What MIDI footswitches are we using? I like the Darkglass footswitch, but nearly £200 is tough to swallow right now.

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
TheGhostofJaco replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
S martyn is making some epic short strings right now. They have a freedom/little which is a Fodera single cut style in 32 or 30. Brazilian rosewood. Pretty awesome. Then they have a little dingwall style bass that’s called the Blaze that a lot of people are playing. Proprietary pickups and they are headless. Easy to string b-g or e-c. You all may already know about these but they are really high quality handmade instruments that can be had for a steal (relatively speaking) on the used market. -

The pacific peach with a different paint scheme. I like the look though. I'd add a black pickguard, thumb rest and an ashtray bridge cover. If it's even remotely similar my 60th Ann. RW Jazz, it will play and sound beautifully (and I imagine it's the same for the most part - bar finishing) Pretty cool.

Is that the one that was up for sale on here a few months ago? I oggled that a few times! Nice

No worries, glad you found it useful. Definitely saves a lot of time in the long run.

Got hold of some black M3x30mm screws, countersunk for added stealth... Added a couple of M3 nuts to help keep it in place. Then fitted it to the bass... Amazingly, it fit first time! There's not a lot of room to wind the pickup down further, a mm or two maybe, but it's at a good place and I'm just happy I didn't have to howk out some of the pickup route for the humbucker mounting lugs. Gave it a quick test, and after I swapped two wires (because it oddly came with the series join out of phase?), it's working as I expect. Sounds pretty good in cans. Will record some clips over the weekend.

Well, we are planning a farewell party at our local boozer and naturally I will be booking my own band as headliner 😉 so maybe, just maybe... Edit: Maybe one of those man-and-van services with a tail lift Luton! -
Yes, on both counts, I have done over half of my recent gigs with it

The eq on mine was definitely three band with two volumes and a pickup selector. I cant remember the electronics unfortunately. I only ever opened the back once and I dont recall seeing much in the way of branding or whether there was an exposed PCB. I have a suspicion it could have been one of the basses commissioned by The Bass Centre towards the end of Ashley's time in the UK. It had a p bass sized neck and was black. Im aware that the Bass Centre insisted on p bass sized neck profiles when they signed he to an exclusive agreement. Maybe 1986-ish? Tangshan is a bit of a walk from where I am. Have you visited your wifes home town? I know the name from the earthquake that hit in 1976.

How was your open mic or jam night last night?
tauzero replied to tauzero's topic in General Discussion
Not many at the Crown in Shard End tonight - one of the two Neverley Brothers and one of the two members of Archive couldn't even get off their respective drives, there were assorted ailments causing drop-outs (including Mrs Zero), and one other cried off due to the weather. We got told at 8:15 that it had to end at 9, although we actually went on till about 9:20. I restricted myself to bass as I didn't want to extend the night any more. Managed to get as far as the hill leading up to my house, and couldn't make it up - left the car at the bottom of the hill, reasonably parked, and walked home. And Caravelle memory foam trainers, though pleasant most of the time, are by no means waterproof. -

Bit like my 4x10 combo. I hope to gig it again some time just because...
