  2. I have a MB58R 12” combo, superlight and the head is removable. Very impressed with mine, covers a lot of genre territory. If wanting ultralight I can also recommend a TE Elf and a 4 ohm MB58R 2x10” pure, fabulous setup.
  3. Admirably! Mine never struggles.

  6. If i didn't have a Nux Mighty Plug and a Bighead headphone amp, I'd be looking at this. I still might have a look. Perhaps the phone app makes the interface usable. However given IK Multimedia haven't got the world's best UX team, that might be a forlorn hope. I suppose they could have contracted the work out? Rob
  7. The only fool proof method might be buying a new case. My case for my 2000 MIJ Fender P stinks. It's the old glue that causes the stench. I won't tell you what it smells like. Lol Daryl

  9. She canceled last year at The Bend. We we're contracted to open for her. Daryl

  11. To get the best placement of a sub in a pub you need to get in before opening. Put your sub in the middle of the dance floor designated area. I say designated because it could well be a dining area during daytime. Play some music with a little booty in the bottom. It doesn't have to be loud, only discernible. Check out the possible actual locations for the sub for best bass thump. When the sub is swapped in there and cranked up, hey presto, thump on the dance floor.
  12. I THINK I can see why this didn't go into production based on the failure of the Fender Dimension to gain traction. Stingray fans will nearly always go for an actual Stingray. What we want our favourite brands to be can nearly always be found elsewhere in my experience 🙂
  13. do you ever get the feeling that the best bass you have ever played is whichever one is in your hands at any given moment?
  14. Wall placement gives not only up to 6dB more output, the equivalent of doubling the sub count compared to well away from the wall, but also eliminates reflection cancellations. Uneven room response is seldom an problem in typical pubs and small to medium sized clubs. Every room is different, so experimentation is key to find the best spot to place them. Where you'll usually get the worst result is below mains, so that should be avoided whenever possible.
  15. Small world... we've just been offered a gig at the tunnels so in my research I spotted a band called Butane Skies and the name just stuck in my head. Then I start 'window shopping' here for basses I don't need and there's that name again...hey @SteveXFR what's the Tunnels like as a venue, hard to gauge from the website
  16. Yup, me again... Pickup and some books. As always, Lawrie is one of the good guys. Thanks
  17. Funnily enough, I keep thinking that @Supernaut's avatar is Scooby Doo when I see it out of the corner of my eye.

  20. A related thing is how isolated bass with loads of distortion can sound really loud and evil on its own but disappears or at least sounds much mellower in a band context.
  21. I know a pub with a hard stone floor, roughly 3m ceiling height and a length of wall in front of the band space also 3m from the wall behind. f=speed of sound/wavelength f=330/3 = 110. Oh yes, that room is perfectly tuned to a bass's A string's first harmonic and boy does it resonate...
  22. If you have a damaged collarbone it doesn't matter what strap you use. Maybe you could put the strap over your right shoulder, or better still, grab a bar stool and sit, until your bones are properly mended.
  23. I think the clue is in the title, Speaker Placement Basics. He doesn't go into a lot of things but has stuck to the sort of set up most beginners will be working with if anything I doubt many bands have this much equipment to play with. Wall placement isn't a panacea and wall reinforcement is unnecessary if your subs are adequate. Placing them to one side means you can't match the level of the sub to both of the tops. Subs may be omnidirectional but the sound level still falls with distance so the bass will potentially be too loud on the side nearest the tops and not loud enough on the side further away. In any case most people viewing this for the first time probably won't have access to subs or centre fills. Steve's question is about directional speakers and where to point them and the heat maps are a really useful way of looking at this.

  25. That grippiness makes them an outstanding solution for neck dive. They also make the heaviest bass light on your shoulders. I have one on both my heaviest fivers.
  26. @Terry M. Seeing this as a production model would be lovely 😄 and as previously mentioned a run of BB3000 models. Possibly a few more finishes on the current BB line. Would it improve sales? No idea but I guess that's a gamble all Manufacturers take?
