  1. Past hour
  2. I have this one and definitely my favourite bass at the moment ....
  3. Thanks I think this it the best one I've done so far I draw out the body full size on inkscape then I cut it out with my laser engraver 👍🏻
  4. I use a very old and very mellow Ibanez chorus for occasional use only. The sort of songs it excels on have bassline with slow, melodic sections - What is and what should never be is an example, it makes the long, slow slides shimmer.
  5. Nile Rogers autobiography Le Freak is a good read. I've just finished reading Just Backdated by Chris Charlesworth, an account of his years working for Melody Maker in the early '70s. An excellent account if like me you were at an impressionable age at the time. I think I got it from @Mickeyboro
  6. Anyone got a decent French bow (ideally carbon) they want to swap for this carbondix German bow?
  7. State of play tonight. Most of the 'back end' connections are made, and after much cursing and struggling with inaccessible M3 fixings, the bias board is fitted. I'm not 100% happy that it's secure though and I may yet look at mounting it to the end of the chassis.
  8. I had a Flamed Sycamore custom lined fretless 4 string back in early 80's but moved it on. Wish i had kept it. Cost me £740 new. Happy days. 😂 They do make some wonderful looking and sounding basses. Don't get much better than WAL. Dave
  9. I have a Behringer PA amp. Very happy with it and slightly intimidated by all it's bi-amping and bridging possibilities. Fortunately I just need a basic stereo amp.
  10. Usually It's calendar issues, or venues changing hands
  11. In my old punk covers band The Daves we played a local venue where we went down amazingly. Unfortunately a lady and her husband that we knew had come to see us, she was very drunk and started a fight with him, yelling at him very loudly in the middle of the pub. When he left she started yelling at anyone who made eye contact she would fight them too. Her broad German accent made the behaviour even more noticeable in rural Watford. We could hardly say we didn’t know her as she had a Daves tee shirt on. No matter how many times we tried to get gigs they were always fully booked…..
  12. Likes a Phaser, started back in the 80's with an Amdek Boss-a-like Kit Likes a Joyo, have the 3 Knob Ironman Nebulous Phaser, (and the Rowin Nano) But this takes a battery... and was cheap! Not a fan of the Vintage Phase decal so scraped it off. Nice Single Knob Phaser, prefer Slow and Shallow these are not that overbearing on the depth.
  13. Interesting. I have a simila, but significantly lower intensity, high pitched whine on my Euro 5LX, which I assumed was a shielding issue and have been meaning to get looked at by a bass tech. Paging @cetera !
  14. I'd be interested in the body and hardware if you ever had the need to sell the neck separately. I'd imagine it'll all go in one though, so GLWTS 🙂
  15. I think that's it 100% 👍
  16. Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get - Chris Janson
  17. Agreed. There’s so much junk on the vintage market. This seems a genuinely really well cared for bass and the sort of thing a collector would want in their collection.
  18. Today
  19. Selling this Micro Fuzz from Kong. Comes with a blend Knob so no lowend loss. 2 types of fuzz, “bass” side is more of a vintage germanium type, the “treble” side is a trebly fuzz. In as new condition, never mounted on a pedalboard nor gigged. £30 posted within mainland UK.

  20. I have one of these Valeton GP-5 pedals and for ease of use and the small size vs the price it’s one of the best pieces of kit I’ve tried in some time. Use your phone app to tweak it, don’t need to PC up for it. GLWTS
  21. ^^This 100% !
  22. Does the bass come with a certificate?
  23. Pretty much what @Woodinblack said. He mainly used the 62 sunburst Jazz that he bought as a teenager, but he also had a red jazz bass, a 50s precision and a fretless P bass. Towards the end of Zeppelin he had an 8 string Hagström and an Alembic. Post Zep, he generally used Manson basses, although I have seen him playing a more recent sunburst Fender Jazz. https://www.guitarworld.com/features/the-10-most-famous-bass-guitars-of-led-zeppelins-john-paul-jones Now that's a bit of a sore point! A couple of us have been on about that for ages, and it is one thing that is definitely stopping us getting more of the top gigs on the circuit. A guitar player that I play with in another band, also plays in a Police / Sting tribute who are very busy - basically some of the bigger places we play are some of the smaller gigs that they do. When they got a pretty serious agent behind them, the first thing he did was get some high quality promo videos done, which led to them getting bigger and better gigs. If you search on YouTube (and I would rather you didn't), you get all sorts of cr*p come up, mostly with a different singer and before I was in the band. The best of a bad lot is probably this clip that a punter did on a phone at the excellent Cluny in Newcastle (not too bad for a video on a mobile). This was the first gig that Didge (keys player) did with us, but he's hardly featured on the clip for some reason.
  24. It isn’t but it’s a similar set up.
