  1. Past hour
  2. Ok, read the story of the origin of the 4030 and it is just a 4003 with the bridge moved up 2.5" and hotter pickups in different place. I guess there is a market for everything
  3. My guitarist mate in our duo is pretty good with the ‘bants’. I sometimes interject when I think it’s appropriate, especially if he’s getting inappropriate and needs digging out of a hole. As we rely a lot on requests for our gigs, there is plenty of opportunity to discuss the song selection, and also apologise for the ones that are beyond us ( including ones we’ve just attempted that weren’t that clever). Another topic that comes around quite often is my age ( being 8 years older than him) so he gets a fair bit of mileage out of that , which doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I think the golden rule is chat when it helps the gig move along, and just shut up and play the tunes when it’s obvious that’s all they want. Add alcohol into the equation and it can get harder knowing which is best of course….😆
  4. I'm ooking forward to hearing how this works with your Monza.
  5. I know they've been in development at least 3 years, I think Sheldon really wanted to get the design right - but agree they are a bit late to the party. I also expected a much more different body design to the Afterburner, but it is unmistakably a Dingwall. Not for me (i've just got an ABZ), but would definitely have a crack on one.
  6. So that's really cool. I've had my reservations on the Anagram but this really gives me pause for thought. Not necessarily something I would use, but as @tayste_2000 said: that's a quick introduction. Not only that, but you can change the distortion engine, something the Parallax misses. Really cool
  7. In both of my gigging bands the singers are naturally very good at interacting with the audiences. That said I prefer when going to see a band to hear them play songs. I’d be more than happy for there to only be a smidging of chat at most. I don’t really care what songs are about and I don’t have any interest in hearing them thank anyone and everyone from the bar staff to the lollipop man who helped them cross the road in 1972.
  8. I ordered this just for a bit of fun when I spotted it on Ali Express last month when I was buying a load of other bits This is a clone of the Aguilar AG Preamp - it looks identical except there is no “Aguilar” logo on it in the centre It has a 4B EQ - Bass (40hz), Low Mid (300hz), Hi Mid (800hz) & Treble (4khz) as well as footnswitchable “Bright” and “Deep” switch which can be used separately and together. Use 9 or 18v power - normal pedalboard power works fine, top jacks and DI at side with pre/post eq button - everything is identical to the Aguilar version I have had the Aguilar AG and I liked it - super clean with great EQ/Q frequencies that it’s very difficult to get a bad sound out of, and this clone sounds identical. It’s a sturdy metal enclosure and honestly if it had an Aguilar logo on I would 100% believe it was the real thing. I probably should keep it as it’ll definitely come in useful, but I’ve managed to spunk an absolute fortune this month on basses & pedals and Now the bills are due l am doing my usual trick of selling things for half the price I paid 🤣 I’d very happily keep it but it’s not on my board right now so I have to list it. It’s a really clean preamp that sounds great flat, but the EQ points are sooo good - you really can dial in any tone you want with it Absolute bargain - £35 inc shipping!
  9. Running To Stand Still - U2
  10. I know Ric bashing is a sport but I love a good Ricky. But if, and it is only if, the body size and neck length are the same as a normal 4003, then I can't see the point in this short scale. Yes it'll sound slightly different but with a full size body and neck then you've lost a lot of the appeal of a short scale. Just move that bridge back, put a horseshoe in the space created and make it sound like a real Ricky should. Unless the body and neck are shorter, then ignore me, I'm talking shite. 😁
  11. Demon FX Sim Amp Bass Station - Preamp/Cab Sim/DI. Bought from Ali Express last month just because I was ordering other things and wanted to try it out! Paid £58 for it It’s a clone of the DSM Humboldt Bass Station. It had 3 band preamp is based on an Ampeg SVT, can be clean or crank the gain for SVT/tube OD, there is also a parallel ‘clean’ path which gives you a really fat low end (which can be enhanced with the LPF @ 500 or 100hz and blend in as much or little as you want) - I didn’t really get this until I played with it, but it works fantastically well to give you fat clean low end underneath the effected signal. There are two fx loops - one for the preamp side and one for the clean side, so you can run OD pedals on the preamp side and then blend in clean signal from the parallel path into it and so it makes any effect pedal you couldn’t use due to losing low end useable again!. There is also an effect loop on the parallel path - there’s loads of yt videos of the DSM version showing how thes fx loops can be used creatively/best Lastly there is the Cab Sim which is outstanding, offering 3 different cabs (115/410/810) and controls for resonance, mic position and wet/dry blend with the preamp/parallel side. It also has two DI’s - one for the effected signal and one that is the clean parallel path only. ALSO - this can be used just as a cab sim by plugging your preamp out into the FX loop return on the preamp fx loop, and honestly the cab sim is really very good. Quality is good - sound and build, and if you look on Google etc there’s a fair amount of feedback from people comparing it to the original DSM version positively Paid £58 for it last month and I’ve played with it for a few hours at home, but that’s all. Happy to give someone a bargain here - it’s a decent little unit, plenty of stuff to play about with and it’s sounds spot on - also you don’t have to wait 3 weeks for it to turn up from China 😁 Absolute bargain - £25 shipped!
  12. I have a beaten Washburn Status copy somewhere. I didn't like the thickness of the neck, nor some parts of the body. One very skilled carpenter removed the lacquer, and shaved the back of the neck quite some. I played that bass maybe four years, until I bought a Modulus. Try to shave the back of the neck. A couple of millimetres will already make a difference.
  13. That SVT-AV is my dream amp!

  16. I didn't think they could make them any uglier
  17. Few coming gigs have made me busy in the evenings, but I need to take a look at those newer singers in the near future. Thank you for your excellent work, @ChrisDev.
  18. Not a dingwall fan but the extender is a good idea for hanging, if that is what it is for!
  19. Today
  20. I spent years looking for a second one of these, and one pops up not long after I buy a pair of Orange 115s. 🤣😂 Great cab btw. Monstrously loud, with a clear, but vintage sound. I still take mine to band practice rather than the Orange cabs. Best of luck with the sale.
  21. Ah the colour is phthalo blue, it's a Crimson guitars water based stain
  22. Three Bog Night (Must have been the dodgy kebab 🥙 💩)
  23. BIN Though ‘bine inch nails’ doesn’t work. So abbreviation only. Nine Inch Snails has a good ring to it though if you prefer the long form… though that breaks the rules. Sorry.
  24. Really good basses - GLWTS
  25. Great basses. Beautiful necks. I’ve got a Precision that I took the neck off and replaced it with one from one of these. Perfection 😁
