In one sense, that's admirable. On the other hand, unless this is clearly marked as such, it could end up being sold as genuine. I've mentioned it several times on this thread, but two of my vintage basses sold with changed parts clearly mentioned to new buyers. Unfortunately, they have subsequently appeared for sale with all of those things not mentioned. The price was almost double (in one case, triple) what I'd sold the basses for. I know Limelight clearly mark their fakes, but Bravewood doesn't. I think I'm more supportive of the former approach than the latter.

I’m in the ‘hair covering the headstock’ camp I’m afraid. 🤣 Si

That's brilliant, I hope it works out for you. The perceived wisdom is to always have spare channels but sometimes a tool is just right for the job. Behringer are a funny old company. They still make a lot of stuff they've been producing for years and I think the Flow is made to replace their analogue desks but it does knock up against the X12 price wise. The X Air 12 does offer a whole world of extra capabilities but has the same learning curve as the x18 mixers and the same lack of physical controls. Not everyone will want to develop the technical expertise to run the X-series of mixers and I suspect that there would be a real market for replacing all their small analogue mixers with a Flow version. I think there is a lot of merit in simplicity and it is one of the joys of playing with a duo or trio to go in with a simple set up and just get on with playing.

This is a deliberate attempt to make a 70's Jazz bass to look Vintage at a fraction of the cost, he is not trying to sell it as a Vintage Jazz but offering it to anyone not in a position to afford the real deal but want to have a bass close to a Vintage looking one But if you had never seen a Vintage bass before or what to look out for then you could easily be fooled...

Actually in that photo the headstock was just behind the drummers head. He was known to be deeply embarrassed about his headstock, so he always hid it.

Has anyone been to a Pitchblack Playback event? I'm thinking of going to one and I'm really not sure if it will be worth the money or something that will be an incredible listening event.

Having a standard pre-agreed half song or chorus to quickly run through after telling everyone in the room what you are going to do seems to be a fairly professional way to do it regardless of who is already there, and saves the back and forth as to what the band wants to play or random jamming (which feels somewhat less professional!). I can possibly see how IEM mixes may not change much between gigs and thus a soundcheck is less necessary, but I don't think I would ever NOT want to do one!

Please have that

Thanks Richard for the offer but I think you can probably find a better home for it as we are spoiled for amp choices!

^^^ Ah… late 70s. That’s why I’ve never really noticed them.

I’m confident the guard is legit. The tuners, though.. I don’t recall seeing those gaps at the bottom of the plate before..?

What is the budget? The other question is, do you have any brand loyalty. If the thread goes on long enough you will end up with recommendations for every major bass cab known to man. As @taozero said above, The LFSys range could suit but similarly the Barefaced range get a lot of love too. However those long stretched arms will need to dig deep into your pockets for those. It is barely a secret the @stevis has been working on a new range and I know they are close. These will be lighter and lower power handling but two should do it.
-
It's not an original neck in any way. That's a slab fingerboard, not a veneer, which it should be on any Fender from 1962-1983. Those tuners are the Fender branded Schallers that came out in 1976 and are still used in Fender's '70s reissue basses today. The guard is a clear repro. The body, electronics and bridge could be real, you'd need to a closer look inside to verify.

We do a silent test that everyone is going through the mixer/laptop and in ears are working, and individually do a quick loud test of backline things (E.g. just playing a few bass notes at volume). Then we basically go straight into our first song but it is one where instruments gradually start playing one by one and the lead singer stands out front checking the levels via a laptop interface, we go around for a while if he needs to adjust things, then he starts singing and adjusts vocal levels if needed. The upside is punters don't have to put up with a lot of '1 2 1 2 check check' stuff. Downside is it is a bit a a damp squib of a set starting.

Easily the best speaker cabinet I have ever used: am downsizing to lighter Genz Benz cabs as I rarely play live now. The Eden D210XST Cab is loud enough to be heard and yet still small enough to be used at home or in a small studio. For those players who need a portable, high-performance rig with even more low end than the XLT, Eden has designed a 2 x 10" cabinet for their XST woofers. Punchy and clean, the D210XST produces a full and clear tone through its two 10" speakers. It's excellent for delivering articulate bass lines with volume. This 2 x 10" cabinet handles more power than many 4 x 10" cabs on the market. The D210XST offers huge bottom end with its cleverly-designed tuned and ported cabinet construction and speaker selection: the low end is full but tight, the mids are open and well-defined and the highs are clear and crisp. Durable build quality makes this ideal for touring and live performances. All Eden enclosures are constructed with 5/8" thick void free plywood with full dado and rabbet jointing. Massive internal bracing prevents vibration and keeps the sound deep, tight and clear. Exclusive Eden Cast Frame loudspeakers and Eden Cast Bell low distortion tweeter horns are designed, hand-built and tested in their own factory in the USA. Very Good condition. Comes with an official Eden cover. Power Handling: 500 Watts Impedance: 8 Ohms Speakers: 2x10" Eden-spec Eminence EC1060XS speakers Tweeter: Eden Cast Bell low distortion Crossover: 3.5KHz @ 18dB Frequency Response: 30Hz - 14KHz Sensitivity: 103dB SPL Connections: Parallel 1/4 Inch and Speakon Dimensions: 23" w x 18" h x 18.5" d Weight: 59lbs / 26.8kg Only £325. Collection from East London preferred, although happy for buyer to arrange a courier.
