That, I suspect, is a poor business decision. I've chatted about this with a couple of UK neck builders who both felt the same but, despite this and some copyright hassles, recognise that business is about what the customer wants
-
I might be in the minority but I prefer a mic on a stand as - assuming no soundguy (@Matt P I'm not sure if you're simply lending PA or also doing sound) - I could always control feedback by moving the bass, plus to my ear it meant more of the real sound of the instrument came across

Exactly. I also used to weave a long thick bootlace through the afterlengths to prevent any sympathetic ringing (normally you can't hear it, but as they are close to the mic pickup position they can get more noticable. If you have time, the between the bridge feet method will probably sound better - but it is always good to have a quick option available.

Social media companies should be made to take responsibility for scam advertising. They can afford it but they'd rather make obscent amounts of profit rather than spend the money on protecting their users.

Using column PA speakers as stage monitors?
dave_bass5 replied to Beedster's topic in PA set up and use
Actually both my guitarist’s only use 1x12’s. One also uses a multiFX that goes directly tothe mixer as well as his amp. The other has his amp mic’ed up. -
I'd give a b0llock for that. They declined and asked for money instead. I can't do that right now. Damn. That's a lovely bass.

Seeking feedback regarding feedback is pleasantly circular ...

Ah, yes. The usual platitudes - I'm "disrespecting hard working citizens", etc, etc - trotted out by those who like the fact that they can buy things cheap and who wish to turn a blind eye to the reasons why it costs so little. I'm not "disrespecting hard working citizens". They have no choice but to work hard for little reward. I admire them for it. I'm criticising the system that forces them to do so. Next, you'll be telling me that they aren't used to Western pay rates and conditions of employment and therefore it wouldn't be good for them. I'll turn your question on its head. My PA and bass gear was made in Germany, the US and the UK, where I can be pretty certain that people are paid decently and don't have to work in a poor environment (relatively speaking, of course. Things can always be better). Have you ensured that the factories where your stuff was made are up to snuff, or are you happy to assume it was because it makes you feel better? The issue goes much wider than just musical equipment. It extends to every aspect of our lives - clothing, consumer goods, food, etc, etc. I know it's unfashionable, "bigoted" even, but I look at country of origin for everything I buy. If I can, I buy home produced goods. This is a matter of pragmatism, as well as principle. I live in the UK and therefore, I want the UK economy to be healthy, because that will benefit my quality of life and that of those I care about. it's in my interest to ensure that, if I can, I buy in a manner that does not see the money I spend lost for good to our economy. Thou doth protest too much. I made a sardonic comment and you took umbrage and attempted to accuse me of bigotry. I suggest your over-reaction betrays your sensitivity about your own conduct, rather than anything I say or do.

Yamaha DXR 8 Active Speaker This unit has been used as a keyboard monitor and comes with brand new Yamaha outdoor semi waterproof cover and mains lead. It is in good condition although it has lost its control knob caps. Everything works as it ought to. It is in very good cosmetic condition It’s very powerful for an 8” active cab. Great little multi purpose speaker. The original woofer has been replaced with a recommended Fane equivalent. Power Output: Dynamic: 1100W (LF: 950W HF: 150W) / Continuous: 700W (LF: 600W HF: 100W) Frequency Range: 57Hz - 20kHz Inputs: XLR-3-31 x1 , INPUT2: Phone x2, INPUT3: RCA PIN x 2, THRU: XLR3-32 x 1 (Parallel with INPUT 1 ), LINK OUT: XLR x 1 Pole Mounts: 2 options - 1 straight and 1 angular socket for mounting at downward angles Dimensions: 280mm (11") x 458mm (18") x 280mm (11") Weight: 13.5kg (29.8lbs) Pickup preferred but I can post at buyer’s cost. It is very well built and the packed weight will reflect this so I envisage it will be around £20 to post it. UK only. Priced to reflect the replacement driver and lack of control caps.

Facebook is full of scams. I saw one last week for andertons, selling marshal speakers for 9.99. I have seen those before and know they are scammed, so I looked, sure enough it said anderton music supplies, had their logo and everything, then look closer, 120 followers. Reported it as a scam, Did a search for andertons, hundreds of thousands of followers, no little speakers, contacted them they said not to deal with the other thing as it was a scam, I said I knew and had reported it but thought they might have more clout, they said they report them every day and nothing happens. Sure enough, 2 days later got a thing from facebook saying that the complaint wasn't upheld. Now I assume everything on facebook is fake, as long as meta get their money they don't care who they are ripping off.

I will definitely look into that, thanks. The older Katana was actually my first choice but they were discontinued and sold out at that time. I'm now going to explore the relative merits of the NUX v the Boss. Choices, choices! The Katana does look and sound pretty nifty from what I've seen on YouTube so far.

Using column PA speakers as stage monitors?
Bill Fitzmaurice replied to Beedster's topic in PA set up and use
If anything the laser beam highs from guitar cabs mean they're what needs the most to be in the PA, both out front and in monitors. For all their fussing over gear they tend not to understand how it works very well. No one needs more than a 1x12 combo. But somehow far too many of them think it's still 1965 and they need rigs capable of filling Wembley with no PA. - Today

It's pretend flame. It comes off with the current finish. OP, paint it the colour you prefer. I'd say Monaco Yellow but that's not much use if you don't like Monaco Yellow.
