  1. Past hour
  2. If you want it to look dangerous you should make a feature of the symbol, perhaps on the headstock, and have it backlit with a slowly pulsing U/V led. The example below is the wrong colour and the pulse rate is a little too quick but it gives you the gist of what I have in my mind's eye.
  3. With orders coming in thick and fast and companies bending (their employees) over backwards to deliver your order the very same day or sooner, it's bound to happen. The thing is how they deal with it. They once sent me my order of 4-5 small to medium sized items, and everything was there, except there was also a 4 pack of Vic Firth drumsticks. Maybe one of the staff was just feeling generous. [insert Oprah Winfrey meme "and YOU get drumsticks, and YOU get drumsticks!.."]
  4. I picked one up a few months back and it's bloody brilliant. I just wanted something for noodling around at home with an aux in and headphones out and a less neutral sound than the GR Bass 800 that i had at the time. Seriously impressed with it at home levels - can't get a bad sound out of it.
  5. The name I recall for the earlier designs was Stuart Watson?
  6. Just watching Bryan Adams at Radio 2 in The Park on BBC2, with Bryan taking on bass duties. Band sound great, decent enough mix via regular TV speakers.
  7. Greetings from a fellow Sheffield dweller!
  8. Just a thought, but I still use MkIV GP11 preamps - the preamp gain usually has to be on 7 or 8 out of 10 clicks with any passive bass. There is a lot of headroom, I guess to suit higher output active basses of the time. No shortage of output on the master volume, but the preamp gain generally needs to be high.
  9. I'd have to concur with all of those sentiments (unfortunately including the last....) Why did they ever stop doing the chequer binding....?
  10. The Orchids Aren’t Alright - The Offspring
  11. Flats are good on any bass. Different sound and feel to rounds, but plenty of good things to be had with flats.
  12. Hello, Very cool little Boss modeller for sale. Sounds great but I'm just not a modelling guy, I'm admitting defeat---I just don't enjoy the process, as good as the results can be. Boxed, also comes with additional Bright Onion switch. £350 delivered please. Would consider trades for bass gear - amps, basses (J flavoured), whatever... In good condition, a few scratches on the bottom as pictured. Album with lots of photos here: https://imgur.com/a/9pniK6g

  13. Gonna be a bit of open heart surgery for pics n spec of pots... It's Phillips O'clock.
  14. Beautiful, and a bargain Main body wood looks like alder. If it'd been for a 4 string I'd have snapped it up
  15. If all works well, depping isn’t for one-off gigs; if you do a good job people tend to ask you back next time which makes it more worthwhile putting in the initial effort. In my main depping job, I cover for a bassist whose side project clashes with some gigs, so it’s steady depping rather than one-off depping. Much better.
  16. Check against the wiring diagram?
  17. @NancyJohnson, I've got the real deal, with the boomerang inlays and all - I picked it up years ago in Australia, it still has the 'Rudy's Music NY' sticker on it with the original price of it. It's heavy, it's a pain to setup, but it's priceless, it sounds amazing and I can only imagine you could probably count how many are left in the world on 2 hands now...
  18. Today
  19. Got to be the longest shot on Basschat! Always worth a go though!
  20. A fantastic compressor with plenty of tonal variety using 3 styles of compression with their own respective ratios. The SSL Bus compressor, FET 1176 and Darkglass's own Super Symmetry. There is also a lot of great tweaking that can be done via computer with the timings of attack, release and even a HPF. In fantastic condition, including box, manuals, rubber feet etc. Specifications: Hybrid Analog/Digital Compression Pure Analog signal path Blend control 3 built in yet distinct modes of advanced modelled compression Connect to your PC/Mac via Micro-USB (B) Free ‘Darkglass Suite’ software (provides additional fine control and compression models) 10-LED gain reduction meter Touch-Through metal sensors Internal doubling of supply voltage to 18V (allows for extra headroom) I/O: 6.5mm / ¼” Jack Input impedance: 1M Ohm Output impedance: 1k Ohm (9V DC, centre -, 2.1mm, ~250mA current draw)
  21. I do really like what this does but unemployment isn’t compatible with having 5 preamp pedals so something’s got to go. This does a nice console breakup and the Pultech EQ thing via two toggle switches. Really high quality headphone amp too. Has a high pass filter too, which isn’t seen so often. In outstanding condition with original box. (More pictures to follow.)

  22. According to Fender, rolls off highs without increasing bass/muddiness
  23. Since the tweeters are from around 4khz (from memory) surely there should be more sound and volume. I'll record it tomorrow to show the volume difference
  24. Beautiful. I wonder where the “Duck Dunn” bass is now?
