Funnily enough, it was... However, we had loads when we played the Doll's House just up the road!

If you take a spare amp do you take spare cabs too? In 45 years of gigging I've seen more speakers fail then I have amps. I've solved the problem by ditching the backline entirely.

IK Multimedia ToneX One, anyone?
YellowLedBetterBass replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Effects
So it's just a reskin of the original Tonex One? I'm hoping so! I can see the parallel wet/dry thing being useful, but beyond that I'm really not interested in any of the added "features", as I tend to find a lot of the user created captures are better than IKs stuff anyway. -
Sounds good. Could replace an Octaver, Chorus, and a hipshot drop tuner. Could even convert me from a 5 to a 4. I wonder how good it'd sound switching 4 steps down (EADG to BEAD), there are a couple of songs I'd find that useful for with a 4 string. One problem I have with pitch shifting different amounts - or just for a part of a song is getting confused! I think I'd get less confused if I've just switched to BEAD for a whole song.

Maybe you just need to order one and if it doesn't suit, send it back, Steve. I did that once with Andertons and had no problems.

Now that looks amazing, DJ. Congratulations on your lovely new bass! I was only playing along with "Rio" & "Hungry Like The Wolf" on my GB the other day. Enjoy!

I carry the ubiquitous Behringer BD121 pedal everywhere in my leads case. An absolute no brainer for less than £30. 😃

I hope they'll offer the option to audition amps and maybe buy individual models. I'm not going to pay $100 for 150 models, of which I would use 10 at most.

Polar Audio do the replacement Paragon drivers but I don't know whether they've got any in stock. Fair Deal haven't got back to me yet - emailed them on Monday to ask about progress.

If you had a budget of £5k, what would you buy
Phil Starr replied to JPJ's topic in PA set up and use
I'd completely agree about the subs. I've a pair of old Wharfedales which are great but I've never used them together except for outdoor gigs. You just don't need all that bass in most venues and a single sub is enough. I've now replaced the Wharfedales with a single 905 which is pretty light for a capable sub and 10kg lighter than the Wharfedales. I'm loving this question all my gig money goes into a separate account and is used mainly to buy the gear I need to keep gigging. In the past few years I've not actually 'needed' to buy any gear as its been reliable and sounds good, I'm also happy with the basses I play. I've made no major purchases in the last 5 years apart from the 905 and coincidentally I've accumulated £5,000 in my band account. I'll be very interested in other people's suggestions £5,000 is also a very realistic figure for a regularly gigging semi pro band. Most of us are probably using gear similar to @JPJ but if your band is getting plenty of decent gigs then paying back £5,000 over a year or so is very do-able for a successful band and will allow for a noticeable improvement in sound. The EV's and Peaveys probably owe them nothing but will still recoup some money when they sell them. -
Sadly it's actually heavier if going by their website (links to source) ABM EVO-IV Metal: 13.8kg ABM EVO-IV Wood: 12.5kg I agree, a gig bag would put my mind at ease immensely.

Glad to start this feedback thread for Nikzy, who bought a Fender Jazz from me. He was an outstanding person to deal with, great communication, immediate payment and a great experience overall. Welcome to Basschat!
