres some more details 4/5 piece, ages 21-70 ! Usual pub covers plus a few others, can provide a full list of then to interested parties. Most gigs there is some sort of remittance (cash) but some are not. Great bunch of experienced folk who get on with it and dont take it too seriously. dep needed: 20/7/2025 St Neots Bands in the park (think I got £40 for this gig last year plus a beer, this is not guaranteed) If you think this is for you give me a PM on Basschat I check in most days.

The Melvin Lee Davis preamp with DI and IR loader is a shout. It’s has a sweepable mid frequency which is ideal for double bass. Hi and low pass filter (you adjust via computer software then it is set once you unplug). Three amps available including the Aguilar tonehammer and you can load I.R cabs if you are going in ears. I literally have put mine up for sale in the effects thread. It’s very very very capable. I play pbass, flats with the b15 I.R cab sim and Aguilar amp. Puts a smile on my face.
